And now I want Elysian/ Harkani Warhawks! >.< *Wonders of to Mantic Games* I have to say that I'm really taken by this Venator and I too now want an Elysian army!! 3ff3ct: Haha! I was confused when I first saw he didn't have legs, but it all makes sense now! And thank you. I'm about 95% done now, just the Gunner and some headlights to do! Not bad for 2 days work

Amazing work as always cosmic. I love how the blue armour breaks up the beige.

Nice and gritty. Are you doing the lenses in blue or a contrast colour?

Thank you very much everyone glad you all like it. I'm sure Teku does! Next up, the Tauros! When the spare parts arrive at least! 3ff3ct: Well Teku has painted his yellow so we'll see how that goes. I prefer to keep my lenses black/grey to show them switched off but I'll see what Teku wants.

Hot damn, that is awesome looking! ;D
Hairspray method: I haven't seen a description of it in a while. You put salt over the base coat where you want chipping, spray the model with hairspray, then apply the layer color, and when it's dry scrub the model with a toothbrush to knock off the salt, yes?

Mmm sort of, that's the salt masking method but yes it uses Hairspray. The proper Hairspray method is to apply an undercoat that you want to be the colour of the chips, in this case it was Burnt Umber (Dark Brown for those that don't know) You then seal it with a coat of Matt Varnish. Once that is completely dry you then spray a layer of Hairspray. Once that is dry you spray your basecoat, in this case the Beige. Hairspray is soluble with Hot water, so once your basecoat is touch-dry you dampen an old toothbrush with the hot water, and then just attack the paint! The hot water will soak though and remove the hairspray, thus removing the basecoat, and creating your chips

Coming into this whole commission thing I knew you were going to be doing something amazing with these. However I don't think amazing does any of these justice. BTW paint the lights however you want lol. I will be ordering a matching set from you down the road. The two i currently have might be test models for paint purposes.
Again thank you so much for taking these on.

Hey Cosmic what kind of matte varnish do you use? I want to pick up a decent kind for my next upcoming project.

Cheers Up krieg: I use Vallejo. I have both the spray and the dropper bottles. The matte spray used to work very well but for some reason it's started to turn glossy, so it's really temperamental. The normal varnish from the dropper bottles are amazing though I bought them from Creative Models.

Triple post of terrific terror!! I've started the Tauros despite not having the right parts. I emailed FW to see about replacementsfor the rear suspension but after looking at their Facebook page, it appears that other people have waited 2 1/2 weeks for replacement parts and still haven't recieved any. So it's safe to say that FW are currently swamped. So I decided to convert the spare set of front suspension parts into a rear set. It wasn't too hard, just moved some pipes and sanded the wheel hubs. This won't really show under the vehicle and it blends in nicely anyway. So expect more painting soon! Cosmic

Looking great Cosmic! Can't wait to see the Tauros with some paint on it.
But on a serious note, am I the only one who thinks the Tauros looks a lot like Warthog from Halo?

Wouldn't surprise me if they are in fact designed off of that model.

I'm not painting any infantry, just the 2 vehicles for Teku. His infantry can be seen in his picture thread, but thank you Work has begun on the Tauros, with any luck I can get it 80% complete by tomorrow night. Cosmic

Speaking of infantry, you haven't updated your thread in a while.....we want to see how you got on with the eyes! The chipping has been done on the top of the Tauros.... I'm happy with how it's turned out so I'm calling it a night. My Airbrush is having a well deserved overnight bath in nail varnish remover, ready for tomorrow Cosmic
