I have encountered a high level of stress since being out of jail. It may be depression, I don't know. I'm angering my way out of it. Thee feelings won't take me down!
On a lighter note; I'm going to the painters union hall today to turn my application and see if they accept me. Acceptance will augment my life in many different ways.
Wish me luck.

Good luck, Rook.
Reading and painting help take your mind off things, I find.

I've always liked the Mig-21. Ugly, yet functional.
Finished rereading the third Song of Ice and Fire book. I got partway through book five when I first started before losing interest, I'm trying to catch up again and then read the new side-stories and sixth-book sample chapters. Quite a good series, with some unintentional parallels with one of my favorites, Tales of the Branion Realm by Fiona Patton.

How is the MiG-21 ugly? It's got a smooth, tailed delta shape without the massive shoulder blocks of a conventional solid-nose aircraft.

I just got back from a follow-up with my doctor, and I have taken "teh diabeetus" and kicked it in the face and then curb-stomped it for good measure! My A1C reading is now in the normal range, and doc told me to stop all blood glucose control meds. I've got to stick with my nutrition plan and still monitor my blood sugar levels and let her know if they start to creep back up. But otherwise: WINNING!

@rt: It looks like someone punched it's nose in to it's face. It also looks aerodynamically superior to shoulder-mounted intakes.

@rt: It looks like someone punched it's nose in to it's face. It also looks aerodynamically superior to shoulder-mounted intakes. Yes, but significantly uglier. Not F-104 Ugly, but that's hard to top.

They all lose to the A-wing. They also all beat the B-wing.

Depends on if you like wings. That is one of the few good air vehicle designs from GW, though.

Eh. The F-104 I've always kinda liked. It's certainly more streamlined than your average Mig-15 thru -21. Still '60s-style clunky, but they were all like that - especially the Phantom. MST3K: The Starfighters made me regard the F-104 with amused affection, and the scene with one in The Right Stuff is just awesome.
Speaking of ugly planes, I spent last Sunday cataloging more museum models, most of them Westland Lysanders and BF-109s. Pretty much every liaison plane of WWII was ugly, with the exception of the sleek BF-108 Taifun. The Fiesler Storch especially lives up to its name, though I wouldn't mind riding in one. Someday I'd like to buy an ultralight, and there are a number of 3/4 scale replicas you don't need a license to fly.

Did someone say Valkyrie? Oh wait. Different Valkyrie... Weaaaaaaboooooooooooo Son, I was into anime long before that term ever became a thing... Remember, I'm OLD, and therefore I don't care. In other news, my first morning blood glucose reading after being told to stop taking my blood glucose control medication was smack dab in the perfect range. "Smells like... Victory!"

Eh. The F-104 I've always kinda liked. It's certainly more streamlined than your average Mig-15 thru -21. You would have been right if you'd stopped at the -19. The -21 was a superior design in, well, pretty much every way except the initial engine and it's radar capability. Still '60s-style clunky, but they were all like that - especially the Phantom. Lightning. Mirage III. Mirage F1. Canberra. Su-7. Son, I was into anime long before that term ever became a thing... Remember, I'm OLD, and therefore I don't care. So you're old, and obsessed with schoolgirls? K.

So you're old, and obsessed with schoolgirls? K. You're thinking of Req Yeah, I don't know how my posting something about awesome mecha named Valkyries, which were named by their designer (who was an aerospace engineer, IIRC) after the XB-70 equals me being obsessed with schoolgirls, RT... But again, I'm OLD so I don't care. Had an awesome game of X-Wing today with my pals at Ineptus Astartes. My evening blood glucose reading was also awesome, and I'm now waiting for nommy-nommy Thai food to be delivered. Then tomorrow a first date with an awesome-seeming woman...

Er, is that attempting to support, or deny, my comment that '60s planes were clunky-looking? By that I meant "not sleekly streamlined", which except the Mirages to an extent, these are.

I kind of like the lightning and the black widow.
And why is the text in the quick reply box all tiny? And the text in the edit/long-reply box all weird?
Upon further inspection, I notice that a lot of the fonts are wrong all of a sudden. I think the fonts for posts changed while I was editing this.

Lockheed P-38 Lightning, or English Electric Lightning?

I'm going to guess the Lockheed one, because he also lists the Black Widow
