So, it's a new year (and has been so for the past month). I need to get motivated, and get some stuff done. I'm going to start a sort of blog, but not your typical 'blog'. Mostly there are just going to be finished model pics, with a few WIPs as I have time for photos. I mainly want to progress as a painter and modeler so please tell me how I'm doing!. Also, in preparation for the summer gaming season, I want to get ready, so there will be eventual battle reports w/ pics to go along with this. THE FOLLOWING IS SLIGHTLY OUTDATED; GO FARTHER DOWN FOR AN UPDATESo to start it off, here is a full army shot as of recently: This has almost everything, minus my 'Razor' heavy fighter, a few random models and a few objective markers. My goal, as of now, is to fully finish at least a few models per week, with progress made on others. Below is a list of all the stuff I need to get working on to finish what I have now: CCS4x GL Company Commander (week 4) Body Guard (week 1) Lord Commissar Commissar Yarrick Ministorum PriestMelta Vets3x melta 6x Shotgun (week 3 (3)) Sergeant Chimera Plasma Vets3x Plasma (week 3) 6x Lasgun Sergeant PCSJunior Officer 4x Flamer (3x week 4) Chimera 2x Infantry Squads2x Sergeant 18x lasgun Commissar HW Team (Week 1) Guardsman MarboScout SentinelLR Executioner (week 1) LR Battle TankOther stuff: Catachans w/ demo charges (Week 2) Stormtroopers x2 (week 3 (1)) Arbites x2Ruins x4 sets of ruins (week 2 (1))(week 3 (1)) These will hopefully have an ordnance battery and some more vets added to round out my 1500 point list, but I might not buy those until the local Warhammer auction. That's the plan, that's the models, so here we go! This week, I'm assembling a HW team, painting some objectives and a bodyguard, finishing the LR Executioner and possibly either playing a practice game or some more painting. I'm going to count 'weeks' from Friday to Friday, so this week officially starts on the 28th and runs to the 4th. PROGRESS INDEXWeek 1: 100% complete Week 2: 75% complete Week 3: 100% Complete Week 4: 0% FOR MORE PICS visit my photobucket: s1022.photobucket.com/albums/af349/unluckyguardsman/UG

mmmmm Executioners... mmmmm Nice looking coils on the cannon too - please don't take this the wrong way, but... mould lines... Completely understood. The model was started @ a GW where I had little tools, and I really don't want to go back and sand it down again. Sigh. better luck next time! WEEK 1 PROGRESSThen end of the week draws near, and I've gotten 1 comment! It's a good start. So I finished the bodyguard, and I have finished pics. Unfortunately, he doesn't seem to fit my list @ this moment, but I'll see where he goes. Progress on the banner goes well, all that's left is freehand! UG

The weathering on the bodyguard looks great. Looks like he's taken a couple bullets for his commander Only critism is the highlighting is a little thick in some places. I had the same problem for a long time. Just try to water down the highted color. It should produce great results. Look forward to seeing more, keep it up!

WEEK 2 GOALSSo, Week 1 is concluded and all goals were accomplished. 2 replies, so we're making progress. This week's goals have been decided,, so here we go! We have here a Catachan w/ demo charge, a metal plasma guy, and 2x plastic plasma guys. Goal is to get the demo to tabletop, and the 3 plasma to very good tabletop. Also, I'm going to try to get a scenery piece done as I need some place for good action photos. And just another link for ya'll, my photobucket has a few more photos if you care to look: s1022.photobucket.com/albums/af349/unluckyguardsman/Gaming is in order for this afternoon, as well as two papers! So we come to the end of one heck of a week. Unfortunately, my goals were not fully met. I failed to complete 1 plasma gunner, though he did see progress. He'll be carried over to next week. So, this week's finished models (and terrain): And my 30 min. ruins: I don't have a rear shot, but there is a second level, second door and ruined piping running down. And now for next week's stuff: 3x Shotgunners, and the start of a GG stormtrooper (goal for him is to strip paint, make his base and convert." Hopefully I can get some mid-week WIPs for ya'll this time wround, if not, see ya next friday! UG

Hey guys! Just a text update today. I got the second ruin assembled, and am starting to apply the basecoat grey. I've done a bit of work on the other models, but nothing significant. I also revised/updated the first post, it looks a lot better now. I'm looking for C & C on all the models, so fire away!
Thanks!

So, my GG IV entry is ready to be primed and to rock and roll! Obviously, I won't post the actual pic quite yet, but there is a little teaser for you guys. So, I'll be reporting in later in the week to report on progress, let's see if I can get a reply between now and then! UG

I admire your dedication to sticking to deadlines and actually doing what you say you are going to. I would never be able to do something like this for one week, let alone 3!
I look forward to seeing these shotgunners completed, as well as competing against you in the Golden Guardsmen competition

A day late, but week 3 is complete! A few touch ups and the shotgunners were ready for their photoshoot (along with the plasma from last week): All done to table top quality w/ a bit of free hand on the shoulder pads. I also got another quick ruin finished, hopefully I'll be using them in a game this week end. And the inside shot: So these go very quickly, the idea got started by the IGMBs own Antipope (sp?) so kudos to him for inspiring me. And now the obligatory shot of next week's stuff. 3x flamers to be painted in veteran color scheme (blue & white) and a Company Commander to be painted up in standard cadian garb. I also made progress on my GG IV mini, it's coming along well. See ya'll next week! UG

So, this weekend brought a loss to space marines, and an entire revamp of my list. No more Blob or PCS, more vets and special weapons. This leaves me with a numbering system that no longer works, so a complete re-ordering is in line. So, unfortunately, I won't be meeting Week 4's goals. Instead, I need to come up with a revised color scheme and method of numbering units. The new list can be found @ commissar.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=armylist&action=display&thread=12471 Thanks for bearing with me. UG

How about retaining the numbering system you were using, but Veterans "adopt" the first number assigned to the Platoon they replace?
Eg:
Platoon one were numbered 501 (PCS), 502(INF), 503(INF), 504(INF), 505(INF), 506(INF) Veteran Squad that now replaces this platoon, adopt the number 501.
You could argue that the Veteran squad is made up of the surviving veterans of that platoon - hence taking the PCS number.
Just a quick idea off the top of my long hippy haired head, but it might save you some time...

It's been awhile, but my revamp is back on track, and there's a lot to be done. I have a new organization, and new colors to paint. Plus, some new models will be incoming soon, so get ready! Reorganization! I now have two color schemes, 'Cadian' and 'Blue'. there is also an alternate 'Command' scheme, combining the two. Final models for both schemes are to come. This week is technically a free week, but I'll try to get what i need built, and make up some more terrain. The original list is outdated now, so here's a fresh list of what is to come: CCS A 4x GL (Blue) CC w/ PF (command) CCS B (cadian) Lascannon team CC w/ LP (command) MoO Regimental Standard Lasgunner Veterans (A,B,C,D) 4x Sergeants (2 blue, 2 cadian) 3x Melta (Blue) 4x flamer (2 Cadian, 2 Blue) 3x Plasma (Cadian) Missile launcher team Autocannon team (NP)(Cadian) 10x Lasgunners (Cadian) 10x Shotgunners (Blue) 2x Demo charges (blue) 3x Chimera (Tank scheme) LRBT (tank scheme) LREx (tank sheme) Sentinel (tank scheme) Marbo (centerpiece; cadian) Thank you to those who have posted, I appreciate the feedback. I'll check in again before Friday, so see ya'll then. UG
