The comm's started to rattle "This is imperial naval marauder bomber squadron 231#1. We are taking serious fire and are going to retreat to orbit. We'll try to take out as many bombers before our exit over and out."
"Andrew get to that dorsal lascannon, Thomson get to the heavy bolters." Stated the pilot "Aye sir." The crew replied
The 4 bombers flew through the flyers, the las round punching and penetrating the crude orks Armour. There was a series of explosions and there dropped several ork vessels. "This is 4h wing my engines hit, I'm going down, repeat i'm going down." A crude rocket flew through the air and scored a hit. "Ahhhhhhhhhhhh." Screams filed the comms. "Alright boys lets get back to the Catlas."
...
Those ork vessels just ruined Phillips day. If he knew they would be fighting aircraft, he would have requisitioned several hydra's but it was to late for that. He waved his hand and the three Russ tanks turned to fire at the new threats. Weapons blaring trying to get some hits.

"4h Wing this is Starion Special Tactics Team-Alpha, callsign Assassin One, please respond. I repeat any survivors from 4h Wing please respond." The comms operator shouted across the cramped compartment of the Starion Special Tactics Detachment's command vehicle to his boss. "Major we got a down bomber in our AOR. No word on survivors yet but their last transmission was the crew declaring an emergency."
"Put teams Bravo and Echo on stand by. We can't hold out too much hope but we can try to make an effort to recover the crew." ordered Major Brock Nishimura
"Knight One this Assassin One, stand by for CSAR in your AO."
"Understood Assassin One, Knight One standing by."
"Rhino One this is Assassin One, stand by for CSAR in your AO."
"Roger that, Rhino One will be standing by."

Ferras had people dug-in right behind the dunes. They were keeping the Orks at bay, but at cost. Most of the PDF were either dead or too scared to be of any use.
A heavy bolter starting very close by, temporarily deafened the major. It was manned by the Starions at Gulf station. "Looks like they came prepared," he thought to himself.
The heavy bolts cleaved into the orks, pulping the ones foolish enough to try and charge the gun-pit. Ferras turned as several troopers came panting up to him, each clutching a few bundles under their arms. "Sir, we... we've got the shells." "Good they're ready?" "They're set up sir"
Each mortar shell had a mysterious package hanging underneath them. It was a standard Munitorum issue Mk VII Fragmentation grenade. The idea was to hold the grenade as if you were to throw it, holding down the safety catch. Then the mortar shell, attached to the grenade with parachute cord, would be swung around like a sling. When the grenade is let go, this method produces a large throw, even with the heavy shell. And once the two land together, is more destructive and accurate than a mortar.
The idea was from one of the Commissars, “Maybe some good had come out of their looming presence.”
The Starians gave the contraptions strange looks, but quickly changed their minds when they saw a brawny sergeant obliterate almost a dozen Orks hiding in a crater. Soon, sand, blood and limbs rained down everywhere within range of the sergeant and his accurate throws.
Cheering could be heard in the lines as the green-skins ran back to the sea, their morale crushed under the boot of the Imperium.
“Ha! Is that it dirty xenos? I was expecting mo…” He didn’t finish his sentence.
Throughout the fighting, no one had paid much attention to the sea. As such, ‘Da Sneeky Shark’ had been able to approach unnoticed. It rose out of the shallows, water and empty landing craft tumbling off its huge rusty hull. It had a slight resemblance to a creaking metal patchwork whale, with periscopes, towers and bristling with rockets, which looked even more broken than the submarine itself. In fact it was surprising that the thing was watertight. It squatted in the water for a few seconds menacingly, before releasing its rockets.
Ferras made it to a vox, “All units in the sector, I am near Station Gulf. We have a large hostile water vehicle, I repeat we have a major threat to…” The major was thrown several metres out the dugout by a rocket, in a flurry of sand and under the barrage of additional crude ordinance.

"This is the Catlas posting on all imperial channels. We are moving out of orbit and going to regroup with the fleet. This means all bombing runs and orbital bombardments have ceased. Once we get back to the fleet we will be returning with reinforcements and supply's."
...
"We that's just great." Phillip said "That could be days, months, years. Because of traveling in the warp. The war could have been one or lost before they get back, frak."

"Keep up fire on them you bastards. Kill them all. For the Emperor damn you!."
Sellion fired his bolt pistol into the press of orks advancing on his companies.

"5th Raltir, 5th Raltir. this is Hammer One. You guys are way exposed. Break contact and move north and west away from hostiles. I repeat, break contact and move northwest towards our position. We will provide overwatch as best as we can. Hammer One out."
Quickly the RTO switched channels over to the 701st Corilithian.
"All 701st Corilithian untis, all 701st units. This is Hammer One, requesting support for providing overwatch for 5th Raltir movement. I repeat request overwatch support for 5th Raltir movement."

"All 701st Corilithian untis, all 701st units. This is Hammer One, requesting support for providing overwatch for 5th Raltir movement. I repeat request overwatch support for 5th Raltir movement."
Was heard over the comm's. The vox operator turned and snapped to attention. "Sir 5th Raltir requests support so they can fall back to and past our lines. Sir."
"Good, pass me that vox." The platoon commander grabbed the mic "Platoon 2 and three, We have orders 5th Raltir is preparing to fall back provide suppressing fire on the orks near there position."
"Yes sir" the platoon vox operators replied
The guardsmen changed firing lines lasrounds and heavy bolters punctured the air and dropping any ork that would venture towards the stream of fire.
The platoon command grabbed the vox again "We are sending our 2 squads of Corilithian engineers to your position to help with the evac over."

Ferras awoke, covered in sand and a body. In his hand he still held the vox comm piece.
He shouted at it, "All units in the sector, did you receive my earlier message, repeat did you receive earlier message? Respond!" There was no response, "All units, we have a large hostile water-craft in our sector, it's breaking our lines. This is a major threat to..." Ferras stopped, realising that the phone's cord was frayed and no-longer attached to the vox.
Ferras's last thought was that he hoped the earlier message had gotten through. If not, surely the other units in the south could see the monstrosity.
As he turned to face the sky he saw the flying rocket jerk towards him. He could clearly see the small light-green slimy driver, with pathetic small goggles on his eyes. He steered the spasming rocket towards the major, and hit the ground a foot from his body.

"All units, all units. This is Hammer One, requesting artillery fire on enemy submarine. Southeast of the south beach. We have friendly units being hammered down there. I repeat, Hammer One is requesting artillery fire on hostile submarine on the south side. Break. All units, be advised Hammer Two is moving to provide casevac for 5th Raltir personnel. I repeat Hammer Two is moving to provide casevac for 5th Raltir personnel."

Lieutenant Capitus, second in command of the Fusiliers, stood in the midst of the mortars. "Keep up the fire on the eastern beach, men!"
He could hear something big going on over the hill, but Ferras's orders had been to continue giving fire support, also, Capitus didn't have any men spare to send up the hill and have recce. He had to ignore the thoughts in his head and continue to lead the troops here.
"Trooper, what's the ammo situation?" Capitus asked "About half left, lieutenant." For once, the Munitorum had blessed them with many crates of ordinance.

Sadi whispered to the man next to her "Do you know what to do?" He stood resolutely and nodded. She smiled and lowered her death-mask. This was her first time in battle. She looked through the top hatch and saw the three armoured sentinels marching beside the chimeras. The rest of the troops were in their positions. It was her job to hold the line as long as she could. Io'Dar shouted more obscenity ridden orders at his two command groups. He saw the squad's snipers peppering the orks with round taking down another with every round. But it just wasn't enough. He glanced breifly to see if the Iron Soul's vehicles were in position on the ridge. They were so he had the vox linked to them. "You know the signal." He growled into the vox. The trap was set. And he was the bait.

"We're surrounded."
A sea of orks now surrounded the company. Sellion stood in his bunker. "KEEP UP THE FIRE RATE DAMNIT! YOU'RE THE ONLY DAMN THING KEEPING US ALIVE"
The company was being pushed into a tighter and tighter noose by the orks savage attacks. Sellion knew it would be long before the line began to crack, luckily his forces had decent supplies.

John survived the last conflict he was in, and he returned back to his ranks, while getting a nice promotion. He was happy about that, in charge of 19 other engineers all armed and armored with experimental and/or state of the art Corilithian weaponry. But that was then, John had to focus on the Battle at hand.
...
The Corilithian Engineers made it to their destination. There orders were to assist the 5th Raltir. John ran up to their CO. John gave a crisp salute "We are all they can spare sir, don't worry, I would say we are better than those ...." John couldn't find the word. "Storm troopers."
...
John gave his teams the orders. "See that ork submarine, I want you to fire all missiles at that dam thing." "Yes sir."
And without respite the 20 Engineers pulled out their missile launchers , they waited for the laser designator to ping ... 1, 2, 3 "Fire". The missiles let lose a majority hitting the beasts hull and others hitting the many firing compartments. "Reload and fire again." John turned "5th Raltir you have orders to pull back now."
OOC: John had to make a return.
