Simplicity can be genius! I feel that applies to these.

So today I primed probably about 50 marines, but I also actually painted one!

That's looking nice. I'm not sure if it is the angle but the Psword looks like it is just a flat blues colour right now, are you going to do any more with that?

hmmm, I find your claims of bad painting misleading, you have good skills!

It's actually a metallic blue but I need to redo it anyway since there's some mistakes on it. I just hate mixing that color because it uses a lot of paint. @tread: Still have a long way to go before I'm up to the same level you've been showing off on that Killkrusha. Also this is probably the best paint job I've ever slapped on something.

Reds - all I did with that tank is paint it red, then apply two coats of a dilute chaos black wash. The rest of it got a dry brush of silver.
I'm liking your neatness, the crisp white in the wings looks ace.

I agree with what Empty and Tread have said Reds.. That's a nice Sanguinary guard mate! If you're bad at painting, I'm a monkeys uncle (may be believable with how my ears stick out) Good job Reds, keep it up buddy! Dave

Your painting has improved a bit. It had no where to go but up. Granted, it wasn't as bad as those lime green sisters or Catachans with purple pants you gave me.

Actually now that I think about it the pants were red and purple. I'm sure the squad would have the "Blinding" USR if I put them on the table top.
Finished priming the last of my Not-Iron Hands infantry models today, as well as all of my blood angels, since my red primer showed up unexpectedly.

This is looking quite good. The metallic areas could use a wash followed by some highlighting to really make them pop, though, if you'd like to take your painting to the next level. Also, I love the Flak Rhino. Good stuff.

That is a well painted space vampire. The wings really capture the attention.

Thanks guys! The secret to the wings is really badly screwing them up then frantically trying to slap white paint on them to hide it.
@trooper: I did apply a wash but it was really more of a quick rinse. I'm just trying to get my painting up to "looks good from a distance" in a way where I can rapidly paint my collection. You and I will need to throw down when 8th Edition drops next year, so I'm hoping to finish both my Deathwatch and my BA between now and then.
Four sanguinary guard, a sanguinary priest, and a proxy Sanguinor have all been painted. Once I finish the last guard I should have my big killy beatstick done.

If you put on a black wash but find that there isn't much pigment in the mix then it might have mostly settled down at the bottom of the pot. That might be better for what you want if you only want light washes but you should watch out when you get down to the end of the pot in case you sudden;y find that it is very dark indeed.

The image is partially washed out from the light. It was absurdly sunny when I snapped the pic. Also, I accidentally spilled half my bottle of black wash the other day so it's darker now whether I like it or not.

As we condemn to the earth, RedsandRoyals lost half a bottle of Black wash, we remember the good times, not the bad. How he flowed over miniatures, and shaded them nicely.. not how started to pool and ruin paint because he was too dark and thick. And now we pray, for RedsandRoyals.. For whom we hope, will live on in happiness, and will not be engulfed in washlessness. In all fairness.. I would be very easy to top back up.. black paint, water and dish soap.. (the soap breaks surface tension, so it falls into the recesses.) Just take a little time, until you're happy with the results mate Dave

Two quick ones. First, my 99% done Sanguinary Guard, Sanguinor, Sanguinary Priest, and BA Captain with jump pack. Second, my 75% done Captain Haevmar (the crest was added this morning, will snap it off, prime it, and add it back later) kitbashed from about five different kits, and my recently converted and as yet unnamed Librarian in what will probably be counts-as Armor Indomitus. He's built from parts from 10 different kits, including Ahriman's legs. I now have 10 Mk.III marines and a single normal marine torso to play with, but I don't know what I want to make them.

The Sanguinary guard look ace reds! Is that a Black Templars Emporers Champion I see snook in there?
As for the other two, to say they're bashed together from so many kits, they really pull together really well! Loving finally seeing your work after all these years man!

The Sanguinary posse is looking sharp, some good looking marines (even if they have nipples tacked on to their armor). My only point of criticism would be the unpainted sand on the bases... that just makes them look uncompleted in my eyes.
I'm going to second what The Hawk said about the Captain & Libby; great looking models.

The Nipple Angels are looking great! Makes me kind jealous, since I've had those kits sitting around since they were released, but they haven't even been primed yet, much less made to look all gloriously nipple-y...

@the Hawk!: Aye, it is. That's my proxy Sanguinor. A friend of mine pinned swooping hawk wings to an old marine power pack years ago for my Canoness' jump pack, but since that's not an option anymore, I stuck it on an Emperor's Champion instead. nutty: Agreed about the bases, but I confess it's about all I'll do. It's actually one of GW's 'basing paints". I only used it to hide all the random paintbrush marks on the base that I make when I'm trying to clean a bit of paint off the brush. It's a bad habit, I know. @trooper: Save 'em until 8th Ed. By that time you may have gotten your X-Wing fix sufficiently to turn back to the nipple lords a bit. @kristen: Thanks!

If it is the paint and not just the sand then it probably looks better when you can see it a little more. It probably has much less risk of irksome shedding than sand without paint on it. You don't have any plans to cover the black rims though?
