I just had a rather mad thought, inspired by a comment Aceblitzkrieg left on our blog.
How many of you would be interested in a IGMB Battle Royale?
I know that since we're scattered across the globe, it would be impossible to get EVERYONE together, but I know quite a few of you live on the Eastern Seaboard.
My thought was that we could agree on a location, probably in Northern VA, where I live, or in Maryland, since they're kind of in the middle of the East Coast. We would also set a date, probably in July or August.
I think it would be cool for a chance for some of to be able to get together, shake hands, talk face to face, and have our armies beat the crap out of each other.
Thoughts?
EDIT: We're looking at some time between July 25th and August 9th. If you want to come, PM me with where you're driving from, how many people you're brining (just yourself is fine), and what dates in that stretch of time work for you. I need this info BY JUNE 6TH so I can start hunting for a location.

I like this plan. It seems like it would be a lot of fun for all.

Hey, Hetlan you're the media of our blog now? Sweet.
Reds, that's a good idea, but the logistics of it will be directly proportional to the awesomeness of the outcome. Plus, we should have it catered. Everyone gives $5 for food? That'd be truly sweet.

Well, a lot of it depends on how many people can do it. If it's only a half dozen or so, then we can just do it at the local game store on a Sunday and order pizza.
If we get 12-20, I'll have to see about renting a room somewhere, and if we get more (which I don't really expect), we may have to do something on a larger scale.
Another limiting factor would be terrain. I have enough for a single 6x4 table. Again, if it's a small number of people, that might not be a problem, as I can make some more. If we have a lot, it could get more complicated.
Also, Non-IG armies and non IGMB members are welcome, so if somebody you know wants in on this, bring them along. I'm thinking of having a table or two set aside for painting, if people want to do that (they'll have to bring their own paint, brushes, etc).
Also, depending on attendance, we could have an Apoc battle, two Apoc battles running at the same time, or just a bunch of smaller ones.
Again, it all depends on how many we get. I'm hoping for about a dozen at most (to limit costs), but more would be welcome, of course.

I might be able to swing someplace large enough. But I don't know about the 4x6 tables. Or terrain for them. If it's a small enough number of people, everyone could bring a dish, or something. I don't know, I cook, but that doesn't mean everyone else does.
Again, the logistics will be a pain.

I cook too, but that doesn't mean it's edible after I'm finished with it. I'm hoping to get a good idea of how many people we can expect this week or next, and then we can go from there. I also need to know my work schedule before I can commit to anything. Once we get a firm grasp of people, we can hammer out all the details. Reds

This sounds like a cool idea, and I would love to participate in something like this. The one problem is that I don't get a lot of vacation from work, and just used up almost all that I have, so I wouldn't be able to come to anything in the next 6-8 months. Also, I heard about something similar a while back: www.siegeworld.com/Perhaps you could use some of their ideas or get some advise from the organizers.

Welcome to the IGMB!
What part of VA are you in, roughly? I'm outside of D.C., so how long of a trip would it be for you?
This would almost certainly be on a weekend (I hope you get those off, at least). If there's are some dates this summer that does work for you, let me know via PM.
And yea, I took a look at the Siegeworld stuff a while back. I may have to call on their wisdom.

I'm also in Northern VA, about half an hour south of DC. Woodbridge, to be precise. And, unfortunately, the days I get off from work are Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Well, I was thinking that someone could drive me and carry me in. I do have human friends that could do that. Just not all the way to Northern VA or the middle of the east coast.

Canadian laptops... couldn't you hijack a charter plane or something? And get the friend to carry you that way? All that junk is handled online anyway...

She wouldn't even have to pay. Just hack someone's credit card info and charge them for it. One day...computers will take over. That's why I keep this around. *pats EMP generator*

ElegaicRequiem & The Envoy: Its not that I can't hijack a plane or commit credit card fraud, my friends just don't have the energy to travel for at least two days just for me. And I can't drive myself; I don't have any hands.
