OK so I just got out of jail after doing 10 months in one of the 'worst jails' in the country. Ask me anything!

@trooper: Not yet, but since my sentence was classified as non dangerous I am eligible. I need to successfully complete probation first. I am well on my way to getting my rights back. Paradill: Thanks man. I am glad YOU are back as well. @foster: The Argos are testing your mettle! Make them pay for their insolence! buddha: If you mean 'people of Irish decent' then, yes, there were hundreds just like everywhere in the USA. But Irish from Ireland...no. Zero. @adken: I never dropped the soap. I quit showering there because so many times I heard there was feces on the floor. I don't shower where others poop.

How many scorpions were you able to kill while in there?
Were you able to do any academics like you had mentioned?
What books did you read?
Is your house okay?
Are you going to start pounding away at words with Ulrich again?
What is best in life?

How many scorpions were you able to kill while in there? Were you able to do any academics like you had mentioned? What books did you read? Is your house okay? Are you going to start pounding away at words with Ulrich again? What is best in life? 1)My tent-mate(of which there were about 35+) said he got stung and killed it. I am dubious though in 300 days only hearing about one? Nah probably not a scorpion. 2)I learned my first 100 words of Arabic. Brushed up on my Spanish. I now consider myself mostly bi-lingual when it comes to Spanish. I met a really cool guy from Iraq and he was the driving force behind me learning Arabic. Really proud of myself on Arabic. He would say many many times that I was a genius and that I learn quickly. Languages have come to me easily in the past so I guess he may speak some truth(learning language easy, not being a genius). I have an awesome HVAC repair manual but it's hard-cover and those are not allowed to be brought in. 3)I read about a half dozen by James Patterson. Kept sharp with the GED workbook(already have my diploma but it was still fun). 3 books on chess. Countless magazines(mostly Men's Health). 4 Smithsonian magazines. Oxford Dictionary of Current English language. Western Garden Book. Game of Thrones(unfinished). Journey to Ixtlan(great quirky book). Me Talk Pretty One Day(funny). The Demon Spirit by R.A. Salvatore. Under the Banner of Heaven by Krakauer. Uncle John's Endlessly Engrossing Bathroon Reader. Several others I have forgotten.... 4)My house is a little trashed and messy but that's to be expected when you evict a family of four. More on that later if you guys want to know. 5)ABSOLUTELY!!!!!! 6)To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women.

@trooper: I saw him from about 100' away when he exited the jail next to ours. I thought of calling him names but it isn't HIS fault I'm in jail. @ Adken: Human Stains(a term I use to describe the lowest of the low) don't care about anyone but themselves and feel they can poop on the floor unanswered. The yard was going to go crazy with violence if the perpetrator was ever discovered. It would have been a 'rainbow smash'. That when all the races gang up on someone and beat on them. I used a wet towel with soap and just wiped myself down at my bunk. After a while I was going home to shower which isn't really allowed but I did it anyway. emptyhat: I will have to see what that is. I have no idea what you are talking about.

I'd like that very much Req. My goal is to be out in your neck of the woods before the end of the year.
On a side note; I asked my fellow inmates for their pennies. I started by picking them up in the yard and had a little collection going. They would ask what I was saving them for. I am going to buy a bottle of liquor with them and have a shot with all the inmates that contributed. So far I have about $80 in pennies. So the question is....what should I buy?

That was generous of them. I think you should get 2-3 bottles of your favourite liquor/ booze, then decide if you want to down them all in one or spread the drinking out over several nights.

It's over half a year since your return to what most of us take for granted.
What're you doing with your life? What, since release, has happened that has surprised/disappointed/encouraged/discouraged you?
I assume you're a family man. How're things that way? Like how did they cope with your absence? How is Family life different now?
If you're not a family man ignore the last paragraph.
But I refer to my first question. I assume it was your first time "in nick". correct me if I'm wrong. Not just "what're you doing", but also "how has your life changed?

What're you doing with your life? What, since release, has happened that has surprised/disappointed/encouraged/discouraged you? I assume you're a family man. How're things that way? Like how did they cope with your absence? How is Family life different now? If you're not a family man ignore the last paragraph. But I refer to my first question. I assume it was your first time "in nick". correct me if I'm wrong. Not just "what're you doing", but also "how has your life changed? I shall answer the questions in order: **What am I doing with my life: I am now an apprentice machinist and it is going gloriously. I found out a week ago that if everything goes as planned with funding I will end up with free classes and $7000 in free tools! I have recently acquired a kitten who I am molding into a complete badass. I'm stilling writing screen plays. I've decided to hold off on learning more Arabic because I am no longer in contact with any native speakers so what's the point. I'm addicted to chess and have been told that I am good. That's not bragging. Just relaying what others have said. **What, since release, has happened that has surprised/disappointed/encouraged/discouraged you? Surprised: My probation officer is really laid back. Disappointed:The people who I met in jail that I thought I would keep in touch with and the ones I actually do keep in touch with are a ratio of about 20 to 1. Which I'm fine with. Encouraged: I'm an apprentice machinist! Also I will eventually get my guns rights back I've been told. Discouraged:I am very discouraged to bring up my felony status with acquaintances because I hear stupid inane comments like "did you learn your lesson" or "I bet you will never do THAT again" as if I did anything wrong. I will be one of the last people to say I'm perfect, but I acted within my code of beliefs and see not what I did as 'wrong' but as 'misunderstood'. **I assume you're a family man. How're things that way: I have no idea why you would assume that. but I would not classify myself as a family man. I have a family, yes, but no children or wife. **Like how did they cope with your absence? My mother completely fell apart. I actually lost a bit of respect for her. Not because she carried way too much, but because she wouldn't listen to me. At the risk of sounding cocky...I am the guy in jail others are afraid of not the other way around. My mother wouldn't realize that. **How is Family life different now? It has reverted back to normal now that I'm out of jail. "*how has your life changed? I always wondered how I would do in a jail scenario. I flourished while in. Spent my time wisely. Made some good friends. Learned A LOT. But the biggest surprise/thing I learned is that I can lead people. I've been told that 'what I say goes' and 'I really respect what you did', things of that nature. People referred to me as a badass even though I had only gotten violent once. I guess my beliefs were what they were talking about. There was talk that I would run the whites(jail/prison is highly segregated) on the yard but I refused. --There was an incident that happened that cemented my standing in the yard. I will tell it if you are still interested. It's a rather long ordeal.
