Aspecious is under a dire threat within its own town. Chaos has taken Aspecious into its embrace and intends to sacrifice each soul to the Dark Gods for an unknown purpose. The people of Aspecious have come together and with the fear of the Inquisition, the townsfolk have decided to uncover the cultists themselves. The local Priest has declared himself a loyal Emperor follower and will aide his flock in finding the Cultists by assisting in the lynching the chosen victim.
Everyone had gathered in the Chapel. Only 8 people have survived thus far and now it is up to them to find the evil amongst them. They have all agreed to this crude method and until all of the Chaos has been completely destroyed.
'Welcome everyone to the Aspecious Witch Hunt! We shall find these evil cutlists and remove them from our Emperor abiding town! Now come my brothers and sisters! I call thee to vote now!' roared Badicus the local Priest.
'There are 8 of us! We need votes to commit a guilty sole to the Emperor! May we all vote well!'
* * * * *
Day One has begun.
I require 4 votes in order to lynch someone this turn.
Day One Ends - 12/04/2012 (My time +10GMT Brisbane Australia)

emptyhat looked around the chapel room his face grim from the priest’s news that even amongst the last eight that chaos walked amongst them.
“Although the priest’s warning is indeed grim, it is good to know that at least some of us have survived to continue with His work.”
The muscles of his face pulled a little because he did not see a single face he knew from the town, no one he could be sure of.
“We all know what lies ahead but first I think we should introduce ourselves so that we know who we are. The Emperor knows our names but I would like to hear them ring out in defiance against his enemies. I was, I am emptyhat, I was a merchant, I worked in the town’s square”

Eyes everyone suspiciously "My name is Rook and I'm a laborer. Maybe I should say I was a laborer until all this happened."
Pulling out his framing hammer "I don't mean this as a direct threat but if any of you get too close to me I'll spill your brain all over this church floor."
Turning to emptyhat "Merchant you say? What kind of goods do you sell? We may need arms, please tell me you are an arms dealer."

FKM tries to calm himself down.
"The mayor and his family were murdered!"
"I suppose i should tell about who i was. I was a crew member of a cargo ship before this whole mess got started and the ship was impounded. If you'll forgive me i was a bit shocked something like this would happen. I was just working in a bunch of dull gray corridors wishing things were more interesting. Now i wish i was back in them."

Paimon shakes her head. "We should not be telling anyone anything other than our names. Our biggest defense against the cultists is that they don't know our strengths. Emptyhat has just called for us to tell the cultists who they should kill first. I am Paimon, and, unless everyone else calls for it, that is all I will tell you."

FKM ponders. "I think that's a terrible idea. The more we know whether true or false the more their lies will show."

"Tomorrow, after we have had time to gather the character of everyone, we might consider revealing our occupations, and skill sets. Today all that will accomplish is helping the cultists pick their targets.
"FKM, you know the insides of your ship better than anyone else here, I assume that you can hide yourself or someone else in amongst the cargo at night?
"Emptyhat, please, unless it becomes important, don't tell us what you sold in you shop, assuming that you aren't a cultist, access to your merchandise could prove crucial.
"Rook, I can only assume that you plan on hiding in a corner, and braining anyone who comes near you friend or foe?
One or all of these guesses could be completely off base, but it's the kind of thing that the cultists will be thinking about when anyone announces their profession, and potential resources."
With that long tirade, Paimon seems to deflate in on herself with an 'eep', as she realizes that everyone is looking at her.

FKM lets out a grunt. "Yes and by tomorrow somebody else might be dead. Sure we're letting the enemy know things but they are letting us know about them. We'll find out how well what they say holds up. I have no problem with this because i have nothing to hide. You are trying to withhold your profession and make everybody unknown making it easier for the enemy to hide. My ship is impounded even if i knew how to fly it and i can't by myself it's still locked up tight. This doesn't give our enemy anything useful while i ask about our friends's professions and their capabilities making sure they measure up to them when tested. So far being a merchant doesn't really tell much about what our friend emptyhat does and i don't think the enemy can use what he does sell. Rook is a laborer. Most certainly the enemy will use the knowledge of his laboring work against us."
Makes a sarcastic look.
"We also know who to go for when we want something to help us. Know this paimon. I don't know if you're with us or against us but you seem like you're going to get us killed either way."

"I've gotta respect Paimon's finely honed sense of paranoia on this," Wraelis says standing up. "But FKM's got a point here too. It'll help us figure out who's not shootin' straight in this group of strangers. It might prove useful to figure out this lot's story now, rather than later. Though if you're not willing to share the whole thing that won't sell you out as a heretic. We're all a little freaked out by this whole thing and it's gonna be hard trusting any o' you," Wraelis says eying everyone in the room.
"I feel I should probably introduce myself at this point. Name's Wraelis. I used to be a hand on a nearby estate before some of those heretic psychos burned the damn place down and killed nearly everyone inside. I only survived because I was away running errand's for my master's business and that's all you need to know," Wraelis finishes, sitting back down.

Walking with a slight limp, up and down the back of the chapel, Soap tried to listen to the talk of the others at the other end of the building. Stopping dead center, he tried to march towards the others. His uniform was a mess. Ripped at the elbows and knees, covered in dust and mud. His left leg was covered in dryed blood, and they was a hole in his trousers where the blood was darkest.
"My name is Soap, Private, Aspecious PDF". He stopped just short of the group. "I was... I...". His head dropped as he took a breath. "I swore an oath to the emporer, and I will not fall short on my word".
In one swift move he produced a las rifle that had hung from his shoulder. "This is the weapon I will use to expel all enemy's of the emperor, I will not fall short of my words". He repeated himself twice. His young face was white with the fear he had seen, and what he was expecting to see. But he stood firm, with honour in his heart.

FKM stands up. "I think the more we know about each of us the better. I can understand if you walk in the emperor's light and you say you're faithful but being secretive is cowardly and the work of chaos fiends. We have seen them work and cower in the darkness. Shedding some light on these murders and on our group will help us find this filth." *FKM spits after saying this* "I know talk is cheap and faith without deeds is worthless so i will give evidence clear and simple proving my innocence. You can look up data on my life and in what i have done. My family worked the shipyards when i was just a child and i have become part of the crew when it was my turn to take the helm. When this all started the ship was impounded and i became mired in this ugly mess. You can check the ship's data for what i say and prove it as truth. If you can get to access the ship's data logs it should be all the proof we need. What you decide to believe is up to you and the emperor. However i know and believe in his truth. I don't know about all of you but i feel we must act to get to the bottom of this rather than being secretive and becoming idle."
After this fiery display FKM sits down.
"What about the rest of you? What do you say?"

Soap looked shocked at the out burst from FMK.
"You... You can see what iv done! I fought on the front line against the emporers arch enemy". Soap was only 17, but in a few weeks of conflict his face had ages by years. He still held youthful features, but his face said more than words could ever manage.
Soap kept the las rifle at the ready, but not targeting anyone. "I will not kill an innocent man, woman or child. But by the name of the emporor I will take down anyone who turns to chaos!".
Soap was nervous. Not knowing who the enemy was made him agitated. He would need eyes in the back of his head to see this thing through.
"I believe we are going to have to work together here. We can fight between us or the taint of chaos will take that weekness and kill us all! Iv seen what they can do... They... They... They must not take us!"

FKM sighs and then speaks firmly. "So....what's everybody's plan then? We obviously can't waste any time here. Should we check the bodies for clues, look in our living quarters or what? I figure we should all stay together at all times. Getting separated will get us killed. Our enemy is within our ranks but it should be hard for them to act when we're all together. If you wish to route out the enemy among us by going off alone you will put yourself in danger but maybe if we take a count of who is with who and when and measuring stories with each other then we can figure out who the traitors among us are. I would prefer to figure this out without any of us ending up like our mayor here."

As the initial outburst began to die down emptyhat looked around at the stir his words had caused. There was fear, desperation, paranoia and all too little hope.
“Paimon I appreciate your concern. As a merchant I know that knowledge is power and that is very true for all of us here, loyal or not. I won’t push any further for now but I will say that letting the enemy know about us is not our biggest problem. Our biggest problem is that we don’t know how many work against us; do we? Our second biggest problem is that there are so few of us. If we do not act quickly it may be too late to save ourselves, we cannot afford to adopt the mentality that we can wait and see what happens. The Emperor protects but he protects those who protect themselves.”

Paimon sighs. "Fine, I work in the administratum. I pushed papers around all day. I didn't want to say anything because I was afraid that someone might decide that this crisis open an opportunity to get back at the bureaucracy over some imagined slight through me. As though I have direct control over taxation or something.
"Mob rule frightens me, but don't think that that means that I am advocating for inaction. To stand a chance, we will need to stick together, find the heretics and root out their insidious cabal. I do not yet have any strong suspicions, and so I will not yet point the finger of suspicion, lest I colour your own judgements."

"Paimon, I... I don't know if you have ever used this, but..." Soap Dropped the las rifle so it hung across his chest and fiddled with something behind him on his belt. With the slide of metal on metal, Soap produced his bayonet.
"H...h.. Here" he said offering the handle to Paimon. "If... If... Anyone try's anything... Shove it in th...th..them".
Soap offered a slight grin which soon disappeared. "Please, t....t....t take it."

Paimon gingerly takes the blade, and clutches it to her chest. "Thank you Soap. I am no fighter, but I at least know to stick 'em with the pointy end. I feel a little safer now.
"You seem a little worse for wear though. Maybe you should sit down and rest. We'll need you vigilant tonight."

"And we're just to arm everyone then, assuming that it is our friends we equip?" Wraelis sighed. "That lad, has the problem of being rather counter productive in our venture should she be a cultist," Wraelis considers and then continues, "but I would rather arm heretic and faithful Imperial alike than to potentially leave our own unarmed."
Wraelis eyes Soap, "careful whom you put your trust in, lad. There are dangerous people about and not all of them are on our side"

"Thank you for your c... c... concern but my wound j.. just causes discomfort". Soap turned to Wraelis, realising he may have made a grave error. "I think we all n... n... need to be able to defend our s...s... selves". Soap paused and glanced at Paimon. "She will be able to defend herself now, it w... w... will be obvious if she kills one of us, I mean for someone to die by knife injurys... sh... she has a knife".
Soap took a seat on one of the long wooden benches, flinching at the pain in his leg. Hoping that helping Paimon was the right thing to do.

FKM thinks for a bit stroking the stubble on his chin.
"We have no idea how smart our enemy is. If paimon is a traitor she might notice what you just said and not use the knife while she uses something else. Also if she's loyal and you are too and somebody listens to what you said they may pin something on you if we find out we were wrong about her. If you're tainted....well then you could pin a murder on her or something much craftier to misdirect our watchful eyes."
FKM straightens himself out where he's sitting.
"We have to think what our enemies may do to try and stop them. These are the possible outcomes on a fairly basic level from how i see it. I'm not entirely sure how much the knife will help now. I'll try to think more on it later."
FKM looks around.
"We can also figure out a way to root out the traitors from the faithful by noticing details individually and not telling anybody. If it comes up later that something happens we can alert the group after the fact and possibly catch the traitor. For instance just now when you handed paimon the knife you should've waited till after a stabby death to link the evidence. Of course i suppose throwing this out into the open now means that the traitors will also be listening in. I suppose they have also noticed it's possible to mislead us with this as well. Still i think this can give us some flawed yet somewhat workable way to find out who's a traitor or not. The truth usually comes through and the emperor will guide us to it."

Still looking nervous, Soap gestured to FMK. "What ev... Evidence will you find if the enemy is smart? Surly they would be clean frm evidence of guilt?" Soap tore the hold in his trousers slighty and give a glance at his winded leg through the gap. "How many of them are here? W... w... One? Two? More?"
Soap began rocking back and forth slightly. "Emporor help us, p...p... Please, I beg of you! Help us I...I...in our hour of n... n... Need!"
A single tear ran down his cheek.

"Stand up, soldier boy" said Walrus in his southern drawl as he extended a hand. "The Emperor helps those who help themselves. Garn kid, stand!"
He looked at the other occupants of room. "Discussing the situation is all well and good, but when you know there is at least one traitor in the room, I suggest you shut your damn mouths! Although that being said, we still haven't heard from all 8 of us."
