There are decent conversion kits.

The only Space Guppy conversion kit I've seen was ages ago from Chapterhouse Studios, and haven't they since been run out of business?

I am surprised by the lack of storm talon, it doesn't make much sense to me.
An assault army that likes flying deployment can't have a flying assault vehicle.
You can still run the "Storm Wing" formation data-slate I believe.
Conversions are possible, I had lots of fun making my conversion - though i wish I had re-done the cockpit and frontal hull shape more.
How closely do you need to stick to GW stuff with your games, surely there are some UD-4L Cheyenne drop ship models you could use?

I'm a bit miffed that assault squads are apparently fast attack, not troops anymore...
SO bang goes the Angels Amethyst all assault marine BA successor army (they used to die a lot anyway). Still, they're purple.. I could just make another 2 Soul Drinker armies with maxed out assault marines.
I got the white dwarf with the new cities of death cards and the new BA formations. There's one I might be able to use with some of my BA but I need the new codex and that £30 Leviathan book with the new cities of death rules. And I got more devastators.. so lock up your Leman Russes or something.

Eh, you can always still ally in the stuff or play unbound.

NOBODY MAKES YOU BUY THE GODDAMN THING. The white dwarf? No, but the new shiny cards for city of death attracted me. If nothing else the cards will make good throwing shuriken. Eh, you can always still ally in the stuff or play unbound. That's an idea. An unbound assault company. It might be better using the raven guard tactics so they could be leafy marines instead.

There has been a recent turn of events that has enabled me to get a job in the industry I wanted. Ladies and Gentlemen of the Underhive....I am now an apprentice machinist like my grand-father before me(a man I deeply respected).
In 6 months time I will probably be able to get out to see Reds, Req, and Trooper if they are down for an Arizonan to spend time in their midst.
And a year from now I shall be in the UK to finally see RT.
Rook is pleased.

Congratulations, Rook!
Yeah, I think it's silly that the Derp Talon isn't included in the army list for a Chapter known for its love of flight. I really don't want to ally stuff into my BA, though, although I am tempted to add some Flesh Tearers in, along with a squad of each of the other successor Chapters just for a larf, and also for the joy of painting. Unforuntately I don't do the whole data-slates thing, and whilst a Cheyenne drop ship would be cool models for them, from what I've seen, are both incredibly rare and fairly hideously expensive... And I do kinda haz a sad face about Assault Squaddies now being Fast Attack rather than Troops, along with Land Raiders going away as dedicated transports--even though it's still mentioned in the fluff within the book that the BA have lots of them and can use them as dedicated transports.

I had beer and roast pheasant with an old friend. I bought gifts. I started and finished Nick Harkaway's Tigerman, which is beautiful, halycon-hazed, strange and sad. I arranged for a date this Tuesday. And now this.

I'm down for that too, if we can make it line up. I'll still be in the Virginia-Maryland area, but beyond that, I don't know.

GORRAM IT!!! I picked up the Blood Angels assualt termies box set today. Just opened the box aaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnd... The Termie legs have the back half of the upper torso molded onto them, and then the chestplates (except for the bare headed one for the sergeant) have the helmets molded into them, thus destroying any possibility to use this kit to create any kind of custom poses.

So I harnessed my insomnia last night to start the undertaking of re-constituting my Blood Angels using the new plastic kits. Whilst listening to Top Gear on BBC 'Murica I banged out:
5 Assault Termies BA Termie special character 1st Company Cap'n from the Shield of Baal supplement BA Termie Libby 13 Tactical Marines (10 Marine flamer squad (including Sergeant with hand flamer, Marine with heavy flamer, Marine with flamer) plus the Sergeant (with Inferno pistol), Marine with multi-melta, and Marine with melta gun for my melta squad) 3 Space Marine Bikes (Sergeant with Inferno pistol, 2 X melta bikers) 1 Attack Bike (multi-melta) 5 Assault Marines with jump packs (bodged together from standard Assault Marines, Death Company, BA Tactical Squad, and a couple of random bits, including 2 Assaulties with hand flamers)
Sleep will happen soon, as my eyes now feel like someone has thrown sand in them, and my left index finger has developed a spot in its tip that alternates between numbness and stinging pain.

Don't forget a melta-nipple command squad. That will be happening at some point. Non-Death Company Tycho will be needing to haz his posse to rid with him in DAT ASSAULT CANNON RAZORBACK afterall, fo' shizzle no nizzle... I have about two hours more before I can sleep as I'm running a self-clean on my oven, as five years' of use has built up enough residue that opening after roasting/baking something causes a smoke cloud to issue forth that set off my hallway smoke detector. I am also drinking Wild Turkey Honey Sting bourbon (so named because it is infused with Ghost Pepper extract), so between having been up for ~36 hours, plus the alkie-hall, shenanigans may ensue. Speaking of shenanigans, Rook if you want to come hang out next summer, that would be AWESOME! I may or may not be taking classes towards a second Master's degree at that point, but yes, we need to hang out.

To everyone except Reds, Req, Trooper, an RT: At the risk of sounding uber-important I wouldn't turn down a chance to see any of you in person either. It's just that a trip to the UK and the Virginia area has been in the works for years now. I wish MGK still posted on here, well, him and Ymmot. I miss them dearly......

We all do. The IGMB isn't the same without them.
Incidentally, will you be celebrating Christmas by running around your street at midnight in just a santa hat?

Maybe we should start up an IGMB(AM) achievements thread. One of them could be splitting a bottle of whiskey with The Rook.
