Ok, so having a wealth of models generally lying in boxes I decided to have a nosey and see what I had. I've made a quick list from what I have, although I haven't included any suits, as if this army takes off I'd like to get some of the FW ones I do have a suit lined up as a commander though. As always, I intend to be playing mostly Cities Of Death games, or ones with lots of scenery. Elites3 Stealth Suits, Fusion Blaster 32 Troops12 Fire Warriors, Pulse Rifles, Shas'ui, Photon Grenades 142 12 Fire Warriors, Pulse Rifles, Shas'ui, Photon Grenades 142 10 Fire Warriors, Pulse Rifles, Shas'ui, Photon Grenades 122 12 Kroot 84 Fast Attack6 Vespids, Strain Leader 86 6 Pathfinders, Devil Fish, Photon Grenades 158 8 Gun drones 96 Total: 962So it comes in just below 1k, with no extra frills. I see the photon grenades as insurance if squads get charged, and the Shas'ui for extra attacks in taking buildings/objectives, if it really comes to assaulting, or for counter-attack. What would be good to upgrade the Dfish with? What loadouts would be good for the commander? What units would be good to compiment my force, up to 1.5k? Any answers would be great!

One quick note, arent you supposed to have an HQ choice?

Well, it really depends on the role you want your HQ to have. Normally I take a Shas'O with Cyclic Ion Blaster, Plasma Rifle, Shield Generator Stim Injector and Hard Wired Multi-Tracker to turn him into an all purpose killing machine.
As for the list in question.
I loves me some Stealth Suits, but they're better off with three Burst Cannons, unless you want to buy a Marker Drone for the unit.
Your troop choices are fine by me.
Ahhhh! Vespid...the little bugs never really end up paying for themselves, and die about as fast your average Guardsman. If you really want to take them, a unit of 8 is your best bet, otherwise, leave them in the case.
Pathfinders are a great way of getting Markerlights onto the table, especially when you have Seeker Missiles you want to bring in quickly. As for their Devilfish, it really depends on the role you want them to perform. You always want Disruption Pods for the Cover Save, and if you're playing Cities of Death, a Smart Missile System, Multi-Tracker, Target Lock and Targetting Array will be your friend. It's not cheap, but a 4 shot S5 AP5 weapon that hits on 3's and doesn't need LoS is not something you want to take lightly.

One quick note, arent you supposed to have an HQ choice? Yeah, I've not decided one one yet though @ The Envoy: I thought the fusion Blaster may come in handy, although I won't be too sad to remove it from the list. The upgrades for the Dfish and Shas'o you mentioned look pretty good too. I'll give them a run before I stick them on, although in theory I think they'd do ok! Thanks!

Yeah, there's nothing wrong with giving the Fusion Blaster a try, I generally run my Stealth Suits as interceptors, so hosing an enemy down with Burst Cannon fire before charging in generally works for that role.

i used to play Tau, and i wasen't the best of players, but i found having at least one broadside in your list particularly helpful against heavy infantry and vehicles. my friend and i used to call them "the bane of terminators", and for good reason. i mean, a str:10 AP:1 twin-linked railgun will pay off when the big boys come out to play.

Just one? If I had a squad of terminators it'd be the first thing I'd spam. That and they're not too manouverable, I want a quick army
