I have a history bachelor's and master's, and a library master's. Only the library degree has gotten me permanently paid work. I probably could have done without the history degrees, but not only did I enjoy them more, I got three very useful internships out of them.
The catch is that combining them into full-time work at a museum will be difficult - certainly harder than work at a library, which is already hard to come by. I hear layoffs calling...

Finished Carrying the Fire and the book of Kiki's Delivery Service, but got started on Jeeves and Wooster. This is how someone who manages a library ends up with so many late fees -- too many things I've checked out, too little time, too little recall of when stuff is due and when to renew it.

My Vulture got destroyed today when I dropped it while moving it to prepare for my gaming table's inaugural game. However, while looking for the rear landing strut that went missing I discovered that Nurgle has been at play in the Super Basement TM, and I get to put the kibosh on whatever is the source of moisture under the rug where the cabinet I moved to look for where I thought the missing piece ended up, and eradicate the fungus that's trying to grow there (as well as chuck the lower third of cabinet, fortunately one of those cheap pressboard deals, as the stuff has infested the outer surface of the lowest pair of drawers... A fortuitous accident I would say. That is a shame, I hope you found the strut. I just purity sealed the main sections of my vulture, I can imagine much distress if I ruined my work by dropping it. I just have to paint the cockpit, punishers, front bolter assembly and canopy now. I would suggest fire but that may not be the best idea...

You did just finalize your master's degree. You're also in a special type of job market where there will always be money, and there will always be jobs. Take notes, kids. If you didn't major in the hard sciences, medicine, or law, you're not going to get a fancy job unless you know people. At least, that's how it is for the majority in the US, now with new and improved poorest poor among developed nations. Oh, and richest rich. Not sure if it's counted as hard science, but Engineering/CS/programming is a pretty good as well. It at least strikes a half and half at worst. Some of those interviews can get LONG because they'll actually hand you a test to fill out. Or they give you the test beforehand and you bring it with you to go over. Of course, the trade off is how dang hard it is. Either that or CS teachers have a really good conspiracy going. My first CS class got cut down to almost a quarter of it's original roster at the end of the semester, and I think a little under half of those didn't/won't have made it through the second. And we're just halfway through the freaking intro courses 0.0 . In unrelated news, apparently drinking apple juice before bed helps dreaming. Tried it last night, and all I remember by this point is a constant feeling of abject terror. EDIT: Oh hey, welcome back Hetlan! I'm not boasting: I'm pretty intelligent. Just about everyone here is far above average, I feel. I took computer programming in college... One of only two things I ever failed and didn't try again with an A. Never again.

It's quite possible the strut had fallen off somewhere else, as I turned everything in the section of the basement over and it has vanished. I never did like those struts very much, though, TBH, so when I put the Vulture back together, I may substitute something else in their place. Perhaps the landing gear used by the Space Guppy...
Fortunately, aside from the missing part, it looks like the paint job survived fairly well, and I will just need to glue on of the tail stabilizers back on.

I am pleased to report that I got the scope on my Mosin Nagant dialed in nicely at the range this morning, and my new acquisition didn't blow up in my face or otherwise spectacularly malfunction when I fired it. I am also pleased to report that the chemical attack on the biohazard uncovered in the Super Basement TM yesterday appears to have been completely successful. I bleached the hell out of the patch of rug where the mold was growing, then followed it up with the carpet shampooer (mechanized assault!), and then doused it with Lysol. I also poked around at the carpet prior to doing all this, and it wasn't going squish anywhere, so I don't think there was water coming from under the floor or down the wall. I suspect that the movers, being disgruntled when I didn't let them pull the "we're going to hold all your stuff hostage overnight for additional money" thing, allowed the cheap stack of drawers to get wet (I have moved in between two snow events), and that allowed mold to start growing on the bottom-most stack. Also, while emptying the stacks so I could take them apart to move them I found some awesome Necromunda stuff: a scummer, an Orlock Heavy with Heavy Bolter, and a Redemptionist.

Oh... Wait... I thought you meant Rogue Trader as in the "first edition of 40K book" as opposed to the RPG. I've got that too, but RedsandRoyals is the one who knows most about the system.

He plays with people's lives, because he's a madman.
I'd snag a copy of Into the Storm if you can, as it adds an awful lot of character background options and new gear (including the most OP mid-level gun in the game), and Battlefleet Koronus if you want more ship goodies. The adventures for the game are also pretty good, and I think they were the first of the 40k RPG books to have rules for Eldar.
If you have any questions about the system or any of the other 40k RPs, feel free to ask me. Req also knows them inside out and sideways, but I don't want to volunteer his help for him.

Today, my burning hatred of Soviet naming conventions for their tanks grows even stronger. And now I'm curious 0.o The short version is that I was modding a cold war military sim, and the Russians are HORRIBLE at naming things in a way that makes it easy to tell them apart. The T-72 is the worst offender. There's the T-72, the T-72A, the T-72M, T-72M Jaguar, and the Kpz T-72M (which are all the same tank technically), the North Korean T-72M (which is different from the other M models), the T-72M1 Jaguar, T-72M1cz, and Kpz T-72M1 (Again, all functionally the same), T-72M1M, T-72 Wilk, T-72B, T-72B1, T-72B Obr 1987, T-72B Obr 1989, and finally the T-72BU, which is actually a T-90 but only the North Koreans get to call it that. The T-55, T-62, T-64, and T-80 series also suffer from the same problem, but at least there are fewer variants. It's annoying to try and keep them all straight. Reds
