Hello, it has been a couple of weeks since my last post. Among the steel legion models I have collected I have:
Las gunners 86 (35 unpainted) Grenadiers 13 (9 unpainted)
These two models seem to be the most easily converted to plasma/flamers. I currently have 6 centurion plasma gun bits. I plan to use all 6. What are the max number of flamers and plasma usually collected in an army?

Plasma guns are usually limited to BS 4 Company Command Squads and Veterans. This places a cap on how many of them you need, since regular BS 3 guardsmen are unlikely to make effective use of them.
Note that Plasma Guns are extremely dangerous when used for overwatch or any other sort of snap fire attack. The gunners are just as likely to wound themselves as they are to hit anything. I'd advise against using them with units of Veterans that are out in front and likely to be assaulted.
On the other hand a Guardsman with a Flamer is 12 times as accurate as a regular guardsman in overwatch. You can give them to the Infantry Squads in your blob squads, or make Special Weapons Squads of Flamers and embed them in the blob where they can get assaulted. With good timing and placement you can have the Flamer squad advance and flame incoming enemy units and still have flamers left to receive a charge.
