Hello fellow Guardsmen! Back in my introduction thread, I promised to put up some pictures of my Guard. Her they are. I thought ti make this my project log here on the Message Board. so here they are. More will come, I need to dig some pictures up. Well, here's the boring stuff, I will take pics of the tanks I have later on, as well as more pics of individual models. As soon as I have all the Pictures p from everything I got, I will post my WIP's here too. Eventually, this will be a big Guard log. (I hope)

Ah, the rank and file aren't always the "boring" ones Is that two platoons you have there? Good to see your models Mohawk - looks like quite a different colour scheme you've got there. I like it, but I would strongly advise doing something with the bases.

thanks. Thst's only 1 platoon. but I swap models and upgrades when I need to play a game. Whatever I feel like kitting out my units out with.
you are not the 1st one to advise me on the bases. I'll try to make 'em full of rubbles eventually. (As they are meant to be City fighters.)

Easiest way I've found is simply sticking sand on, then painting it brown with a quick highlight of light brown/cream and then stick on static grass. I find it really effective.
Just one platoon you say? Kudos on the big platoon size then! Seemed like there was two command squads though? Is one Company command and the other Platoon command?

cool colour scheme, nice to see a change from the norm, if your gonna base them i'd suggest keeping the bases fairly dark, as it'll tie in nicely.
If you want a quick ish urban base, i just glue sand over the base, basecoat the sand black then give it a dry brush of codex grey and a light dry brush of space wolves grey when it's dry. this looks ace as a gravelly tarmac surface, and is super easy to do. Add the odd line in the tarmack or bit of rummble, job done.

When I did my urban scheme for my HW team bases I used the sprues to represent fallen debris. Just painted it like metal girders, things like that.
You don't even really need to base it with sand, as the base itself looks a lot like asphalt. Painting a white or yellow line somewhere on the base can represent the fact that the unit is on a street.

Thanks for the tips guys. Gabriel Lupus: , there isn't a Company command squad in there. It just 1 platoon squad, 3 infantry squads (1 with heavy bolter) and a heavy weapon squad (mortars). I assembled some test models for my Veterans a while back. Greenstuffed 'kilts' and a bonnet taken from the Victrix highlander boxed set. Painted up the 1st one, but I am not entirely convinced about the idea. They look cool, but they look like they are a parade force, not an actual fighting unit. I did them a while back, and I took up another Idea for the veterans after playing Killzone 2 on PS3 for a LONG time. This is how my future veterans will look like. I hope you like it. Mohawk.

These are some really nice looking models your paint scheme is great. I especially like the weathering effect you achieved on their armor and uniforms. My only criticism is that I wish you had treated the flesh tones your guardsmen like you did on your ogryns.

Doh! *slaps forehead*
Just realised that, what I initially thought were two different command squads was in fact the same command squad from a different angle... stupid me...
Never mind. Looking forward to seeing how the mk2 vets turn out...

Those Urban Mammoth figs are pretty cool looking. I'll have to check them out.
The idea of painting a yellow line on a bare base is simple and clever, I like it!
Also, the base you did for the IG fig in the middle of the comparison shot will be just fine for the rest of your army. It looks like some got a silver base, doesn't really work for me. But this base? Pretty good.

thanks! Yeah, I was thinking the same about those bases. When I have some more time on my hands, I'll have to base all of them that way. But for now, painting is at the top of my list, and basing is at the bottom...
