I saw some of the models at Maelstrom on the meet up, and thought 'they look nice'. After checking out the website, I also noticed that all the rules etc are available for FREE download. www.infinitythegame.com/And now Maelstrom are having and alternate-gamer sale, so it works out that the majority of the Infinity starter armies are around £10 cheaper than they would normally be. At £40 for a decent/basic army of awesome miniatures, I'm more than interested. Question is, does anybody else play, or is interested in starting, then I can swap notes with them?

It looks great, but I'm not seeing cheap. I'm seeing 7.75 euros for a single mini. They ain't packs of three. Look on the right side; that's one mini, and the 33 euro thing was only for 6 metal minis. That's waay more than Wargames Foundry minis, and people think they're expensive.
Still it's good stuff. Nice sculpts and interesting slightly futuristic, yet based on the modern world manga. The Caledonian-Highlander models in the Ariadne set are just jaw-dropping..

Maelstrom stock them at a discount (10-15%) and at the moment (untill next monday) theyre adding another discount, bringing a reduction of 18% off in total. The fact that an 'army' is around 10-15 figures also makes it better for the wallet. I'm glad you like the Ariadna set, that's the one I'm looking at I like the 'manga' pan-oceana one, although it's the most expensive start-up of the 7 sets, so financial reasons I'm going to dodge that one!

Sorry for double post, it won't let me edit for some reason...? I got this set I had to add in the minis to the Maelstrom basket (as they don't do the full set) although it is a 'legal' 300 point army, which is the average in Infinity. Was meant to be £57 without discount, was £46 with. Over a tenner saving ;D Just dont tell my missus!!! I'll stick some pics up when they arrive! I'm excited ;D

My fave pack in that range is the 45th Highlander rifles 'Galweglan' set, but it looks like that isn't in your deal.
There are loads of models that could do brilliant as stand in guardsmen, although this stuff isn't really for making armies with. Actually you could use these minis in RT's Tempest skirmish game, as well as Infinity. It looks like mostly autoguns and some heavier machine guns on the actual models.

3ff3ct, you realise that just because the rules are free doesn't mean you have to buy their ridiculously-priced miniatures?

It's expensive for a reason, though. Good sculptors always overprice their minis. Look at McVey..

Or Steve Bish at Immortal. £12 for 24 of the best-sculpted hoplites on the market.

This is true, although I do like the minis. I could have played with guardsmen stand-ins, but I think a change from painting GW miniatures will do me good.

The guns are pretty good.
What colour tartan are you going for?

What colour tartan are you going for? The million dollar question.... I'm unsure at the moment. I know nothing about tartan or clan colours or anything. I think a bit of googling should sort it out. A nice medium-sized box appeared today These are the ones that aren't multi-part. I'm pretty sure you know what a zip-lock bag of metal parts looks like They do need a bit of cleaning, although I have to say I like the detail and the daintyness of the models (as they are more 'true to life' proportioned than your average ham-fisted, block-headed guardsman).

They're fabulously detailed. Just looking at the last pic, the inside of her jacket; I like that crinkly effect of the rubber-bandy thing that you get in jackets in RL. It's almost like the sculptors pay attention to real life. Does it mention on the packaging who the sculptor is?

Directed here by cheminhaler from my darkhive thread. I like the models and thank the game looks awesome, but I don't know if I could get any of my friends into it with me. Also the Ariadna look awesome, though I'm considering getting the Pan Oceanic starter force for its Gue'vesa (Guardsmen turned greater good) look.

Even if you get the models and nobody wants to play with Infinity rules, just use them as guardsmen, or in whatever other system you play. The fact that the rules are free is irrelevant, if you're friends don't want to play them.

I am so getting me some of those, for some scifi gang shootouts.
Everyone can easily see that they are a small elite merc team sent to take out a drug lord. It is obvious. Now where to find a druglord and his ganger. Off to copplestone casting and wargames foundry sites......
BTW could you take a closeup pic of one of them standing next to a GW plastic cadian?

Yes I will do at some point. They're a bit thinner although roughly the same height. Still not finished these as I've been busy with Orks and the Titan....

I had a friend that played this. Sadly, he has moved away and I never got the chance to try it. Ariadna all the way though, those models are sexy.
