Nice seeing a guy who can make a unit without making it over the top.. I might consider making it open topped.. A MAN 8 truck only has a tarp over it.. Stubber fire goes through that.. Other than that it dosn't seem to broken..

A fair point regarding the open topped quality, however I think in this instance what is being refered to is the "hard-cased" trailer as pictured.
Maybe have an option for the vehicle to be open topped - therefore gaining fire points to represent the transpoted squad "lifting up" the tarp to fire?
In general, this would vehicle would prove awesomefor the commander who has a "mechanised platoons" based army but wanted to add mechanised conscripts (don't want to waste Chimeras on the cannon fodder brave new recruits...)
Just have to lay my hands on some suitable truck toys now... oh and actually buy a "mechanised Platoons" army...

I did 'toy' with the idea of open topped (apologies for the bad pun, I couldn't resist) but this one is a hard trailer and this is kinda reflected in the points cost, though variants may be in order these are just a rough framework of rules though so if you want to do open topped trucks, just knock a few points off, (I reckon between 5-10 points would be fair) more than that and they would be silly cheap! A gun-truck might also be an interesting idea.....

That's a great model. What kit did you use to make the cargo-8?

Pure awesome.
I love the idea of smaller trucks with multiple stubbers and a smaller transport capacity; perhaps a modified cargo 6?

sure the measurement are as follows; (imperial is rough measured) height; (base of wheel to top of cargo block) = 85mm/ 3 1/2" height;(base of wheel to top of Cab) = 60mm/ 2 1/4" width; (wheelbase) = 57mm/ 2 1/4" Length; 233mm/ 9 1/2" Or you can do what i do and keep a Cadian in your pocket and direct compare in the shop, you might get some funny looks, but when you go to the counter with 15+ identical toy trucks, and you forget to take your kids along as an excuse, you tend to get funny looks anyway If you want any other dimensions let me know

Are those the wheels that it came with or did you replace them with 40k wheels?

Good find, anyway. It's amazing what models you can find lying around in obscure shops.

Very nice conversion and the rules seem fairly balanced, except for the fact its a fast vehicle. Does not seem like it should be fast to me when compared to other vehicles.
Anyway, excellent conversion. I will have to volunteer to take the little ones out to the toy store more often to find these little gems.

About having it open topped, why not make it default open topped and give it the option of Enclosed Crew Compartments?

About having it open topped, why not make it default open topped and give it the option of Enclosed Crew Compartments? I second that idea.. Also about the fact that it is fast, might work better if you make so that it can go a ekstra d6 instead of being all out fast..?

can I be really really annoying.. and suggest the '8' refers to the number of wheels on the cargo vehicle... at least that's the way I read the concept.
Nice truck though... a little convoy of those would be awesome!.. and great rules too, I'm always digging in charity shops and toy shops for stuff like this... I found great jungle plants for fish tanks in my nearest £1 store the other day, 4 for a quid, awesome!
oh, and for cargo mesh netting, try car bodywork repair mesh - again its really cheap and once painted green looks awesome, could work well on the open topped variety over a few roof beams.

Counts as a tank for purposes of Ramming if it goes flat out. 'Cause it y'know hits like a truck.

Some great suggestions, I will probably be revisiting the rules soon, to clean them up a bit and incorporate some of the input cheers to all
