I'd ask Chemin about Deathstrike Missiles...

I don't know anything about this formation. Is it in one of those new campaign books?
I've only really used my deathstrike about 3 times; my conclusion upon using it again on Sunday is that it's absolutely rubbish. For 10 points more I could have used my manticore. In fact if I dropped the commissar I could have take the manticore, another regimental adviser and upgraded a vet heavy weapon from a/c to l/c. In short, one shot weapons are OK for small points , like a hunter killer missile or a combi-grav but steer clear of using expensive one shot weapons, like the Deathstrike..

OK, so I had to look at it.
It looks like it's from Apocalypse but it must be the new edition. If that's the case then this is probably Apoc only.
3 things of note:
It costs about the same as an Imperial Knight in points
It's not a one shot weapon because you get the mini 3" blast marker kicking around, so that makes it quite good.
No saves of any kind allowed against it; that alone makes it better than a normal deathstrike.
In conclusion I don't think its worth paying the points in small games but in a huge apoc game it would be OK to deal with titans or superheavies. Then again they might not survive to fire in those conditions anyway, what with all those volcano cannon blast markers kicking around from turn one and turbo multi lasers..

At that many points I wouldn't risk it for the biscuit. (cost of deathstrike + formation cost)
The scattering vortex is a nice afterthought; I'd like to see this used (successfully) in an apoc battle report.

Its a wonderful beer and pretzel game formation, being able to vortex an entire WAAGH! off a table, or a massive host of Daemons vanish from sight. And when the smoke clears from that first shot, you have that vortex baseball bouncing around....just fantastic. But it comes with all the downsides of the Deathstrike, it can get blown up before it can go off or just plain scatter and miss! Use it for fun, but nothing competitive.

It is from Apocalypse Warzone: Pandorax supplement.
