Okay which A*sehole, nerfed this one? 120mm tank cannon as HEAVY and a 72" range !!! They need shooting. I for one will stick to the IA vol 1 rules thank you very much.

For this kind of downgrade, one should pay 120 not 155.

Indeed, but at least you still get the 2d6 AP from AT round right? I haven't seen new rules fully yet...

120 might be a bit cheap for a tank that on an average die roll will pen AV14.

I made my vanquisher into a piggy bank. Seemed to be the best use for it.
(I'm not kidding)

Hey, I think it's worth every penny, especially if you need to kill Land Raiders or other Russes. I mean yes, it did lose the ability to fire a large blast and the AT rounds, but, as Dragoon 6 pointed out, it got a point drop, and if it had kept both abilities, nobody would take any other kind of Russ, since the Vanq would fill just about every role.
Yes, it's specialized, but so is ever other variant. And 72" is 6 feet. If your target is farther away then that, then there's not much point in bothering with it, unless you're fighting another IG army.

Hey, I think it's worth every penny, My vanquisher is full of pennies. EDIT: I will admit that if you really have to reach out and touch a tank its a great way to do it. If it had AP1 I would take one all the time. At least the way it is now if you hit you can at least keep them from shooting you (which is sometimes all that matters).

Vanquisher is passable... could REALLY do to be AP1. I think it would suit its role, anyways.

Fluff wise, I can't see why it isn't Ap1. This is the Grandpapa of all tank hunters. The Bane of Armor. The King of crunchy bits!
But for Balance, I suppose it was needed.

I find the 2d6 for armour pen. enough. That damn Hammerhead... that damn Landraider... that damn other Russ... heh... meet my new Variant! PRESENTING THE VANQUISHER! It has a big gun! all the better to get a lot of attention from the enemy! ;D (yes i ripped off its sponsons... such a waste on an AT tank. )

I love the feel of the tank, and in general it seems awesome. But i have yet to use it in battle so do not know how well it would perform. However that wont stop me from owning a few, as the FW turret is way too cool. Check out my list in the army list section and give me your thoughts... It uses vanquishers... a lot.

Vanquisher's have strong potential, but all to often, if find it to be little more than that. POtential. Even with pask, I struggle to hit trgets with this tank. That being said, for all the reliability problems it has, when ti hits, it HITS. as a famous admiral once declared, "It's a hit, a very palpable hit!"

Devil Dog is better, especially with the new blast rules. I always liked the Vanquisher for its versatility, now I don't think I'll be using one.

I think it will gain a better reputation when "planet strike" comes out. It seem to be quite a great bunker opener.

I haven't honestly had a chance to use one, but I can already see how it's going to go. I'm going to spend a lot on putting one out with Pask, and then I'm not going to roll a 3+ to hit for the life of me. It's the Murphy's law of spending a lot of points on something that shoots once per turn. I seriously can't even think of a time my Predator Annihilator got a solid tank kill, and that thing is loaded with twin linked redundant lascannons out the wazoo.

Put Pasks Vanquisher next to your company commander and use "bring it down" order on Pask to get the vanquisher twin linked.

Put Pasks Vanquisher next to your company commander and use "bring it down" order on Pask to get the vanquisher twin linked. There you go. That should in theory just about guarantee one or more armor kills. Just make sure you keep that combo well entrenched behind cover, because it's got a great big "shoot me" sign over it.

Seems like a tank that is better siuted for use in a squadron if you ask me. Three of these firing on the same target 6 feet away would be devistating to say the least. That also said, only in large games (map and points) do I see this tank coming into its own. Forget the sponsons, no stubber/stormbolter, maybe a HK and maybe some cammo netting, but then you start paying alot for a squad of tanks that can dominate enemy tanks in a a 6 foot swath of board. 450 some odd points seems worth it for the destruction that they will cause in an Apoc game.

Yeah, Pask doesn't have a separate statline, he just alters the Russ's BS and adds a couple special Rules. It's still a single Vehicle, though.

Used my Vanquisher in 2 games saturday. It was my only anti tank... I was fighting a little kid so i took it as a week spot in my army... Armour 14 week spot...? So it did ok, while not spectacular. It was a 1000 point game(followed by a 1000 point game vs a veteran GK player with 2 raiders...). The kid had one raider, tactical, command(that was by himself just sitting around..), 5 scouts and 5 assault marines. It ended as a draw(mostly from sideline talk telling him where to go.... Back to the vanquisher...
My vanquisher set up was as follows: Vanquisher Pask Lascannon Multimelta Sponsons
I never once used the sponsons because the rock i was hiding behind made it impossible for them to see. The cannon and lascannon hi most of the time, and the cannon ALWAYS got a penetrating hit. But my roles could not have been worse with what happens and it was only ever stunned and lost a sponson. Which wasnt all bad.
And as a plus, it never received more than a stunned one time. So not bad.
I will always be taking one(pask or not, i made it so i can swap) and maybe more depending on the points.
oh ya! Against the grey knights it died horribly... We both hid behind terrain and would not come out till the other person did. And since he is stubborn as a mule i jumped mine out, threw out some smoke and took 4 lascannons to the front. Failed all 3 saves and died... Sucked. The game ended turn 5 as a draw.
It was very nice having ask in this tank and i dont see him going in any other for me. A few more games and ill be using this tank like a true ace.
