I wanted to revisit this thread now that I have actually played some games with the MoO, as I now feel I can qualify my initial mathhammer.
In six games he took out a Necron Command Barge, a Sisters of Battle Exorcist, 3x Leman Russes, 2x Chimeras and a dozen infantry (mainly from scatters). With LoS and Bring it Down the MoO was absolutely brutal at killing tanks - he was taking off hull points and blowing things up like nobody’s business. He did have the occasional wild scatter, but for 30 points this guy is seriously good.
I feel the need to qualify that I am only vouching for the MoO as an armour hunter. The large hull of vehicles, rerolling scatter from Bring it Down, subtracting BS4 from the scatter when within LoS and the whole template hitting at full strength makes it surprisingly easy to get hits. When considering it always hits side armour, ignores cover and picks the higher of two dice for penetration, it is made for popping tanks. Whilst not a terrible weapon to fire on infantry (especially when lots of targets are bunched within a 1-5-2 foot radius), I would only do this if there are no vehicles around or the situation is particularly dire.
In short, I highly recommend giving the MoO a whirl. I recommend running it with a Lascannon as it has good synergy in terms of intended targets.

hmm, this sounds like it could be a lot of fun! I've never played him before, but had always considered putting him into an infantry list. Thanks for the info majorspeirs! Can't wait to try mine out on the table

It says he can't shoot if he moved in the previous movement phase, so can he shoot out of a chimera that stood still (not that this would be good)? Just wondering because I want to use a CCS and want to take MoO and was thinking of puting them in a chimera but with the movement rule I guess that doesn't work. Does everyone who uses him have their CCS in a ruin or behind an aegis or something?

it used to work really well in 5th when transports were still small bunkers. nowadays with hullpoints they're a bit less usefull as bunkers. still worth it though. if your master of ordance just kills two marines he's made back his points...

Still...I wonder if he can use it from inside a chimera as one of the 5 shoooting out the hatch?

why wouldn't he? as far as i'm aware there's nothing that prevents him from doing that, provided that the chimera didn't move
