Hello guys,
I have been re-reading though the IA volume 1 2nd, and re-read the rules on the sentry guns,
First question: has anyone used them before?
They seen really good for the Pts, they do take up a HS slot, I'm looking at using the as last line defence,
I normal play a mixed list, I have a gun line behind a agies defence line with couple of Leman Russ to add fire power. Then along side that I have some vets in chrimeas and an vendetta,
The plan would be to place some HB Sentry guns outside the defence line to force them to be charged first, with T6 and 3+ they could give me a turn or 2 extra shooting or cause people just to ignore the defence line altoghter for softer targets,
What do people think?

If you're playing an unbound list, or simply taking a second detachment and not planning on taking more armour. Then yes, they're great for their points costs, and much more survivable than heavy weapon squads, whilst still be being cheaper. Just don't forget the sentry modes.

Sentry guns are 40k approved so you don't have to be unbound or a second attachment, you can take 3 sentry guns for a single Heavy support slot,
The sentry mode selection won't make a big difference since they will be Heavy bolters

I know they are, I only say taking them in an unbound list or with a second detachment to free up those valuable heavy support slots. They do unfortunately share the same slot as wyverns and leman russes.

That's very true, sorry I miss read your comment,
It would work fine, with a imperial amour attachment, Leman Russ count as troop options

Three work good at holding my armylists down on a windy day.
