So; according to rumour there might be a limited edition starter box just before Dark Vengeance comes back out with the new rulebook, but with Space Wolves and Orks instead of Dark Angels and Chaos. NatfkaThere are leaked pictures and possible contents. BoLS Lounge Contents copied from Bell of Lost Souls Lounge Allegedly the contents of Stormclaw are: 40k 7th Edition mini-rulebook (only in english) Campaign book with Battle for Blistered Isle and first part of Battle for Alaric Prime, 32 pages. Orks: Grukk Face-Rippa 5 Nobz 10 Grots 1 Runtherd 3 Killa Kanz Space Wolves: Krom Dragongaze 5 Wolf Guards 5 Grey Hunters 5 Blood Claws The main question is whether Empty wants to go halves on this and then we can split the rulebook and dice down the middle with a power sword. (Seems a teeny bit pricey for the contents, however.... .....)

Is it just me, or does Grukk Facerippa look like they just took the old AoBR plastic PK Warboss body and stuck a different set of arms, head, and bosspole onto it, and added an attack squig? Also, I've got to say I'm really not a fan of the new method for painting Orks that the 'Eavy Metal team has developed--the skin on the Warbosses and Nobz is far too light green, and so are Boyz--they are almost indistinguishable from da Grotz and Snotz an' dat jus' ain't right...

The warboss does look a lot like the AOBR boss... subtle differences but overall stance and details seem very similar.
I'd easily believe that was a conversion. However what I think has happened is they used the same CAD model and re-worker a few bits (which they cut and pasted from the nobs kit).
the appeal of the new paperback rule book is high though.

Thanks for that link, Woz. The model for Krom Dragongaze looks interesting but he's infantry. I was expecting him on a thunderwolf because that resin special character is going to be discontinued. Hang on! The wolves have 16 infantry, no heavy weapons or even specials apart from a heavy flamer . What the heck are they supposed to do to the 3 killa kans? Krak grenades won't work. Thunder hammer/ powerfist/ chainfist them to death with the wolf guard, striking last, with only 3 models that can attack?

Kanz are AV11 HP2 and they flinch when one dies. Concentrated bolter fire should be fine. (Also I'll split if you want to)

whats a kan's side armour - AV11 is beyond bolters unless I missed something.
but yeah, I think that you can do okay against the kans if you can flank them with a handfull of marines.
however - against any other small force out there I think they could have a bit of a tough time with no ranged AT. (that statement works for both forces!)

Guess I was distracted when I typed that. Thunder hammers and power fists will work out fine though. Kanz are terrible in close combat.

looking at the kits available, the orks have a fair few rokkit options:
Nob sprue has 1 kombi rokkit, the Boss has a Kombi rokkit and (best place for a rokkit) the Kans can take one each.
Plus if you have an aegis defence line you can stick the grots on an AA gun too. (since they are too short to shoot over the wall at infantry they have to shoot flyers anyway)!

Excellent. This is already up for pre-order. According to BoLS it already sold out in the US and Australia.. Yeah, on the US GW site it's listed as no longer available... My local GW manager had just sent out a Book o' Face message about pre-order last evening, so it sold like hotcakes, apparently... Anyone want to speculate that we'll be seeing the "exclusive and limited" content of this set re-released at a later date?

I all but guarantee that the war boss and wolf lord will be released as plastic sets at a later date. Possibly just the war boss with some extra options, but I recon both.

The Warboss hardly seems to be bait on the hook as a limited character. Would he really sell as on of GW £15 plastic character kits?
The SW captain seems a lot better.

Not as a special character but as the basis for a bild yer own warboss multi part.

I hope they get released with more options; those new clamp-pack characters (sm captain, librarian, ig commissar with funny eldar sword, ork mad dok, ork mek) are very static and limited in pose/ options/ gear. They're just spruced up snappies, two of which are worth more than half a starter box. For starters they could just change the heads to make Krom / the Facerippa slightly more unique.

Yeah, I think given the amount of Ork bitz I've got laying around that I'll be converting my own Grukk Facerippa out of bitz and old AoBR Warboss bodies (if I can find some extras) if I ever want to run him and I get my hands on the rules for him. The one bit (or bits set) from the limited kit I'd really like is the Attack Squig, although I've got a bunch of metal squigs laying around for just that purpose.

what interests me is the power klaw.. I'm sure I've seen that design before - possibly on the FW ork boss on the warbike?

Actually, I think there's a PK design like it--with the buzz saw replacing the lower single claw--in the Nobz kit?

Not in the nobz kit.

Ah yeah, there was a 'uge choppa with a whirly saw blade in the Nobz kit and that's what I was thinking of. The FW biker Warboss did have a saw/PK arm, but it's much more impressive than the one on Grukk...

HOLY SCHNIKEY!!!
My FLGS had multiple copies of Stormclaw in stock so I grabbed one. Thank goodness for the gamer discount... I had no idea that this set would actually be in stock anywhere, given how fast the pre-order sold out on GW's site. I've just pulled the shrink wrap off the box, and haven't looked at the contents yet, but if anyone has questions, I'll do my best to answer them...
Edit:
Okay, so aside from the characters, the minis in the set are full-up production sprues, fully poseable, etc. GW just took the relevant sprues from the Nobz, Kanz, Grotz, Space Wolves Terminator, and Bloodclaw/Grey Hunter (the new ones I think) kits and stuck them in the box. Grukk is more along the lines of a hybrid between the Nobz and the Flashgitz, while Krom seems to be more along the lines of the new clampack mono-pose characters.

I pick one up not long ago from my GW too. I didn't think I would be able to get one when I saw they were all sold out online. I'm pretty impressed with what comes with it too, I just need to find someone who I can trade my orks for their wolves.

Yeah, it's a damn solid box set. I've put together Grukk and one of the Killa Kanz so far. I also went on a rummage and gathered together all of my Space Wolves stuff from my aborted attempt at reconstituting the SW army I sold almost 20 years ago. Gonna have another go at them (although I still need to try and find a metal Ragnar mini, as he was the only one I couldn't find when I was buying up all the metal character figures) and incorporate the new plastics into the force. As an added bonus, while doing this I found a box of Wolf Guard Terminators still in its shrink wrap.
