So I'm returning to 40k after a number of years. So thought I would do a blog thread of my painting projects. Bagan this week with nothing, and the aim is for 1k points to be painted for my first game in a long time, tomorrow. I will update this post with further pictures as I finish models. Please leave feedback below... My Commissar Lord, My Regimental Standard for my yet to finish CCS My CCS, althought the Plasma's still need eyes and a few tiny touches. Have just finished 10 Storm troopers, (although these will be veterans for the time being.) I am trying, as far as possible, to keep the camoflauge on uniforms the same, so all Kasakin armour has been patterned to look the same. My plan is to continue this with the IS to look the same as the Standard etc.

Good stuff. I wish I could figure out how to do camo fatigues, but for whatever reason, it just seems to be beyond me right now. I love the pattern and colors you've got going. Keep it up!

Is it customery to edit the original thread when adding new photos, or posting them as a reply to the thread?

Hi Fella
I agree with one of the above the standard is especially good.
I like what you have done. My guard actually use the same sort of colouring, that is fenris blue yeah? I havent attempted camo on th fatigues but you have managed to pull it off. When i try it just ends up cluttered or too random. How did you decide where to put a white or a black line?
The missle launching squads look pretty nifty too!

Thanks. Hoping to post some more pics soon, as soon as I have finished painting and basing them. The base colour is the old colour shadow grey. I still have some of this, so I haven't yet need to work out the replacement. The camo patterning was copied out of the old IG guard codex, painting the guardsmen at easy first as faithfully as I could and the making up the back half of the camo is similar style.

Wow that camo looks nice, especially on the Kasrkins! Where did you get that at-ease Guardsmen in your command squad? I've been looking for one for awhile and can't find it.

I paid £6 for two during the eye of terror roadshow. but where probably talking getting on for 10 years ago now. as said, they come up now and then. the dream would be to make a whole squad of them ready for inspection by the force commander.

I'm liking the camo work you've done. Anyway we could get some more pics of that commissar from other angles? I'm really curious to see more of this conversion

Here is some more of the commissar. fairly basic conversion, cutting away the plasma pistol to leave the hand, and cutting the bilt pistol of the command sprue, removing the hand from the pistol and gluing the two together. The power axe was simply removing the sword and adding an axe from my old warhammer dwarfs. this required pinning though as otherwise it would just break off. Hopefully more pics of other units in the next few days.

Thanks for the other pics! That's one of my favorite models as it's just an interesting dynamic pose. I really like what you've done with it. Definitely a simple, but really nice conversion.

The first of my LRBT: Have to say, was totally taken by surprise and thrilled when I noticed on my sheet of IG transfers GW had thought to include CXXII. Unbelievably to me, in their wisdom they decided to include the company transfer for 122nd despite the studios having only ever painted one model in the army camo. Was very happy to say the least. Just need to do some weathering. But panning to wait and do all the tanks together.

I'm happy to see they had that transfer included as well. And I love the camo scheme, you've done it perfectly. Very nice models.
Makes me think I should start playing again!!!

They're featured in WD no. 261 in a battle against Night lords csm, and also in the old codex: cityfight and codex: eye of terror from around 3rd ed.
