I'm with Covenanter, the new variants are nice and all, but I'ms ticking with the classic trusty Hellhound.

They added some detail on the Banewolf in the last newsletter.

To be honest with you, as long as it will lay waste to my enemies, it looks beautiful to me!

Has anyone used the new HH variants? How do they hold up?

I've proxied them all a few times.
Hellhound: Still great. I always try to take one against Nids, Orks, IG, and Tau. The new "Fast" rule and the ability to throw that template makes it great. I was a bit evil and gave it "Scout" via Creed, and used the Scout move to get it 6in closer to Aeon's gunline, then took the first turn and moved another 12in. They're great.
Banewolf: I think this is the best variant for Tourneys. It's great against MEQs, and still does a helluva lot of damage against Horde armies. It's really just exchanging the ability to throw the template for +1 to AP and the ability to wound on 2+. They work well in pairs (Meaning you put two wounds on the target, instead of just one). I would stick with the Hellhound if you aren't fighting MEQs or High Toughness units, though. Also, remember that the Chem Cannon is technically a defensive weapon, so you can still move 12 and fire it and the hull weapon.
Devil Dog: It gets left in th motor pool a lot, simply because most people rely on Vanqs and Lascannon sections to do AT work, but it's their loss. This thing is vicious, especially with a hull Multimelta combo. It's great for mixing it up with Rhino heavy MEQ armies or Mech Orks, and is a good supplement to Mech IG. Just don't rely on it for all of your AT needs, since it's more fragile then the Vanquisher.

Reds Versus Meganobs and things like that it would be great lobbing around small blast melta weapons you can't go wrong.

Hmm, that's a good idea. I never really have to deal with Meg Nobz. All I have to worry about are Nob Bikers (2 Banewolves mess them up pretty badly)
Might be worth trying the Devil Dog out against Zoanthropes too.

really, i think the modeling could be better, i can slearly see a massive modle line gap up all three turrets. i am not good at painting but even i can see that.
that said, i play to crush your enemies, have them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of their women. so to me i will still have 2, just to have as a out flanking unit form creed, or some such way, with perhaps pask to help out.

I'm with you Tankshock - I'll stick to my olde stylee Hellhound... I agree, I don't mind the old one so much due to the $5 increase in price I'd rather them not even put the BW and DD in because I'm sick of paying extra money for their stupid crap!

The rebreathers are from the Cadian Command box, if I'm not mistaken.

I've seen a new Hellhound in the middle of being built, and yes, the barrels are interchangeable! As we know from the pictures we have, the barrel is in two sections, one from the turret, and the variant barrel slots into a hole in the end with a square part. Shouldn't need magnets!

Still gonna put the converting muscles to work on some chimeras. Three for the price of two? Can't argue against that.

One 'hound kit, two chimera kits.
£30
+£40
A saving of £20, ladies and gentlemen!
