Cheers Gerner, I'm really not sure what's up with photobucket, as it's letting me put those pics on other sites, but I'll try again.
Edit: Nope that didn't work, most odd will try uploading them from Flickr

Those look really good. Do you mind me asking where the bodies come from? I recognise the sarge's scout marine armour of course, but unless I'm being stupid I dont recognise the bodies you've used with the sniper scout heads.

Cheers guys, not sure what the problem with photobucket is so gonna try something else. I then either add a FW Brass Etch Aquilla, or in the case of the recon scouts and rough riders I left them like that to represent lighter armour. The arms on the rcon scouts are either shaved down Catachan arms with green stuffed sleeves, or Cadian arms with the shoulderpads taken off, again with a sharp scalpel.

Those rough riders are really nice. Seamless conversions that look like their straight out of a box.
Amazing stuff.

Cheers everybody, Well, a teeny tiny update today, just to prove that I am still painting. This is the very, very early stages of the first Veteran Squad (powerfist sarge and 3 meltas). These guys have literally had their fatigues base coated in, but this is the most time consuming process, the rest is pretty quick after that. So far just Bleached Bone with one shading of Kommando Khaki. They will get further attention once all the armour is lined in and base coated. The photos show that my figures don't start out all that neat and tidy. I have also completed this stage on another full squad of Vets (Harker and 3 grenade launchers), but didn't get photos of those guys. The plan is to get all the armour done on this squad tonight, get it lined in and then start highlighting that and start on the flesh etc. teku18: Thunderhawk is on the list at some point, but think that will be saved until last.

So far just Bleached Bone with one shading of Kommando Khaki. I've never thought of doing it like that, I've always highlighted up from a darker colour. I'll have to give it a go! How many pairs of scout legs must you buy from bits stores...?

I'm a long-time fan of your work, Straightsilver.
Back on 40konline your cadians inspired me to pick up my game paintingwise, and these are every bit as awesome as the old Eye of Terror chaps.

Cheers guys. 3ff3ct: I always find with pale colours, especially whites or light bone / tan colours that it's easier to shade down than highlight up. You'll find with lighter colours that your shade colour doesn't need to be as dark as usual either, as once you add highlights the contrast will be too much. Plus it makes like a lot easier sometimes shading down, as these guys have only had 3 layers of paint, they will get a further highlight and that's it. When I highlighted up my Cadians they had 7 layers, which for a Guard army is too time consuming. And yes the bitz stores love me! I think I have gone through 30 Scout legs in this army and about another 20 in my Cadians. @hobohunter: Cheers mate, I have realy enjoyed working on these uys, and they have taugt me a lot painting wise too.
