Chem, yeah it's a steroid. Hoping that it's effective... Tread, I'd hope so, he's a specialist with a practice that is the go-to for our local 'Murican football team's ortho needs. Granted I'd already told him about my previous diagnosis as a teen so he was primed to look for the tell-tale indicators before even touching my knees, and apparently the characteristic "deformities" (for lack of a better word) in the bones around my knees are so pronounced that they show up to a specialist like the Astronomicon to a Navigator who is in orbit around Luna. Once he noted that he was able to quickly confirm by putting my knees through range of motion tests, and I screeched/yelped when he manipulated my patellae in the way that is known to cause pain for people with my condition.

they love that don't they.. the "does it hurt if I do this?"
I broke my scaifoid (a little bone in the wrist) and the doctor delighted in pressing down on it asking if it hurt - bizarrely it didn't so he pressed harder and harder and said "you should be screaming on the floor by now" and looked disappointed - I think I was just lucky that the fracture lead in a different angle to the one he expected..

Well, they gotta do something to confirm the 'urty bitz, right? I'm just glad that the specialist was really on the ball and was able to diagnose me with a cursory exam and didn't send me for unneeded (and useless) radiology stuff, which seems to be the preferred route of the doctor who is filling in for my primary care physician while she's away on vacation.

So, I've taken up olympic weightlifting and cross country. I'm working out about 3 to five times a week now. I'm seeing two very bonny women, who are both aware of and okay with this state of (fner) affairs. I have a job, it's okay. I have a decent clan to play ARMA with, a ready supply of books, a massive TV backlog. I just dropped and did 25 press ups from cold. I can run a kilometre and a half, cross country, in about seven minutes. I'm the leanest I've ever been.
Guys, sorry if this is all very "me me me", and if the "me" seems unduly whiney, but I am exhausted and am posting this up here mostly to remind myself that life is good right now, and that my sadness is really just fatigue talking.
Req, glad Japan was good. Was it the sake that got you?
Anyone drinking any decent scotch? I've spent £100 on whisky this month (16 y/o Scapa for Fathers Day and a 12 y/o Bowmore for a birthday), none of it for me. Discovered a new, rather nice bourbon/blend recently; tin cup (old tin cup?). Very pleasant, very drinkable. Also, there is 12 year old Caol Ila in the shop, which is on the to buy list.
I've also gone back to t'mohawk
Troops, glad your physician is on the case. Ish. Mend up, ol chap.

I drank several fingers of Bowmore the other night, and it was more effective at relieving pain than the fancy prescription NSAID my ssubstitute-doc tried to prescribe for me before I saw the bone-doc. 'Tis a fine example of the distiller's art, it is.

Haven't tried Scotch yet. I understand it tastes like peat.
Just got back from the Miami SuperCon on a surprise day pass (had a sudden day off and decided to go). Picked up:
- Two GI Joes. - Carcassone, travel version (played an awesome demo game and decided to try it with the teens). - Two Groo comics. - Cheapass Games' Unexploded Cow (another possible teen game). - Hanabi (an interesting-sounding cooperative card game where your fellow players can see your cards, but you can't). - An old Nintendo Gameboy and one game (Pokemon Red).
Saw some cool costumes and T-shirts, had lunch, saw four Star Trek actors (but didn't get autographs or anything). Also picked up my Marauders action figures - seventeen of them. So many freakin' options that I've only assembled three so far and haven't even opened all the accessories and weapons yet. -

I recall that you didn't used to be good at push-ups, so that's a great improvement for you! I was out at an event, then after some of us went to karaoke. We stocked up on alcohol beforehand... where other people with brains got beer or something. I got a fifth of whiskey. With a small measure of fairness, that was more than I wanted. But I sneaked that into the karaoke room, and didn't pay attention to how much of it I was drinking. I'm glad people called an ambulance and I got treatment at a hospital. Which... was still cheaper than a night in a hotel. Req says: Pay attention to how much you drink, kids.

Haven't tried Scotch yet. I understand it tastes like peat. Some are more peaty, or less peaty, than others. You must simply have some Bowmore, as it is excellent, and reasonably priced too boot.

I like the peaty kind myself. There are also some flavour charts you can look at. I think the one I'm most partial too is Talisker, but I should probably try a few more.

I drank several fingers of Bowmore the other night, and it was more effective at relieving pain than the fancy prescription NSAID my ssubstitute-doc tried to prescribe for me before I saw the bone-doc. 'Tis a fine example of the distiller's art, it is. "Purely medicinal", as my family say. Aye, Req, I've been working on getting an all-around approach to fitness. Bodyweight, olympic lifting, power lifting and cross-country Scotches... I cannot recommend Bowmore; I've not had it/not had enough to recall a recommendation. Same with Knockando, and Macallan. Glenlivet is quite drinkable and sweet, for a Highland. Get a bottle of the 12 y/o now, as it's being replaced by a "Founders Reserve". The 15 y/o, matured in French oak, is drinkable, and the 18 y/o is very good, though quite smooth. Glenmorangie is incredibly light and smooth. No smoke, very little peat, completely atypical for a Highland. Dalwhinnie is a classic highland; sweet, complex, very smooth, lightly peated. Old Pultney is excellent Speyside, quite punchy and peppery, can really taste sea air in it. Macallan I remember as being good. That is all. Talisker I genuinely would say is overrated, but I am awkward by nature. Jura is a pleasant, if slightly commercial Islay, in it's three forms. Laphroig is okay. Pleasantly smokey, quite peaty as well Lagavullan is better. Very smokey, very peaty, very complex. You are forgiven for diluting with a teaspoon of tap water. At least for your first dram. Auchentoshan is a pleasant lowland (?) malt, quite a nice blend of peat and wood flavours in with the malts, very easy drinking. Tobemory is a god-tier islay. The 10 y/o is truly amazing, smooth, nicely smoked, but still light and drinkable. Caol Ila. Another gpd-tier blend of smokey malts and sweet, lightly peated water. Glenkinchie is quite middle of the road. Rather like Glenlivet but for lowlands, though I remember it being somewhat heavy on the peat to drink. Aberlour; I recall being okay, little too peaty Ardmour; quite good, pleasantly smokey

So I find the app that changes Book o' Face profile pics into rainbows in celebration of the SCOTUS ruling yesterday a bit too trite/trendy, and I also refuse to use apps. I did find this awesome Rainbow Warriors piece on Deviant Art, though, which is quite fitting, and used it for my page's background...

Facebook just sort of casually asked me if I wanted to update my pic since it's been a while.
I said no. I don't need to band on any trendwagons.

Danged IRL drama. Mostly worse than internet drama because it can flap about in your face so much more.

Still haven't seen it the first time. My Dad and brother weren't impressed, but they've never been into that sort of movie, come to think of it.
I have discovered animated Hellboy, but haven't started watching it either...
Finished organizing my Marauder stuff, and only dropped-n-lost one tiny piece in the process (one of those little rack things that fits in the forehead of a helmet). I probably won't find it before the cats do or it gets vacuumed up. Now to start building figures...
Finished Season One of the podcast series Welcome to Nightvale, quite good and I hope to hear more.

I hate it when that happens. I find the best way to find bits is to get right down on the floor and shine a torch/lamp horizontally, as the tiny shadow can help to make things visible. Of course, if the bit is really tiny it is almost impossible.

What fresh new hell have I gotten myself into now? Take a vintage DH-132 vehicle crew helmet shell and stencil stuffs on it... Drill holes through the shell and use self-drilling screws to bodge a SpatCave Studios Colonial Marine resin camera body onto the shell... Apply Tamiya putty in a liberal fashion to fill gaps...

Here they are in all their glory: And the first three figures I've built -- L to R -- A Snake-Eyes clone, a SWAT guy, and a Gundagai-style Imperial Guardsman with flamer.

Just got back from seeing "Fury Road" for the second time. Me and the wife were really looking forward to it but were both not impressed. Maybe cause we didnt see it in a cinema :/ Maybe cause we hyped it up to each other first or maybe cause we were both knackered.
