G'day all, A mate and I have played many guard vs. 'nids games against one another with my tanks cutting swathes through his ranks and his MCs in turn demolishing my army. We recently played a game and agreed beforehand to not fielding any flyers which was a nice change to not have to inject a decent portion of your army in order to achieve air parity and meant that I could take more hellhounds and sentinels This time, however, we are playing a 2500pt game that will finish when one of us eventually tables the other with a few additional gentlemen's agreements in place: 1) No flyers or flying MCs 2) No MCs 3) No Tanks Therefore: grunts. lots and lots of grunts I have a about 10xvet squads I can field (which could easily be made normal squads), 100-120grunts, numerous heavy weapon squads, psykers, commissars, 5xpcs, 3xccs, 15xrough riders and 20xstorm troopers. I'm going to post my list on this thread soon however I thought I'd ask if anyone would bother with power weapons? I tend not to because the sgts carrying them are too squishy and die too easy. Whoops... haha Ok my first list regrettably has none of my shotgun vet squads so I might try and fit atleast one of these squads in... I think haha. This will be a bound army with a an attachment. The CCSs will sit back, issue get back in the fight as req'd and buff the shooting blobs. The PCSs with mortars will hide, shoot and give orders. The flamer death squad PCS will hold a flank in cover or near some terrain waiting for genesteelers, The commissars will go with the blobs and the priests will go into the squads I expect to reach close combat. I expect to run a gun line with two fire bases in each of my corners and send the 10xman squads out as speed bumps, hopefully launching the assaults, surviving my turn and then forcing his gaunt squads to waste a turn of moving as they finish them off my men the next round. The Rough Riders will be in reserve as my counter attack unit and the stormies will deep strike and take care of his biovores or warriors. I might swap out a Psyker to grab an OoF and Astropath to delay his reserves and for some Telepathic fun . Wanted to have some psychic fun and haven't decided what would be the best discipline to choose from will be. I never use psykers and my mate will probably assume that he will have uncontested psychic superiority which will be a fun surprise Wish I could put in some vets and HWSs of mortars, ACs and HBs but alas 2.5k only goes so far... Any feedback??
