Nice colour. Welcome to the Purple Alliance (just as I was leaving.. ). Wow the spray really helps. All you need now are the Druchi Violet shade, the Genestealer Purple drybrush and the details. Will the wings be pixie/ insectoid white or something? The Death Jester checkers look amazing.

update: highlight applied to all infantry and the 3 hornets / warp hunters (I'm using 3 razorwing jetfighters on modified bases as proxies) my struggle is now choosing the next colours, I've picked out some nice green, blue and orange tones which work great against the purple; I just don't know where to start! (I'm also planning for white and black in places). I must be brave and commit! (and not build the oh so tempting forgeworld thingy as a procrastination)

You may have mentioned this, but what do you use to make the jump packs? They look like Helion boards a bit.

I believe they are parts of the dark eldar jet bikes.
I pretty much exhausted the UK's ebay listing of them over the past few years - this project seems to have been going on forever!
they work much better on the dire avenger figures, all the dark eldar are leaning forward and this takes some of the drama out of the wings until you get your eye down to table level.
that said I love the dynamic look of the dark eldar (wyches I believe) and should make effort to pose them gracefully landing or taking off from a variety of objects.
not in the picture but I've added coins to all the bases to make them more stable - all those spikes made them get entangled really easy and often create a magnetic domino effect where I would end up knocking 4 or 5 models over, seems to have helped.

Cruses. There goes my hope for some third party jump packs. I guess Plan B is always scourges.

So 8th Ed has happened, it seems to have left the Corsairs in an interesting postion, essentially the entire army I have built is no longer represented in the rules.
I will be re-working the Corsairs codex to bring into line with 8th as I'm not rebuilding and proxying my models!
Why couldn't they just keep the same rules, give them a power level, take away templates, and generally just leave their army structure and wargear options alone?

Or you could just stick to 7th like all the sensible insane crazy blind evil people do. We have jam doughnuts filled with peanut butter and pieces of Claw Fiend.
Very colourful; yeah sod losing models; I'll obviously have to slap the gauntlet in your face with my Fallen Angels who are strictly built for 7th (armed with bolters, boltpistols and ccw like CSM or some Grey Hunters).

Well, If you're game to play 7th then that resolves a lot of the issues!
The Corsairs do have a few units which are rediculously OP - such as the hornet with 2 pulsars, the warp hunter, and the balestrike bands are dangerously close to being OP, however the balestrike bands are infantry so are the ultimate glass hammer.
The Corsairs also rely heavily on terrain, they want city fights with lots of LOS blocking stuff so they can use thier jet-packs to fire and hide each turn. Put the Corsairs in open wasteland tundra and they'd be dead in a turn!
I'm going tot try and get the rest of them painted over the next couple of weeks - also bought a compressor so I can do proper eldar paintwork on the jet-fighter.

Flyers are probably the bane of my army - but I have 4 SM flyers to paint and a few anti air vehicles. Hopefully the camo scheme will work on the flyers.
Lots of terrain is the best way to play. Except for drop pods.

so the 4th squad is nearly done.
I've added a murky wash to the infantry so as to dull down their colours - I think it works, though will have to see what the camera does.
I've been resisting the airbrush and saving it for the next project (much as I'd love to airbrush the aircraft - I think it would break the unity created by the paint scheme so far).

Just noticed I've been working on this project for 6 years!
I feel they look more like a tropical fruit lolly rather than the blackcurrant flavour they've sported for the past few years.
I intend to return to them and add black diamond patterning at some point in the far distamt future, however, I have the heavy weapons to do and then I'm starting the next project.

Nice! It's a colorful bunch, but that works really well for eldar in my opinion.

The jet that's white,Blue and Purple looks fantastic, the colour change from white to blue is pleasing to the eye!
Very well done sir.

lol; that one was being painted to have ice coloured flames, then it went wrong and couldn't be repaired without a massive repainting mission, so I thought "Feth That" and grabbed the biggest brush I had and went for a bigger bolder design which took about 10 minutes to complete!
glad you liked it.
am thinking the purple one with green swirls could have a similar repaint. I'm also noticing the original one (while it does kinda highlight the skull in the design) isn't as pleasing to the eye either... not sure if it'll get re-worked or not, it may just need something added rather than a total overhaul.
working with the jets is great: I've been itching to do them for years and put the infantry at the front of the queue so I would have a reward for getting them done.
They're beautiful jets. I want a real one.
