Seems strange with all the fw stuff being released at the moment as they have sort of filled an army kist, can't see them all going plastic so soon. Perhaps they are going to do plastic titans or something.

Perhaps they are going to do plastic titans or something. That'd be fun. Hopefully they'll do some kind of Skitarii kit and a few cool tech-preists. Even if that appears I'll be pretty happy.

Ok dude, although work is craaaazy, I'm doing loads of extra paperwork in the evenings, then there's the usual family/father/husband/dog owner stuff inbetween! I'm hoping to get back into some semblance of a hobby come the summer holidays! I don't think I've painted anything for nine or so months... and you know I like painting! Although I have been playing Space Hulk: Ascension a lot, that's great fun

wow.. I know how that feels.
I've been attempting to do a diploma, parent, work mental hours, move house, and briefly we had a dog.. and will probably have another one soon.
I miss the hobby, though have enjoyed being more involved in the real world.
I recently discovered the arduino and all its associated fun.

Hi, 3ff3ct! Good to hear from you.
Mechanicus sound great - at least they'd be the best army for repairing your own vehicles.

Yeah I know they'd be wierd in every aspect, which is the appeal really. And all the conversions I could get away with This has now appeared... imgur.com/a/W8eIR

interesting.. seems like the chaos defiler / spider bot is getting a mechanicus pre-heresy reference.
quite like the look of the mechanicus foot troop.
on a similar note - I very much like the latest forgeworld mechanicus offering.

There are even more Mechanicus pics popping up on BoLS, including weapon stats...

Most of it was leaked on reddit. These guys look pretty strong. 4+ 6+++ all around is pretty durable for their cheap price. The Rangers regular weapon is S4 AP4 range 30. That will make Tau and Necrons cry. (Necrons deserve it after Decurion nonsense ) And the short range rad weapons seem pretty great two. Str 3 Ap5 Assault 3 with causing 2 wounds every 6 will murder light infantry and even be scary to MEQ. It makes me kind of disappointed because Stormtroopers should have gotten some of this same love. The infantry models look pretty amazing as well. I wasn't going to pick up a box, but I am kind of tempted by how cool they look. The walkers are not my cup of tea, but minus the creppy bondage guy they are looking kind of great too. I wonder what they will get for transports. They kind of should have access to most of the imperiums vehicles since they make them.

Yeah, these guys are looking cooooool! I'm not sure on a few points (the top of the spider tank looks a bit boxy) although definately convertable. I quite like the walker, it looks totally barmy And the rules look pretty decent too, although I imagine they will be 'codex creep/flavour of the month' until the next release of uber death spam....

I have to say looking at the fluff I have seen, the models, and the rules. This is looking like a pretty great release. GW might have knocked this one out of the park.
I was disappointed there were no sisters and not caring about this release at all. Now having seen this stuff I kind of want to buy a squad.

I like those walkers; I was about to say 'codex creep is being erased yadda yadda' but then I saw the leaked rules for the walkers; they're way better than sentinels. Armour 11, the Lancers get a 5+ smoke cloud cover save and they outflank; 10 points more than a standard scout sentinel... Shame I've got too much to paint and no money, really..

I was disappointed there were no sisters and not caring about this release at all. Now having seen this stuff I kind of want to buy a squad. I'm actually speculating that the Skitarii may be a test bed for plastic Sisters, as their helmets, and many of their features (especially robes) are similar to the Sisters'... When I first saw the leaked Skitarii, my immediate thought was, "Slap some boob-armor on them to feminize them up and they'd look like Battle Sisters!" Given the leaps and bounds GW plastics have been making recently, I wonder if they have gotten to the point where the "technical difficulties" that have historically been cited as hindering a plastic release for Sisters in PA may have been overcome?

That's just a fandex not an official codex.

that's a nice codex though I agree with chemin.
one of the reasons is that the mechanicus army in white dwarf has weapons which are not listed in the fandex.
am liking the mechanicus stuff, and it seems very popular in general as the white dwarfs in my local GW store have sold out.
while i like it, i'm doubt i'll invest in it.

Yeah; if it was official then the units would have had the official names, like Ironstrider Ballistarius, Sydonian Dragoon, or Skitarri rangers/ vanguard. There's nothing wrong with fandexes; they are very useful as stop gaps until your favoured faction gets a codex. Edit ; they're already up on advance orders: GW Admech preorders... that was quick...

I am suprised at the lack of discussion regarding the Ad-Mech.
I am wondering how the codex combines with the forge world stuff; are they separate army lists or do they have interchangeable parts?

I saw the Skitarii and the Sydonian Dragoon unpainted but assembled at GW Plaza/ Oxford Street a couple of days ago, while ordering my Whirlwind. They look really ace; there's a weird new base size; one Skitarii has a long rifle and is standing on a strange oval base. Didn't realise it looking at the pictures on the GW site; thought it was 40mm round but it isn't.
Apparently there might be more rules on the way...

Post by treadiculous on Apr 9, 2015 11:05:41 GMT -5
is that not the base from the bike sets?
|
|
|
Post by cheminhaler on Apr 9, 2015 13:49:33 GMT -5
No; its shorter and fatter - kind of like a 40mm base but slightly ovalised
The rumours on BoLS and Natfka are pointing to a second 40k admech codex, called ~Cult Mechanicus. Which is weird ; why release 2 codex for a single faction?

Oh dear...
There are some silly-frightening things in the timeline of notable events in the Ad Mech codex, including a grand plan that couldn't possibly go wrong and destroy the entire human race.
Also, I really see myself getting some of these guys to ally with my Blood Angels to give them some much needed anti-aircraft support.
