“I too would like to take more time. Trying to vote someone will give the cultist an easy way to get a loyalist hung if he isn’t the target. But we can’t dely. Soap I think that it is all too convenient that we’ve found ourselves with both a lawman and a soldier and I know that the lawman was true. I’m not certain it’s you but the way you wanted to jump on F.K.M and myself made me think that you were the leftover cultist. The Emperor will forgive me if I’m wrong but for now I’m voting for you. ”
I VOTE FOR SOAP.

"Chaos has already won". Soap paused for a second to make sure everyone was listening. "Well, when I say won, what I mean is Chaos is closing in on us".
"Look around at the man next to you. What trust do you have for him? None! And why? Because you fear for you life. You dont know if the man next to you is a Cultist, and every time you speak you get accused".
"You find trust in someone, and then low and behold, your a target now". Soap's voice was raised, anger and passion filled the room.
"What am I guilty of emptiehat? Airing my trust in Walrus? I believe he is innocent, so that makes me guilty? Well maybe your the guilty party here! Yes it makes sence now. Take the heat off yourself, only to be a damned cultist yourself!!".
With that, Soap raised his las rifle. "My vote is in... Emptiehat, I believe your the cultist".

FKM seems a bit confused at this.
"Soap is probably chaos. He seems a little naive. However i think it is walrus that is most likely chaos here. Then again i haven't heard much from wraelis either. The day is getting late and we're running out of time to waste with indecision."

“I’m not surprised you’d vote for me in exchange but your little speech is making me feel a lot better about picking you. You seem panicked, over emotional. Do you not have a better defence? Tell me what you did last night? Or should I set my imagination to it?”

FKM stands up.
"I think i'll vote for walrus. I might change my vote somewhat but there's something not right about him. He has too much to gain from dave's death. I just can't shake that feeling."
FKM goes on.
"I still have yet to hear wraelis's story though and he's been far too quiet with all of this going on."

"I think something about Walrus' story rings true. I think he might have been Dave's friend and he sided against Rook. It isn't definitive but the other cultist could have gained a lot by sitting on the sidelines and adding their vote when either side reached three votes. That way they could get rid of a loyal man, look innocent, or if the voting failed waste a day."

"Ha, you want my story of innocence then? Or maybe just something damning I can say of one of the others?" Wraelis says, sitting up. His voice was a low growl. "My story is what I've given you so far. I am a hired gun. I've done the occasional hit and bounty hunting job, I've worked protection, even did a job for an inquisitor once. I've bided my time for awhile here, observing all of you and trying to figure things out. I hate to say it, but I don't think I trust soap either. He could've been chaos who looted the dead for a uniform and tags. For all we know, the man that caused that wound on his leg was the one he killed to get his uniform. Emperor forgive me if I'm wrong."
Wraelis unfastens his trench coat, and leans against the back wall, partially in the shadows. "I've given you my story. Where was I last night you might wonder? In my hab, back against the wall with my lasgun pointed at the poor all night long."

empty raises an eybrow as he listens to Wraelris’ story.
“You did a job for the inquisition? I’m impressed. I’m surprised you didn’t mention it before when people were saying they wouldn’t trust a merc. I’m not sure I can trust you but I agree with you about Soap. I guess a mercenary and a merchant make a more likely partnership anyway.”
“Still I’d like to give Soap one more chance to explain himself before I start calling for all of you to back me up. We can always choose to lynch him at sundown, if the priest will allow it?”

"I may have been a grunt for the inquisition, one of the guys they called in when they needed a frontal assault, all guns blazing, but I did learn a bit of patience from them and waiting for the right moment"
"I'd rather not kill an innocent, so let's hear what soap's got to say"

FKM looks at soap.
"I should like to hear your story a little more before i make my decision. I'd also like to hear what walrus has to say. I know wraelis could be a good guy but he's also been in the inquisition's employ and may have become tainted fighting against chaos. Maybe it's just a convenient little ploy. You did say soap could've stolen an identity. You're a mercenary. How easy would it be to change your story on the spot? I don't know much about walrus though. What has walrus done? Who is walrus? I somehow find myself trusting emptyhat but i don't know why. Then again i used to trust wraelis more too. I suppose it's hard to know who to trust here."
FKM looks confused and tired.
"I suppose soap could have been dirty but so can a lot of you be dirty. Is it possible wraelis is only saying he worked with the inquisition now because a daemonhost was killed? If wraelis is truly who he says he is wouldn't that mean he would've killed us all by now to eliminate the threat of taint? Wouldn't the inquisition already be aware of what's happening? I'm unsure of whether to believe this story. Maybe he isn't with the inquisition but what do we know of the inquisition? Would they just allow him to return to his life like that? He also killed men for money when he carried out hits and did bounty hunting. That doesn't seem like a man that'd care about killing an innocent to me."
FKM looks a bit tired.
"I think it's walrus or wraelis. Who can tell who it really is? I don't know what to do."
FKM speaks more clearly.
"Soap. What's your story? I don't know if it's convincing enough until you tell us what it is you were so scared to talk about what you saw out there."

"I'm not with the inquisition. I've been used by them before and am sometimes drafted into their services. It's not something that I'm really steady with, more of I'm a grunt they've relied on before to get the job done. They pay nice too, that helps. As far as killing innocents go, I choose my jobs carefully."

The priest slammed shut his pray book and took the podium.
"My friends you are acting like an uncivilized rabble. You have already wasted half the day and cannot seem to grasp the situation at hand, so far I have a single vote for Walrus, Empty and Soap. I need three votes to condemn a guilty soul either change your minds or make a decision."

Soaps head dropped. The red of anger ran away from his face, and it returned to its plain complexion.
"What more can I say? My squad was on patrol when chaos struck. My injury was from friendly fire, when my sgt shot a cultist that made to attack me - thought the damn thing was dead already it was full of so many holes!".
Soap lowered the las rifle to his side. "I haven't had more than a few hours sleep thanks to the nightmares of the things iv seen". Looking at emptiehat, soap said "you asked about last night. I was here in that side room. I tried to sleep. But, maybe a got an hour or two, I don't know, the things iv seen wont leave my mind!".
The las rifle fell to the floor as soap lost his grip. "Maybe death is the answer. In my short life iv seen things that will never leave me, maybe death is the answer".
A single tear ran down his face. His eyes red from emotion and lack of sleep.
"Take my life. I will not fight. I will beg for the emperor to forgive you all when I am by his side".
Soap raised his arms out to his sides in surrender.
"Please make the nightmares stop."

"The Emperor will forgive me if I'm wrong but he will not forgive us if we fail. It is a harsh move but it is a harsh time and we must do something, I ask the rest of you to consider what I have said. Will you vote with me? I must admit that I'm not certain, if anyone can make a strong case for one of the others, I could be persuaded from this path but it would have to be convincing."

"will the emperor forgive when you kill one that fights in his name?"
Soap approached the priest, and dropped to his knees. "Emptiehat, after the last words you say I believe you are not one of them, so with that I retract my vote, and wil stand by the god-emperor with a clear conscience".
Another tear rolled down his face. "I cannot vote for another, they is little evidence typo say who the enemy inside is. Yet if I vote with everyone else and we are wrong, I'm sure I will be held to blame for being indecisive and 'going with the flow'. Walrus, the only one here I trust, you will have to watch your own back now. Good luck."
Soap clasps his hands together and closes his eyes. "Emperor, please guide my soul.... "

"Priest, shut your hypocritical mouth. Calling us uncivilised while forcing us to vote on a lynch mob is directly opposite to your statement.".
Walrus looked as his accusers. "I see," he muttered, "but you do not." He reached into a pocket, brought out an identity card, and presented it to the group. "I am an imperial agent. I am the upholder of His law. I am an Arbite! Withdraw your accusations, they are targeted toward the wrong area. Soap, stop that. You need not give your life needlessly."
"I believe it is either Empty or FKM. It is hard to judge, so I shall let the Him decide." Walrus pulled out a coin. One side embossed with the Aquila, the other His visage. "Heads, empty. Tails, FKM."
Walrus flicked the coin into the air. It spun faster than the eye could follow, arcing up, then down again into Walrus' waiting hand. He looked at the coin. "In the Emperor's name, I vote for FKM!"

FKM speaks a bit indignantly.
"That's funny. I vote against you and you decide to vote against me. I bet that's a weighted coin too. As if that wasn't enough you insult a priest. Emptyhat i know you want to go against soap but walrus wanted us both to die and soap wanted you to die. I think we should go for one each day. Not only that but walrus pulls an arbite card out of the usual place when doubt is raised about his loyalty. I find it a little convenient we had at least 2 arbites around. Only 8 people composed our group and somebody else claims to be an arbite after insulting the priest no less. Yes i should think dave's death served you and your chaos motives well. Everybody goes against you day 1 so you bud up with the other least popular person only to kill him during the night and falsely proving an innocence you do not have. We can't ask dave and you if you actually knew each other because we'd only get your response as well and you can make that as convenient for you as you'd like without any resistance from dave. You also wait to throw out your story when everybody's giving their's to watch what we do and see if you can get the most out of us while sharing the least about yourself and then just conveniently throw out your story to make things easier for you. Yes i see who it is. You must be chaos."
FKM stands up.
"I vote for walrus. He's a traitor."

“This is very confusing. If I’m any judge of the flow of events there should only be one traitor but just as I am ready to hang Soap because we have too many Imperial enforcers in the room Walrus pulls out an identity card of an Arbites. Walrus if you wanted me to think that Soap was innocent and that you were guilty you could not have picked a better time for this. It makes no sense. Should I believe that you are both guilty and side with F.K.M. Or is he really the lone cultist trying to get us to pick off two Imperials?”
For the first time empty seems to lose his composure and his temper.
"Walrus I demand to know why you have muddied the waters now!"

"My my," Walrus chuckled. "Is that fear I see in your eyes? Surely not, as no true servant of the Emperor has reason to be afraid." Walrus' smile lost its warmth. "Especially in the presence of His enforcers. I commuted no heresy by 'insulting' His priest, I simply accused him of hypocrisy. There is a difference.
You sully my friends name with your voice, fiend. You dare accuse me of orchestrating the death of the only surviving member of my unit? I have full imperial credentials, and a lifetime serving Him fully. What do you have, scum? A ship that arrived, coincidentally apparently, at the same time this mess started?! After you admitted breaking His law?! You overstep your bounds..."
"And should your lies bend the faithful of this room from the true path, I fear nothing. All it means is I will be at His side when he banishes your black soul to the Warp!"

"My apologies, empty. I concealed my presence until now, for want of not making a target of myself. At this rate, there will be no resolution, and I will be at the Emperors feet by sunrise. There are no muddied waters, only His truth, and a piece of scum trying to ruin it."

FKM talks more angrily.
"I do not fear but rather i am angry at what you have done. It's my take you don't consider a priest a hypocrite or any loyal citizen wouldn't. As i said anything you say is very convenient being that soap is now dead. If i am the 'lone' cultist then why would i get blame pointed towards myself where before there was none. Considering all the trust i had before why would i squander that away. I am merely trying to find out who is chaos and who is not."
FKM laughs.
"Your proof huh. And how do i know you didn't just steal it from soap's corpse when you probably killed him? Now that you're the only supposed arbite i find it interesting there's nobody to verify your claims. I find it a little convenient the last 8 members of aspecious would have so many armed citizens and soldiers and not many market men, cargo ship employees or other types of workers and civilians."

"Maybe you've never had a home, or maybe you sacrificed it to your blasphemous masters, but you should know if your home is attacked, every able bodied person rises to defend it. As to taking my friends identity, that's MY identity with MY name and MY face. It would also be rather hard to take it seeing as when we were in our way back from investigating Rook's unnatural abode he was snatched from the shadows. The last I ever saw if him was his look of stubborn, Daveish determination to die as heroically as possible. The last I heard of him was his cries of anger and pain vanishing into the night. I chased after him, but I had no chance. I am proud to say he died with the Emperors name on his probably bloody lips.
Also, isn't it coincidental that the same behavioural pattern of a cultist shows itself in FKM? When faced with direct opposition, the Scum immediately decried Dave as the traitor. Lo and behold, FKM pulls the same thing.
As for roulette, I love it. The pure, random version, not this. If you DID side with FKM, you would be siding against a member of the PDF, with identification, and one of His Arbites, also with identification."
Walrus sat down on a bench. "If you don't mind, I have an urge to give thanks to Him. Excuse me for a minute or two." Walrus pulled an Aquila from around his neck, kissed it lightly, and began to murmur a catechism of judgement.

He could've had us take soap! No, I believe you Walrus. Oddly enough, you and soap are the only people I fully trust here now and I apologize for earlier accusations to both of you."
