One of the guys I play with has brought him self a macro cannon he plays dark angels. I went up against him yesterday and won but only by the sheer determination of my foots sloggers and their mad dash to claim the objectives on what was luckily the last round but took many casualties. I lost all 7 of my tanks and a whole lot of troops with out causing a single hull point on the dam thing. With the ability to change from a D weapon for tanks and a 10 inch blast for troops, a Demi company that can take 6 rhinos with twin linked las cannons for 20 points a piece all with squads embarked, terminators that dropping on my line. And the commander that he takes in the building giving the building an 4++ the macro cannon ignore cover and reducing the scatter by 6 inches each shot throw, in 3void shields for the main building and 2 for the bunker and I can see my lucky win just being a very lucky break and would love to know what you guys would do to combat this. I ran a very heavy las army with Pask as warlord with demolishers (all 3 came on had no range for anything an got destroyed instantly bye bye 620 points) Two platoons with 25 conscripts each 2 heavy weapon las teams, 2 mortar teams, company command squad with master of ordnance and office of fleet, a basilisk, two wyverns, a battle cannon, agies defence line with ammo dump for las cannons and my vendetta That was fortunately not blown out the sky with the sonic boom and helped to gain me an objective at the end yay. Love some help cheers guys.

Drop Storm Troopers with meltas, melta veterans delivered by Valkyrie, and lascannon scout sentinels might be useful for destroying the building. How many points is it worth? . Looked it up. I guess I'd drop the demolisher tanks and dedicate those points to destroying the Aquila. I don't think Lascannons will cut it against n AV 15 structure that requires that you penetrate it to do anything worthwhile, at least not until you start reducing its AV from hits. So you'll need melta weapons at short range, and or demo packs. Or at long range Deathstrike and Storm Eagle missiles might be able to do the trick with their ST10 attacks. Cover saves van be taken against D weapons, unless your opponent rolls a 6, so buy camo nets for your vehicles giving them a +1 their cover saves, and giving you at least a 6+ for them. How about for your next game you take three of your Chimeras, strap intercontinental ballistic missiles to them, drape some camo nets on them and field them as Deathstrikes. Stick them in the best los denying cover you can get and then whatever happens have a fun game which involves lots of jokes. Bonus points if you drop a whole load of storm troopers in behind his lines in between nuclear strikes. Oooooor, you could do all of the above and build yourself your own Aquila Macro Cannon Strongpoint and take turns trying to balst each other apart with Macro Cannon Dakka.

His warlord that fires the cannon has ignore cover as a warlord trait. I was thinking of trying to get the out flank rule as a warlord trait and seeing if I couldn't get some melta squads in close that way but dropping storm troops could work I have two boxes of them still to build I might get on that but I also have a baneblade to build need to get on that as well the trouble is with all the free transport that he gets if I concentrate to much on one thing I have 6 rhinos with twin linked las filled with troops uncomfortably close to my lines. The las was ment to be for the tanks and the void shields and Pask and his team for the building but with the short they died long before they got off a shot I could out flank them too I suppose. Thanks for the ideas anymore would be great

I was just looking at Azrael's Lionhelm rules, courtesy of a friend, and the wording of the rule sqecifically states that Azrael's unit, or any vehicle he is embarked in get the 4+. No mention of buildings getting it. My friend was also of the opinion that the warlord trait that give precision shot to his shooting attacks would not count for the cannon because it isn't his shooting attack, the cannon is just using his BS as he is in base contact.

Yeah but if you look under emplaced weapons in the rule book it says the weapon takes on the special rules of the firer. I was under the impression that anything that applies to a vehicle applies to a building too. the same way that amour bane only says for vehicles but still counts for buildings and same with things like haywire. But if it specifies for building in a rule it does not confer to vehicles. I might be wrong but that was my under standing of the rules.

I did look that after I posted and you are correct. The Lion helm save only works for Azrael, his unit and any vehicle he is in though. So no 4+ building saves from him.
Your friend is getting the 4++ from Azrael isn't he?

Yeah he is gives a invol to everything in 12 inches or something along those lines I think it is a relic he take or some special issue war gear rather than the one that he already has.

I'm looking at the DA codex and I can't see anything like that. Ask your friend what it is.

The 20 point lascannon razorbacks is right ; for a full Battle Company you get free transports if you conform to the Demi Company formation. So you only pay for upgrading guns or adding extra armour etc.
Empty is right about the Lion's Helm not conferring a save; it would do if he were in a Land Raider or something. Maybe he should get an allied contingent and a Storm Raven. The Aquila Macro Cannon is an expensive bit of kit; he could easily squeeze some allies in instead. It's an easy mistake to make. Do you normally use fortification or were you having a special Stronhold Assault game?
To beat the void shields automatically you can fire from inside the bubble. It's 12" per shield.
