Okay, peoples. This is a thread where you can get some answers about any shorthand with which you may not be familiar.
I'm lazy. So post the offending thing here, and someone will answer about it.
Let's start.
MC = Monstrous creature ML = Missile launcher
Now, continue, and we can turn this into an encyclopedia.

LOL. I think someone has been reading my posts. YAY!!!!
HB=heavy bolter HS=heavy stubber SWS= Special weapon squads IC= independent character IST =Inquisitor Storm Troopers FOC=Force Organization Chart Are you going to edit the main post(yours) to include ALL the entries? That would be awesome Sir if you did.
BTW ElegaicRequiem I love you for this thread, but not in a 'Brokeback Mountain' sort of way. More like a "Leave it to Beaver" sort of way.

GEQ=guard equivalent SM=Space Marines DA=Dark Angels BA=Blood Angles Smurfs= Usually Ultramarines, but sometimes can used to mean other chapters. LR=Land Raider
Also be wary that some acronyms overlap, like Lord Commissar and LasCannon, Special Weapon and Space Wolves.

I'll put it all in the main post if this gets to be more than a single page.
Ass can = Assault cannon. (I think most people use this, they just don't write it.)

=I= = Inquisition (not a common one, but used on occasion GK = Grey Knights GKT = Grey Knight Terminators SoB = Sisters of Battle PW = power weapon PF = power fist
In fact, all of these are probably a bit uncommon/unusual... but I've seen them used (and used them myself)

And whats with marine equivilant whats equivilent? Marine equivalent (or MEQ) is anything with a statline made up primarily of 4's and have at least a 3+ save. So, things like Necrons, Chaos Marines, etc. On the other hand, Guard equivalents are anything with a statline similar to Guardsmen (basically majority 3's in their statline and saves of less than 3+.)

No problem.
If it wasn't for the fact GW would sue me to the next century, I'd have posted example statlines for comparison.

Lawyer hammer = workshops favorite specialist game, the reason not to post statlines.

Math hammer = using math to figure out the statistical advantage of each and every unit in the game and building a lit around it.
Dice hammer = Like math hammer, but using dice to figure out how well a unit does against another unit in 1to1 combat. with all available factors to the advantage of the attacking army.
theory hammer = Building a list according to the two above methods with the theory that if they are statistically superior, or prove to be better on dice then in pratical use they should prove to be better in theory on the field.
All three methods are unfounded as none of the stats revolved around real world situations and most lists fail even if said units didn't.
example of dice hammer if a unit has a BS of 3 then they will hit 50% of the time in theory since they need 4's to hit. Being their weapon has a 3 strength then the chance of them wounding decreases to only 25% of the time.
Same unit in dice hammer If a unit of conscripts with a munitrium priest attacks a unit of tac marines then they are going to need 4's to hit and 5's to wound.
Piling in you can manage in ideal conditions get all 50 conscripts into the fight with the priest being in base to base contact.
Straken is near by so the furious charge goes off and combat is simultaneous.
100 attacks from the conscripts proves to show that 7 out of ten stirkes fail to hit. upo the reroll another 7 out of ten fail to hit giving you a total of 30 +21 = 51 hits (thank you Priest) Furious charge increases strength by one and after rolling those 51 dice to wound you come out with 26 wounds
Marines fail 6 wounds
Marines strike back with 20 attacks and make 18 hits Wounding with 15 Conscripts save 4
Priest stikes 3 times and hits all three and killing another 3
Conscripts fail combat by 2 leadership test manages to fail and rolls a 1 to break combat.
Squad wiped out by one marine.
