I've spent the last month and a half working on this project (among others). I got the pattern from a papercraft site and used plasticard and various GW and other bits to come up with this scratch built Marauder Destroyer. I will be working on the paint job next. Paint will be along the lines of the Vendetta in the photos. This should be true to FW scale. The FW write up for their model says it has an 18 in wing span as does this one. Kinda dwarfs the 'detta and Stormlord P1020301 by Doug Crabb, on Flickr It will look even better when painted P1020300 by Doug Crabb, on Flickr Here's a shot of the bottom. I used a 25mm glued to a 40mm square base as the stand holder and rhino doors for the bomb bay doors. P1020299 by Doug Crabb, on Flickr From above. The paint scheme will have a red tail, grey unit ID stripe and black everywhere else. I am thinking of doing the shark teeth on the front or maybe dragon mouth/teeth for the six autocannons in the nose. i was already wondering if we would see any progress on this! and i love what i see! instead of the shark teeth, how about doing a pin-up painting on it like many WWII bomber crews did?

Yeah, shark teeth are more for fighters not bombers. I am thinking more along the lines of some kind of fire breathing dragon head and giving it the name of "Dragon Wagon"

I got the black base coat on but have been working on a couple of (heresy) Chaos projects, i.e. two heldrakes, one of which is heavily modified.

I feel like it needs more autocannons.

Alright, I'm tired of waiting for you to paint this. I am kit bashing my own! Anyone per chance know where I can find approximate measurements of this kit bash?

Since the ever faithful IGMB community is feeling so helpful, can any one think of a non-GW, non-FW model that would make an excellent proxy? Need some kit in approximately the same scale for "Donor" parts, on the Marauder after this Marauder... or maybe the one after that!
I am just in the mood to mix non-GW plastic into my army. Guess who's starting an Imperial Navy collection?

I know it may not be exactly what you want but I bought a knock-off China forge / fakeworld marauder from AliExpress a couple of years ago. They still come up every now and then but you have to visit every day if you want to catch them before they disappear.
I still haven’t made mine yet but it looks like it’s good enough quality wise and I made my Thunderbolts, Baracudas and Tigershark and they turned out well.
If you really want a mix of GW / nonGW ... Avro Lancaster. Valkyrie crews, Storm Talon engines at the wing root, actual or proxy weapons from any Guard kit.

Avro Lancaster.... Thaaaaat's on the money. Yeah, I could use some parts from that match it with scratch built goodness. Yeah! Now if I could just find some naval personel to join my new Imperial Navy army.
