Heya IGMB'ers. I was looking at everyone else's sweet posts and pictures of all the stuff they're working on and felt left out, so I spent quite some time rifling through all my stuff to find my whole army and put it altogether. This is actually the first time I've had it all laid out at once. I may have done it when I first started playing them, I can't remember, as it was about 15 years ago. In any case, here's my joy (my pride, I lost someplace)! Units present from top to bottom, left to right: First row - Earthshaker on fixed platform, 5 x Leman Russes, Vendetta First and a half row - Vanquisher turret on fixed emplacement, 5 x very whacky conversion rough-riders I attempted to make in high school Second row - Hellhound, Exterminator, Conqueror, Executioner, 2 x Basilisks, Hydra Second and a half row - Mortar team, The Last Chancers (unpainted), 6 x Ogryns, 12 x Ratlings, 2 x Squads of 9 Storm Troopers Third row - Chimera, Heavy Bolter team, 9 x squads of infantry with a special and heavy weapon in each. Also some commissars hanging out with the grunts. Fourth row - Chimera w/ twin-linked heavy bolter turret, PCS, 5 x infantry squads with more commissars and some priests, Commissar Yarrick, a Lascannon team, a sniper, and some assassins because they are awesome even though I can't really use them anymore. Fifth row - Chimera, 2 x PCS, CCS, another PCS The larger line of infantry are Steel Legion that I used for Death Korps models before Forge World existed. The squads in front are old metal Cadian models and all my heavy weapons are either one or the other. I haven't purchased any new infantry in some time, as I've been eyeing the Krieg models on FW's site enviously. I also really shouldn't buy more until the ones I have are painted!

This is my command squad, including vintage Macharius and Schaeffer models. I use Schaeffer as a Company Commander, as he's just a sweet looking model. I generally bring the Creed model out as an Officer of the Fleet.

This is my Vendetta with the upgrade kit from FW. The shark jaws ended up OK, though I would do them differently on my other Vendetta which still needs to be assembled.

A couple shots of my Steel Legion and Cadian models, respectively. I didn't really think I had this many infantry squads, but now that I know I might field more during my next Apocalypse match!

Old style Ogryns. Way better than the new ones, IMO.

I don't know what I was trying to accomplish with these guys, though I was proud of myself for modifying a bunch of metal Steel Legion models with trenchcoats to fit on horse-back. The other stuff on there is just weird. The horse in front does indeed have a Space Marine jump pack mounted to its hindquarters as well as a pair of forward facing lasguns. And a headspike. OK, so maybe these rough riders are a touch too heretical to be pictured again.

Makes perfect sense to me. Its obvious that he just needs to propel himself closer to the enemy at a faster rate. Anyways, great looking army. Do you plan on finishing it?

Oh yes indeed. I've just put it off for so long because most of the people around here frankly don't care much about what their armies look like and don't seem interested if someone shows up with a snazzily painted one. Since I went through the trouble of starting a thread about it, I might as well start working through them and posting updates. A lot of work ahead of me, but it should be fund once I get into it.

Well Deathkorpsman, quite an army you have, I like it. all the best with the paint jobs, a lot of work for you to do. but if painting is part of your hobby, well opportunities are there! Are you planning a coherent color pattern ore is it more a regiment composite from the most hardened squads and platoons from different planets? I like the horde of Steel Legion models and especially the one on the horse with the jump pack....... LOL. I really like to see that one painted

Definitely a coherent color scheme of Grey, though I intend to figure out some camo scheme as I go along. Once I find one I like that is simple to reproduce en masse I'll implement it. I'm thinking small square cut-outs in a piece of card in random patterns that I can just use as a stencil and spraypaint onto the tank hulls to represent digi-cam. The regular foot-sloggers are going to be grey though, because I like the feel of a drab, uniform, rolling horde toting mega-flashlights of doom.

So I've started in on painting and repainting my army. Friends suggested I go with vehicles first since they have the biggest individual presence on the battlefield. Took a few hours over the course of two nights to finish my first Chimera, but it is now one of the best painted units I have (My Vendetta being the other). Thanks again to Cosmic for the advice/how-to on doing glass. I probably would have just done the windows in blue otherwise. They aren't the greatest even now, but still decent. I did the entire model by hand. Codex Grey is the base color. I used Chaos Black, Skull White, and Scab Red to do most of the camo, with little squares of Catachan Green. The weapon ends are all Blood Red, don't bug me about how much they stick out. Having vividly colored weapons appeals to me for some reason. Mud splash along the bottom is Snakebite Leather dry brushed over Devlan Mud. C&C always welcome. Not sure I'll stick with the camo scheme because it was a pain to paint. I'll reevaluate it in a few days and see if I like it enough to continue.

Well.....it's different! The camo isn't my personal choice but that's up to you Painting wise it's pretty good, all the details painted and a complex pattern that you should be very proud of. For improvements......washes! (see my sig). They are your friend and they would really make it 'pop' as many people on here like to say The weathering is ok, but there are many better ways of doing this. By yourself some cheap Artists pastels, scrape some dust off, and brush it all over the tracks and bottom of the hull Cosmic

Are you planning to play with the DKoK army list? If so, we can't use Chimera's... if you are just playing from the standard IG codex then disregard this I would have to agree with Cosmic. Washes are amazing and pastel powder makes for amazing weathering powder. Much cheaper than FW weather powder and other pigments.

By yourself some cheap Artists pastels, scrape some dust off, and brush it all over the tracks and bottom of the hull Cosmic I'll try the pastels thing out when I have a chance to run by someplace that sells them. We'll see how that works. The washes thing I'll have to think about, because I've seen other models painted with washes and they just don't appeal to me. I'll have to look at some more ways of doing it and better mixes before I try one on a model that I really don't want to have to repaint! As for the color scheme, it occurred to me afterwards that a little voice was inspiring me to paint it up so it would easily blend in as a GK transport. I have a bit of GK stuff, enough to make an inquisitor-heavy list along with some GK squads, and the color scheme of Grey with burgundy highlights really fits the Inquisition. Glad I decided to do it! Are you planning to play with the DKoK army list? Washes are amazing and pastel powder makes for amazing weathering powder. Much cheaper than FW weather powder and other pigments. I'm not going to use the actual siege list, as I don't have any good models to stand in for the better parts of the list i.e. artillery. Not to mention actually getting some of the infantry which I would love to start picking up. The other parts of that army list are neat (stubborn, WS4, etc.) and the ability to sneak some solid melee capability in is cool. Otherwise lots of the units are really horrifically expensive in points. Death Riders especially are crazy expensive. Still, neat concept all around and harkens back to the days of doctrines. Next model on the painting block is probably going to be a Russ. We'll see how that goes. Might even try my hand at putting a name on there. If anyone has some good ideas about how to put on names (other than using a pencil, I do that now) it would be much appreciated.

The figures are awesome, very fun to assemble and paint. Their detail is pretty awesome. The list is quite expensive points wise. I'm not in the game to win though, just have a darn good time How is the painting coming along?
