The Mousillon Host « Thread Started on Mar 5, 2012, 7:55am »
I am currently working on a Mousillon themed Vampire Counts army, an undead mockery of Bretonnian chivalry. I have attempted this army once before, and didn't get very far, but with the latest kits the job has become far easier. Mousillon is a Bretonnian city ruled by undead, a damned city of lost souls, criminals, and vagrants. Despite being undead, they cling to their Bretonnian trappings and customs, maintaining their knights and peasant levies. My army will be led by a vampire magic user, eschewing combat upgrades, she is a once fair Bretonnian sorceress corrupted, who then proceeds to taint her followers, raising an army of wight horsemen, irreversibly tainting the local grail shrine with her blood, it now feeds on the essence of those that come to worship, draining their very lives and binding them to it. These damned souls now carry it aloft, lifting the very rock of the shrine into the air, caged in the wailing bones of a cygor that came to destroy it. Undead the leaders may be, but the degenerate Bretonnian peasants are still loyal to their rulers, and the army core is made up of ghouls to represent the still living peasantry. The corpse cart is a mockery of the Bretonnian grail reliquae, a once-proud knight borne by tireless zombie pilgrims, dark magic invigorating those around.
It is all still work in progress, but I have two weeks off work this month, and plan to get the army completed during that time. Still to come are a second unit of ghouls, some dire wolves, some skeletons to raise, and some undead pegasus knights. All the black knights will have various heraldry in the black and yellow of mousillon. Vargheists, the new flying monstrous infantry, are the ideal unit to represent undead pegasus knights rules wise. I have a terrorgheist built too, and the wraiths I posted in a different thread.
And I being poor, I have only my dreams I have spread my dreams under your feet Tread softly, for you tread on my dreams

They look really nice, good luck painting them. I can't wait to see the results. VC have always been one of my favorite WHFB armies, their new models look fantastic too.

It is called Barony of the Damned.
Quote:
Mousillon is a land cursed by evil and death. For years, this forlorn place has festered with its own corruption, inhospitable to even the most disgusting vermin. But now, a new force has emerged, and enemy that could plunge all of Bretonnia into war. It is against this backdrop that the Player Characters meet Mousillon in all its filthy ugliness.
In Barony of the Damned, the Player Characters are hired by a powerful noble to bring back the head of a nefarious agitator, Guido LeBeau. In following his trail, it's clear the fugitive sought safety inside Mousillon. Travelling through the wilderness, they must contend with Mousillon's peasants and nobles alike, as they track their quarry to the city itself. Once inside Mousillon, they find themselves embroiled in a twisted tale of intrigue and investigation, thwarting the plots of pirates, murderers, and even the blasphemous force behind the Barony of the Damned. But escaping Mousillon is no easy task. Once inside, there's no getting out unless they can find the head of their prey.
Barony of the Damned is a stand alone adventure for Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, designed to breathe life into one of Bretonnia's more infamous lands. In addition to the adventure, this book details the Mousillon, its history, its people, and politics. Inside you'll find several new monsters like the Grey Men, new diseases such as the Rod Pox and the Swampaire's Croup, and two new careers: the Frogwife and the Swampaire. In addition, this book presents statistics and information on all the important characters found in this foetid land.
Can the heroes survive the terrors of Mousillon long enough to bring back the head of Guido LeBeau? Find out in Barony of the Damned.

thanks very much, nothing is finished yet, all work in progress, not finished painting anything yet. As I said, I have next week off work and plan to get it done. I have all the models now pretty much, so that is the intention for my holiday

thanks very much, I am really enjoying painting the undead, got nowhere with my 40k armies lately, but I keep picking up the brush on these guys, very satisfying.

But yeah, the WFB kits that have been released lately really are things of beauty, and definitely seem to be pushing the limits of injection molding technology. It's just too bad that I have absolutely no interest in the system--which is probably a good thing because I really don't have room for more armies, or time to paint them...

one more day of work, then one week of holiday, hells yeah. Hopefully I can get the undead finished, along with the grey knights, then crack on with ogres and necrons.
