First off, sorry the lack of posts of late, been busy/lazy. Anyways, for the longest time I've wanted to make a humvee type unit from a space marine land speeder to act as sentinals for my IG army, but my previous attempts met with dismal failure. The original land speeder kit is just too small to make a believable humvee/lmtv, although it does make a very passable jeep in some of the conversions I've seen before here and elsewhere. When I first laid eyes on the Land Speeder Storm I knew that it would be the solution to my troubles. Its ~1.4 times longer than its predecessor and comes with WAY more stuff and a far easier to work kit (Thank you GW for many tiny pieces...). So for the last 3 days I've been coming up with the design for my vehicle, and here it is at about 80% completion. The suspension was inspired by the Warthog from the Halo series and the turret was inspired from modern day turret gun shields. This was a relatively straightforward conversion, but I still have had to go back and "redo" entire sections several times to get things just right. As you can tell I still need to do quite a bit of detail work on the front of it and some work on the left side too, but on the whole its coming along awesome. Oh, and the odd autocannon was just something I threw together with spare Ravenguard bits that I was granted by my friend Mike. Seriously, I have more assault cannons now than I know what to do with! Questions, Comments, Praise, Sacrifices unto my glory? Have at it...

thats pretty damn good! only thing i think it needs is bigger wheels set further apart in both length and width. probably just moving the front wheels to uner the section that looks like a wheel arch at the front

I didn`t notice the wheels being to small but I think thats because I am distracted by the AWSOME suspension! It looks cool, defiantly humve-ey

if you just move the front suspension arms forward i think you can get away without changing the wheels actually. also how about a clear windscreen and side windows?

Looks great, but I agree with everyone about the wheels. I like the turret, but from the side it looks a bit jumbled, some of the pieces just look 'stuck on'. Oh and I love those details on the side.

I really like the look of the hull, but I with the rest on the wheels, personally I'd got with bigger wheels.

Reminds me of some kind of Halo-esque Warthog/Hummvee transport mish-mash...

I am doing a similar conversion to count as a salamander scout vehicle. I used some aftermarket 1:35 scale wheels that are actually rubber with styrene hubs. They look really nice and are proportioned well to this particular conversion. I wish that I had thought about what you did for the suspension as it would have been far easier than scratch building the entire tranny and suspension system... Take a look at these Trumpeter 1:35 scale wheels. You get 8 wheels to a pack, so if you wanted you could do 2. Or do what I did and make 6 wheeled Chimeras for my PDF force... www.megahobby.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=13488

First off, Thanks for the link CommissarBob, I'll be sure to check those out!!! Second, its done!!! Here is the copy of my deviantart posting for these. fc09.deviantart.com/fs46/f/2009/238/5/4/Imperial_Guard_LMTV_top_2_by_WordBearer.jpg[/img] As some of you asked I am currently using these as Armored Sentinals in a dual role of transport/mc hunter and countercharger. The Autocannon is a great option for killing rhinos and other transports and its dirt cheap (Just a 5 point upgrade!), this combined with the hunter killer missile and walkers inherent ability to fire up to two weapons on the move allows for me to get at least 1-2 full rounds of shooting off with these guys, so between the two I'm using at the moment I expect them to at least stall 1 transport if not 2 each game. Once the enemy gets up close these guys zip out and charge into close combat. With armor 12 on the front most enemies won't be able to kill them in 1 round of combat, isolating them away from the battle and giving me precious time to kill the rest of the enemy. If you were wondering no, I don't expect these things to survive a game, ever... As for the conversion, again it was rather straight forward. Here are the highlights if you want to make one for yourself: 1. The suspension was made using the mounts for a dozerblade from the Imperial Guard Tank Accessory Sprue. You should be able to get these easy. The wheels themselves are from space marine bikes, again they are easy to get online. You should be able to figure out how I did it from the bottom view pic. Note that for it too look right you will need to cut out a wheel well for the front wheels. 2. The back of the landspeeder slopes at a downward angle which makes it hard to get the roof flat. Just clip off the widgets that fit it in place and wvalla (No idea how that's spelled...) Yeah, thats about it, if you have other questions feel free to shoot them off. I'll try to have this guy painted soon.

If GW made a véhicule for our IG that looked like this, I would run and stop at nothing in direction of my local GW store and buy 12 of them!!! Awsome!!! I'd pay 50$ for that, man!

Really? Would that be $50 total or $50 plus the parts needed to make it. I wouldn't really mind building these for $50 for people as they don't take too long to make and the parts only cost about $34.

Well, a LRBT cost approx 50$ here. So if they had a kit like that, I'd pay that for it!
