So i was just flicking through the codex, trying to decide on leman russ hull mounts and I re-read the crack shot rule for Pask.
I was suprised to read the line "all shots add +1 to any armour penetration rolls". Does this mean that a weapon rolling two dice, such as a vanquisher or multi melta, would add +1 to each roll? This would make a vanquisher slightly more deadly don't you think?
Also, can a +1 increase a dice to over 6? I know you can't increase stats like strength to over 10 but does the same apply to dice?
Thinking about buying a krieg vanquisher as the command tank for my russ company. Was going to add Pask anyway but is he really better than i thought?

Yes to both questions.

When rolling armour pen with Pask, its weapon strength + d6 + 1. In the case of meltaguns and the vanquisher cannon its strength + 2d6 + 1 (not + 1 to each dice rolled)
You are correct with the +1 adding to the dice not the strength of the weapon.

But wouldn't the "+1 to any armour penetration rolls" count to both rolls? In the case of ordnance, with 2d6 and select the highest, you would add to both rolls even though you only select one.

Not exactly. For the "Armour Penetration Roll" for the Vanquisher, you throw down 2d6. Those dice combined count as the roll. Same with Ordnance. Roll 2d6, take the highest, and add +1 to the highest, since that's the final result of your armour penatration roll.
Actually, it doesn't matter if you add the +1 to both d6 for the Ordnance roll. You still only take the highest, so it's irrelevant what the other one is, even if you do add +1 to it.

I'd still be tempted to leave him in a standard russ, because then his BS benefits for when he's not targeting tanks by reducing scatter more.
Also factor in the fact that the standard Russ is a viable tank killer, with pask a battlecannon has a chance of penetrating AV14.

Thanks guys, thought I may have been wrong about it. Read the "Dice" section at the start of the rule book and it cleared it up.
Was thinking of taking either an exterminator or a vanquisher as the command tank for my company. Going to have 3 demolishers and 6 lrbt. Think i will come down on the side of the vanquisher, if only because that kreig alpha model looks awesome.

I've been running a Pask-quisher since the new codex came out, and have yet to achieve anything better than an immobilized result with it in any of the games that I've fielded it in. I feel let down, and others have suggested that Pask is most effectively used with an Exterminator.... Just my $0.02.
