What do y'all think of this?
HQ XV8 Commander - w/ Iridium Armour, Puretide Engram Chip, Command and Control Node, Multi-Spectrum Sensor Suite
ELITES XV8 Crisis Squad - 1x Missile Pod, 1x Twin-Linked Missile Pod
TROOPS Firewarrior Squad - 6x FW, Shas'ui w/ Markerlight Firewarrior Squad - 6x FW, Shas'ui, w/ Markerlight
HEAVY SUPPORT XV88 Broadsides Squad - 2x Battlesuits
500 Points 16 Models
Essentially a "Deathstar-mini" list. The Commander joins the Broadside Squad, and he sits out in front and absorbs fire with T5, 2+, and W4 while granting the Broadsides Ignores Cover, Re-Rolls to hit, and either Monster-Hunter or Tank-Hunter (depending on target). The XV8 uses harassment tactics and takes aim at light armour. The Firewarriors sit on objectives and ping markerlights on choice targets.
What do y'all think as a beginning to a Tau list? Obvious expansions would be a full XV8 Squad and a Riptide, plus some Kroot for a more mobile Troop Choice (with potential Positional Relay).

Well, firstly the Command and Control Node and Multi-Spectrum Sensor Suite don't stack, you will have to make a choice about whether to have rerolls or ignores cover, and broadsides have twin linked weapons, and the firewarriors could provide the cover support. If you cut these upgrades, and dropped the marker lights from the firewarriors however, you could take a pathfinder squad with 5 guys, including either an ion rifle (my choice because these things are epic) or a shas'ui depending on how you intend to play the unit. This way you don't really lose the benefits you were granting the broadsides with your commander, you have more markerlight support, and you have 5 more guys on the battlefeild. -Empirespy

They are alowed to both be used at the same time. However empirespy is right about not needing the Command and Control node as the broadsides are two linked. Also what weapons are you giving the broad sides? Heavy rail rifles or high yield missile pods? I'd suggest going with the missile pods then switch your XV8 to fusion blasters. That way if you encounter any high AV models you can deep strike him in for an easy tank pop. With the extra points you will have I'd suggest giving your broadsides early warning overrides. This will give you some defence against deep strikers.

My bad, I read the cannot bit for overwatch with the can bit for being used in conjunction...
