But a LRBT will pulp marines. It's funny to watch them cry.
Yeah, I said it. I'm a marine player, too, so I don't want any arguments. AP3 = marine death.

Right...and I wonder if he ever stopped to consider what a whirlwind does to guardsmen...
and for less than 100 points!

Whirl-what? Oh yeah... those.
I actually might start taking them in my BA lists now that they're fast.

If I wanted to be a oversized hulking raging monstrosity I'd go to the gym twice a week. This game holds no appeal for me. Though I hope it comes to PC. Either that or you learn to read and realize taht you can play as more than Space Marines? There are four factions, "Imperium" being one of them. Given the various pieces of art on the site and in the teaser, I'm guessing Sisters and Guard are playable as well, though there's not enough information on that yet (it is just a teaser after all). I have another prediction: Space Marines, Chaos Space Marines, Orks, and Eldar. Because it's actually in line with what happens with these kind of projects. The very idea that you get to play as a Titan pilot is patently silly (The sheer amounts of whines, complaints and cancelled subscriptions are not going to be worth it), and if Guard ever turn up then we are going to be like the fish-people in WoW (Being horribly murderised NPCs).

I'd like to think that they'd eventually release all the races for PC's. Not sure how tyranids would work, but then I'm also not sure how SM's would scale, so what do I know?

It'd be Alien on a larger scale.

And nobody seriously suspected we'd be able to pilot titans, RT.
There were Guardsmen in that video, including one in carapace. It's not so hard to think you'd get to play one. Besides, otherwise it'd not be "Imperium", it'd be "Space Marines".

Whirl-what? Oh yeah... those. I actually might start taking them in my BA lists now that they're fast. They're murder I tell you! Death raining down from the skies! (Erm, especially if you're one of those stubborn goats that loves his gunlines...) To anything non MEQ... and they can ignore cover! Of course, they go up in flames if you can hit them... That's why I went out and got me some valkyries.

Yes, whirlwinds are awesome
Also, re-watching the video, it looks like the factions so far are -Imperium (Smurfs and guard, although I share RT's fear that guard will be NPC only) -Orcs -Chaos (Including Chaos smurfs and human cultists)

The factions have already been announced.
Imperium ORks Eldar Chaos
And yes, they specifically announced it as Imperium, not Space Marines, and announced it as Chaos, not Chaos Space Marines or Traitor Legions or whatever.

You could control a couple squads. In one mission.

Maybe If you choose to play as a guardsman you get ten NPC buddies along with you.
That would be fun.
Despite the dubious quality of this at least the new Space Marine game will be a good romp. I spotted an Elysian-esque massed valkyrie attack =D

Just like Imperial Guard were a playable race in DoWII. The comparison is stupid, and also, it is stupid. An RTS requires different design considerations than an MMO3PS, or whatever this ends up being. And furthermore, the Space Marine faction in DoW2 is called "Space Marines", not "Imperium". Even if you do compare it to WAR, consider that Orks had two Ork classes and two Grot classes. It's not so hard to think that Imperium might have a Marine choice and a Guardsman choice, and possibly even a Sister choice. Similar to how Chaos could have a Marine choice, a Cultist choice, and a Sorcerer choice.

Games Workshop has shown time and time again they do not give a rats' arse about Guard players. While I'd love there to be a Guard race in this game, the fact remains that, following their previous policies and their general approach to video games in general, they don't tend to view Guard as 40K-esque enough to properly attract people to the hobby as a whole. Sisters are actually slightly more plausible - getting more return on a relatively underused and iconic IP, as well as attracting the swarms of lonely teenage lesbians that frequent these games.

And the new plastic tank kits we just got that are some of the best (if most expensive) vehicle kits out there in terms of flexibility. Reds

Imperial Guard were always a popular force. Maybe not Space Marine popular, but they represent the regular guys, and removing them from something like this, except as an expansion, would throw off the balance.
Especially if they use Chaos Cultists.
