So bought my fisrt valkyrie and I am almost done assembling it . Most complicated kit yet might finish painting it by February . My issue is I can't see how useful it could possibly be . At 100 or so pt you get 2 one use rockets that are useful only against light vehicles and multilaser . All of that hitting just 50 percent of times . I guess ypu can load it with more guns but then it gets contradictory lascannon is antitank rocket pods anti blob and the hb are jack of all trades but merely make a difference . As for parasuting on the table it sounds dangerous .... I guess it could serve as anti air but the quad gun does this better and cheaper . So what is all the fuss ? Why should I use them deriously explain . For the points I could get a tank ....

Show me a tank that can air-insert infantry and you're in the VDV.

True enough but insert is not the most precise term . Throw out of the window and hope some of it doesnt break sounds more accurate

Valks can land.
People aren't making a fuss about the Valkyrie, they're instead talking about the Vendetta. Now the Vendetta exchanges half of its transport capacity and all of its weapons for three twin-linked lascannons. Although I personally would have taken either the price increase or reduced transport capacity, GW decided to stick us with both. It's still the best anti-air unit we have, and one of the best in the game as a whole.

melta vets inside the valkrie... blow up land raiders... i run thunderbolts, they dont have very many weapons either. imperial fliers arent the greatest on the table, if you want a flier that kills other fliers, a vandetta is the way to go

See, now you can put a Scions Command Squad with four meltas and orders inside a Vendetta, and blow up two Land Raiders at the same time!

yes, i actually just read the new rule book and learned you can only put six in a vandetta... that is stupid lol oh well... so the way i see it is scions meltas 1 vandetta, 2 valkyries, with missile pods or whatever lol or if scions are two pricey, two vet squads and a ccs with meltas or a special weapons squad if you can do that... Consider either the three twin-lascannons or a couple multiple-rocket pods - more firepower. Take an Elysian D-99 force to make them BS4. I haven't used Valks much, though...

fullmetaljacket: " imperial fliers arent the greatest on the table "
I play with and against imperial forces and must completely disagree here.
AV12 is nearly standard for imperial flyers and they come with transport capacity, the ability to hover, decent guns (excluding the door guns), and are reasonably priced.
yes, the vendetta got nerfed.. not enough in my opinion. I still enjoy my vendetta and it's occupants haven't changed since before the nerf, the cost is reasonable given it is probably the best AA unit in the game (due to its additional versatility of transport + hover + AV12) and once finished killing aircraft it completely dominates all tanks too.
The valkyrie is a transport which can take 2 rocket pods which do NOT twin link, they fire 2 separate blasts at the same target unit. they are amazing at anti-infantry work and enable your embarked infantry a good chance of arriving exactly where you want:
turn 1 it arrives it zooms toward target and blows fleshy things into tiny little pieces, turn 2 they hover toward target and allow disembarkation while causing more death and misery, turn 3 the unit which was transported is causing merry hell and the valkyrie is no longer a priority allowing it to continue firing until turn 5 when they finally realise it has destroyed their army and all the embarked unit did was fire of a bunch of melta shots at a tank worth a 100 points or so.
(unless they had a super heavy - in which case the super heavy died to the melta shots and so did most of the table in the subsequent explosion).

Hm, maybe I need to use flyers more often!
