So, this is a WIP project, and to that only the very first introduction to the company. I would appriciate any critism on the work so that I can improve it.
Background on the 1411th Heimguard Company ”Devil Dancers”
The 1411st company of Heimguard is unique, compared both to standard Imperial organization and Heimguardian organization.
To understand how, it is a need to know how the standard infantry COY is organized.
On Heimguard, the term “regiment” is used in a different matter then in most Imperial forces. The highest fighting unit in the Heimguardian way is the Division. Each division is built on 5 regiments, which contains 5 battalions. The battalion is made up of 5 companys.
Each division is a big enough force to take on small campaigns on their own, that is at least the thought behind it. Divisions and regiments has all the necessary functions to fight, as ordnance and tank units.
The specialization starts on the battalion level, with 3 infantry battalions, 1 tank battalion and 1 CSS (Combat Support and Service) battalion.
The companies of the infantry battalion is 3 infantry companies, 1 support company (including ordnance and recon) and 1 CSS company.
The 1411th COY is, as such, the first company in the first battalion in the fourth regiment. The division number is the final (or first) 1.
The first company of each battalion is supposed to be a mechanized COY, although the rush during the training and organization of the division left the company without any vehicles. Note that not even a mechanized COY has their own LRBT or ordnance.
The world of Heimguard had never raised an imperial guard regiment, due to ministorium neglect . The world was simply forgotten during the tithes to the guard.
During the third war for Armageddon all that changed. The need of more forces was great, and many worlds was either forced to train more regiments or start organize. Heimguard was during all this suddenly remembered and forced to set up 10 regiments containing 5 companies each.
When the leaders was informed about their new tithe they decided to get instructors from Cadia, a world made famous for their elite regiments. The instructors varied in all ranks, from sergeants to colonels, to be able to speed up the training.
It worked as well as anyone could hope, although the Cadians soon tried to convince the Heimguardian leaders to organize the forces in the standard imperial way, but in this they failed.
When the training was completed the entire division was sent to Armageddon. The first company to land on the planet was to be the 1411th. It was then disaster struck.
During the decline the shuttle containing the 1411 malfunctioned. In the crash the crew of the shuttle and almost the whole company lost their lives.
The survivors was so few that could only organize one platoon and a command squad for the captain. After doing so they reported to the division HQ, that had safely landed a couple of hours after the crash. Soon Faust and his men got a position in the battle line.
Next thing to do is to tell a bit about the captain, Faust. I'll probably get the part behind their name "Devil Dancers" then as well (Hint: it involves a Hellhound and a squad of catachan devils).
The information on the world is to be written at a later stage, because that's not as important (for me atleast) when I paint and build my army.
