I usually was playing as orks in DoW 2 online. I'd like to see guard though. For some reason i don't like eldar in the computer games but love them on the tabletop. It's about all those aspect warriors. Necrons are kind of cool too. Then we got dark eldar which are pretty fun.
Today, 07:57 AM Just read an article that confirms the Imperial Guard as the new race in retribution. Some facts:
-imps are defensive once again (heroes can build several types of turrets and cover) -weak infantry, strong vehicle (baneblade returns yay; basilisk, too which will be strongest arty again; leman russ as tier 3) -first race to build vehicles in tier 1 -units include stormtrooper, HWTs (now suppress; equivalent to devestators) and catachan devils -globals include orbital bombardements and unit reinforcements
heroes are: -Inquisitor (offensive ranged; female witch hunter who can ignite single targets and has flame aoe) -Lord General (healer; can... well, heal, call all sorts of reinforcements and has a mustache now Oo) -Lord Commissar (melee supporter; can cloak and has melee specials, much like lictor alpha; regular commissars are also in)
Facts about the campaign: -story is that ten years after chaos rising the Imperium orders an exterminatus on Aurelius and you have to stop it because there is a terrible secret hidden in the sector -campaign story is very similar for every race but some details are changed every mission for each race (they wanted to make an own story for each race but ran out of time) -different enemies each time you replay the campaign (generic; doesn't affect story i guess) -imp campaign heroes are Castor, Adrastia and Merrick -playing the campaign is now much more similar to multiplayer: you have a base, you tech for new units and you have to capture requisition points. (right now a regular guards squad is 280 req and 8 pop and they repair stuff) you can choose if you spend earned xp on the known upgrades (willpower, strebgth) of your heroes or level your other units which increases their general combat performance
ALRIGHT!!! Now that's what i'm talking about! Sorry it isn't sisters melissia but that's just how it went out. Personally i don't get why the lord commissar is a stealth hero but they should exemplify his badassery. Lord general seems weird as a healer but the reinforcements and mustache could work. Personally would've preferred a psyker squad or a psyker leader like in the codex. It's still fine i guess. This is definitely exciting news. How valid is this source though?
I wonder what multiplayer abilities the 3 heroes will have.
Well we were sort of both right. There was an inquisitor in the guard army. Of course you were more right. I'm only saying sorry because i know how much you love those sisters. Not saying sorry because i'm sorry but rather because i got what i wanted and you didn't so i'm being nice about it.
ITS IMPERIAL GUARD YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
your asking how can i know that well i have steam and theres these preorder packs for wargears of each race and one is imperial guard no gay inquisition or sisters actual guard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Melissia why don't you ever post in the underhive anymore? We miss you :_(.
I didn't get the last expansion to dawn of war 2 surprisingly but according to certain videos on youtube it looked good. They even managed to make multiple characters have a meaningful end if they turned traitor. Not something easy to do with somebody like tarkus who's boring and bland as all hell.
I'll see if i can get this new expansion but i don't have the money currently as i spend most of it on GW stuff. I just need to stop buying GW stuff and buy some computer games sometimes. Of course it won't matter as right now after my previous computer died the one i'm using currently is old and can't even handle DoW 2. So i'm pretty much up nuts creek right now.
This offensive focused hero uses fire and guile to destroy the enemies of man.
Commissar Lord
The Commissar Lord is an inspiring support hero who leads from the frontlines. He excels at melee combat and empowering infantry with various buffs.
Lord General
The Lord General is a master tactician who takes defensive control of the battlefield with massive turrets and off map artillery. His personal retinue keeps him safe from harm.
Infantry:
Catatchan Devils
A squad of seasoned Catachan jungle fighters. Devils are effective in close combat and take advantage of several different types of weapons for every occasion.
Infantry Squad
Basic ranged combat unit effective against other ranged forces but weak in melee. Can be upgraded with a Sergeant and a Commissar which increases the squad size.
Heavy Weapons Squad
Equipped with a Heavy Bolter that suppresses large groups of infantry, has a limited firing arc and requires set-up time. Can be upgraded to a Lascannon or Autocannon.
Ogryn squad
Ogryns are tough ogre-like brutes who excel in close combat and are excellent at disrupting enemy ranged units. Can be upgraded with a Bone Head.
Stormtrooper Squad
Elite ranged infantry equipped with hot shot lasguns. Storm Troopers can be upgraded to fulfill different roles.
Vehicles:
Baneblade
Super heavy battle tank armed with numerous weapons. Autofire is disabled. Use its abilities to fire from the main gun.
Banewolf
A light tank that uses toxic chemical weapons designed to complete [sic] eradicate the enemy.
Chimera
Transports infantry units across the battlefield and allows nearby squads to reinforce. Loaded troops add to the Chimera's firepower.
Leman Russ Battle Tank
A multi-purpose battle tank. Can be upgraded with weapons more effective versus infantry or vehicles.
Manticore
Mobile artillery unit that fires missile barrages.
Sentinel
Fast and maneuverable vehicle that is fragile and vulnerable to small arms fire. Ideal for contributing to ranged fire fights or kiting melee units.
I remember back in winter assault when sentinels were fast, could uncap strategic points or critical points and were funny as hell to use. The manticore sounds like it's gonna kick ass. The upgrades for the leman russ sound like the different variants. Heavy weapons will be ok. The return of ogryns and kasrkin is nice but i was hoping for a psyker battle squad as well. Who knows it might be a special unit only allowed by a certain character. Banewolves sound like they'll be fun. Can't wait for the badass baneblade. Man that's gonna be fun. Commissar lord and Lord general sound like fun heroes. I only want the lord general for artillery. The commissar lord is better for the rest like buffing units. Dunno what to think of about the inquisitor. I'll have to see what he can do.
So basically i'm just excited for pretty much everything. I'll have to see everything the catachan devils can do. I remember way back in DoW 1 when myself and others thought they'd be useful as a low tier melee unit. If they can have a stealth upgrade and some explosives or traps then i'm sold on the idea of them.

When is this game released. I want to rush enemies with my massed guardsmen and smite them with the all powerful baneblade.

I'm sure most of the men in the galaxy are familiar with the sinking feeling that accompanies the words "Do you think you could do me a little favour, darling?", but when the woman asking the question is an inquisitor it's even less wise than usual to say "No".
She, actually. The Inquisitor is a female Witch Hunter Inquisitor, in a dashing black longcoat and hat.
Are you excited by this character ? Sounds like you're into her in a very lesbian way.
Yeah i'm sorry if i said he as i know it's a she. Still not interested in her. Maybe i'm just into pure guard or i prefer the other heroes or something but i just don't like her as of yet. Somehow they mentioned this was the ordo malleus which would make no sense. Just because the inquisitor is female doesn't equal a witchhunter inquisitor does it? She is dressed up for it though.
Melissia why don't you come to the underhive though? Seriously what the hell?! It lacks your hotness .

I saw it already in probably another video. At least we have the executioner. I suppose the only other ones they'd use are the vanquisher or the punisher. You can also call down walls (buildable by your men i think) and bunkers. As it says sentinels are tier 1 but i think it's only because guard infantry are so weak.
As a side note, Legoburner from Dakka described how the Hive Lord moves from world to world:
One other thing, someone mentioned in the other thread wondering how the hive lord gains upgrades and how it moves around the different planets in the system - it renders itself into a digesting pool and is reborn on other worlds with upgrades. You see it go to the pool at least once too.
