Hi all, I have a friendly mini tournament coming up and just wanted to post my list to get some feedback and constructive criticism. This will be my first actual 7th edition games. I played in a Kill Team tournament but we all know how different they are from normal games. Thanks for your time and comments.
HQ - Company Command Squad - Plasma Pistol Carapace Armour 2x Plasma Gun Heavy Flamer Medic
Chimera (ML/HF)
Primaris Psyker - Level 2
Troops #1 - Cadian Veteran Squad - Bolt Gun Carapace Armour 2x Melta Guns Heavy Flamer
Chimera (ML/HF)
Troops #2 - Catachan Veteran Squad - Boltgun Forward Sentries 3x Flamer Heavy Weapons Team w/Las Cannon
Heavy Support - Basilisk - Camo Netting
Fortification - Aegis Defence Line
So depending on my opponent the CCS and Melta Vets stay together and support each other moving to mid field and beyond. The Catachans stay behind the defence line with the Primaris Psyker attached next to the Basilisk. The Psyker rolls on divination giving whatever I need twin linked and has a go at another psychic power. What do you think?
P.s One question I had was, I heard that any CHARACTER can now be your warlord. Does that mean the Primaris can be elected by me to be the warlord?
Thanks again

To answer you questions, yes he can! They changed the rule around and removed the stipulation for having the highest leadership. This of course sets up the comical situation where you can have Nork Degdog as your warlord over the company commander. The rule is made that way to allow unbound armies to still have a warlord trait.
As for your list. That looks fine for the most part. However, some of your upgrades are questionable especially at such a low point game. For example, in your CCS you have dumped around 25 points into survivability upgrades. They already have a Chimera so you really do not need both medic and carapace. Drop the medic and take another Plasma gun. Drop the plasma pistol. In general plasma pistols only get around one shot per game. It is a really big waste for so many points.
Don't mix weapons profiles. A flamer is a short range template weapon that is strong verse medium infantry. A lascannon is a super long range anti tank weapon. Every turn you use that unit you was either 3 flamers or 1 lascannon worth in points. Same thing in the melta squad, if you are doing it right those meltas are drive by shooting another vehicle, the flamer just sits there wasting its points. Take 3x melta on the one squad and change to grenade launchers or sniper rifles on the lascannon one (or nothing).
Drop the camo nets on the bassie. It is a cool upgrade, but really at such a low point level you are better of getting more units. '
If it were me, I would drop both heavy flamers, the 3x flamers, the camo net, and the plasma pistol. At this point you could afford another veteran squad or a CCS to give orders to your lascannon vets.

Yvain, thanks for the reply.
I thought as much with the character/warlord question. Thank you for that. It'll defiantly change my tactics now.
Just a note on the list in general, all the models I've included are wysiwyg. I mean I'd love to kit them out differently but I don't have a lot of other models... that being said I'll address my choices in upgrade. Please feel free to respond with a counter argument. I'm open to other players feel back. I want to be a better gamer.
The medic, I've never played before and even thou he is 15 points its half what it was last codex so I thought I'd give it a go. Plus mines quite nicely painted. The carapace armour is for general survivability and together with the medic's FNP 'should help with gets hot on the plasmas. The plasma pistol is on the CC, I have another one but he has a power sword so it's really just the wysiwyg rule I'm trying to stick to. So out of my two options I think the plasma pistol is the better one. If chimeras hadn't gotten nerfed I would have defiantly kept 3 special weapons in the vet squad and 4 on the command. But now only having two models fire out of the chimera has really changed things. As I really don't want to get my guardsmen out of the chimera ever (unless for objective grabbing) I can only really utilise two of the special weapons. The heavy flamer is in each squad because 1. It's a relaitavly cheap special weapon 2. It makes the squads less specialised but more diverse 3. When/if the chimera gets assaulted I can over watch out of it. The forward sentry squad has the three flamers because I have the points spare and I have the models and assaulting with over watch should be nasty. The camo nets on the basilisk behind the defines line will give me a there plus cover save, which I personally think is amazing. A side note on camp netting, you don't have to remain stationery to receive the plus one to your cover!!
If this was your list, how would you rewrite it and what new unit/s would you put in? Thanks for your time. -Cdr.Wattz-

Overall, I like your list. I'd only make two changes. Take a Russ instead of a basilisk. And take a flak missile team instead of the lascannon. At 750 pts it is possible to see flyers and you have almost nothing to counter them. The Russ is much more versatile than the basilisk, and can brawl with vehicles or infantry with less chance of dying.

Ok, I've been playing around with the list.
What list do you think is the best and why? Which one is more of an all comers list?
Thanks again for your time.
