RT's insane PDF list (1500 Points). « Thread Started on Feb 16, 2011, 7:31pm »
This list is designed for fun play, and is not meant to be super-effective or indeed anything but an exercise in building a fun, fluffy PDF Guard list with the materials I have at hand. If I wish to crush people without mercy, then I will break out my aerial cavalry.

Second rewrite, using the DKoK Siege list as a template. I'm nicknaming this lot "Gustav's Raiders". By the way, it's a free list, so I'm posting up the point costs.

So long as your friends let you play superheavies in a regular game, looks good and fun to me -- especially if you have an equally fluffy opponent who's willing to play a horde of cultists or orks that will be easier to kill with this list than MEQs.

I like the list RT. You will probably have a fun time playing it. You could swap the flamers for som good olīgrenade launchers if you want to add some long range firepower. But then again if something comes close to your infantry, three flamers will be great.

Basic tactics:
Defensive.
The Malcador and the Chimeras hold their ground. The infantry relies on sheer weight of numbers to hold down the objective. Enemy units are subject to a weight of short and medium-range fire. As the enemy closes, the Rough Riders come out of reserve, lower their lances and smash headlong into the enemy like Genghis Khan and His Mongol Hordes. The Ogryns will launch a counteroffensive into a more vulnerable part of the enemy force. With luck, a glorious victory will be won. If things go wrong, the Rough Riders will turn up late (resulting in the Guardsmen being wiped out. In this model the Penal Troopers will hopefully turn up in time to launch spoiling attacks on enemy objectives, either contesting or claiming.
Offensive:
The Rough Riders advance behind the armour. The infantry follow. A glorious, close-range charge is executed into the enemy formations, preferably with the Penal Troopers in support. Ogyrns and infantry follow up to grind the enemy into paste. The Malcador and the Chimeras will provide fire support.

Right...so I've made no progress on this list. Aside from painting up 4 beastmen and 6 penal troopers. However, Defiance Games have just released their USMC kit, so I'll definitely be having a look at that shortly.
Must change that - I'll at least finish off the Malcador shortly. Also, debating whether to replace the CCS' Chimera with a Centaur.
