so, BoLS has a number of interesting rumors floating around, especially for us guard folk.
Veterans / Stormtroopers box
Apocalypse units
also, The removal of Finecast and possibly re-creation of some sculpts.
plus:
Tyranids may be the next Codex...
Orks may be 2014...
oh.. and the inquisition book came out too.. will it come out in paper?
I'm interested to hear your thoughts and speculations!

I knew that there would be orks in there somewhere otherwise it just wouldn't be you treads. Got to say I'm happy to see the end of fine cast never had a good cast

Yup, I had reported on the supposed upcoming demise of Finecast in the General 40K forum earlier in the week: commissar.proboards.com/thread/17857/finecast-away-rejoiceI'm amped at the thought of new plastics to replace the various Finecast non-character things (Aspect Warriors), and I'm interested to see if we're finally going to get the missing artillery and A.A. vehicles for the Guard.

I've been hearing a lot of speculation about Nids as early as December. Talk of some kind of problems with the Desolation of Smaug rollout pushing them up. A picture of a new Hive Guard/Tyrant Guard box has leaked, so they're definitely in the pipeline.

I'm looking forward to seeing the Apoc: Warzone Pandorax (doesn't seem to be in ebook form yet, oddly), as it apparently has junglefighting rules and Catachan fluff in it. Might be a call-forward to the rumored Catachan supplement to the next IG Codex.

I just bought a couple of nid kits to use for a diorama having never fancied them as an army, a December release may change that lol.

This is very interesting-seeming. Don't know if it's a sneak-peak of a new model to be released with the new IG codex, or a conversion someone did, but it looks nice: Stormtrooper Sergeant with powerfist.

^ Thats a heavily converted finecast kasrkin sgt. I didn't even know they were finecast nowadays...
The plastic stormtroopers are already boxed apparently, just waiting for the IG codex to be released. They may have shotguns, bolters and hotshot lasguns on the frame. Unfortunately I read that so long ago that I've forgotten which rumour site it was posted on.

Ah good to know. I thought I spotted some FW Cadian upgrade parts on the mini. Really sweet job.
I've seen the same rumors about the plastic Stormies/Kasrkin... Pretty sure it was on BoLS somewhere. I'll be interested to see what we're getting... Wonder if we might be getting any other surprises in addition to the rumored missing artillery vehicles?

Was talking to a guy in GW and he said he had heard that Jungle Fighters would be taking a back step, and it was posable that something like Steal Legion or Vanhallens could be the next guard regiment. Of course he doesn't know 100% but I was pleased with what he said.

As Catachan player, I find that statement distressing.
Also, I would rather not see these plastic stormtroopers. I would rather see Trooper 1974's Catachan stormtroopers boxed and shipped instead.

I think its cheaper to buy a 3d printer (home) for £1000 and print your own minis lol lets see an army of mirandas from mass effect maybe

Yeah I'm hoping that if catachan's don't get much love in the new codex that we will at least get our own supplement.

I think it was more of the miniature range going online retail rather than taking up shop space. I am sure they will still give them some love in the Dex.

I noticed that with recent price rises its almost just as affordable now to get metal tallarns and mordians direct rather than bog standard cadians.

Post by cheminhaler on Dec 3, 2013 14:55:03 GMT -5
No. Tallarns are £5 more, but you're right about Mordians, Valhallans and Steel Legion, which are now £20.50 for a box of 10. 10 Tallarns = £25.50 , presumably they sell more... Now that you mention it I swear they lowered the price of the Last Chancer set after that ridiculous jack-up they did on it a few years ago.

I think id rather pay the extra £5 for tallarn than buy plastic cadians. + they resculpted the tallarn at some stage as they are different to the old sets I used to buy off the shop shelves many years ago lol

They didn't do a full resculpt as I recall, but they added more poses to all the Metal IG lines at some point in 3rd ed. I suspect those newer sculpts are the ones they still have lying around.

|
|
Post by dougeye on Dec 4, 2013 2:48:16 GMT -5
yeah it was the new poses they did, when I used to buy metal IG you used to get 10 troops and a heavy weapons crew in the same box I think. since then they changed some poses.

|
|
Post by cheminhaler on Dec 6, 2013 14:35:52 GMT -5
I remember the new poses; e.g. the Mordian autocannon team with the gunner with the bandaged head, but as I recall back in the day they were all the same price. Now Tallarn players have to pay a new £5/ 10 men tax, which I shall label the Taros Tax.

Prices are out of control for GW stuff now. Have you seen how much a baneblade costs now??
|
|
|
Post by Adkenpachi on Dec 7, 2013 5:08:48 GMT -5
Ouch £72.25
|
|
|
Post by treadiculous on Dec 7, 2013 8:15:55 GMT -5
don't mean to be rude guys but I don't think the Baneblade is the best example - it has gone up but the shadowsword was £70 beforehand anyway and doesn't the baneblade box now include the option for the shadowsword / stormlord now?
What surprised me is the price of the metal deffkoptas (sinc I am selling some I thought I'd check the GW site to see what they go for).. 20 quid!!!... these used to be about£12 or possible £15 but now that they are up at that price its totally insane! - you can get a couple small units worth at most a few hundred points which aren't even particularly strong on the table ad it'll cost you almost as much as a 1500 point army.
along with single HQ miniatures coming out at around £20 it seems they are really losing the plot!
so it seems the next big thing is... price increases!
any guesses what will be the next codex?
anyways...
