I have been trying putting Vomit Brown in with Blood Red as a highlighting colour. I think it works alright, try it out Ah Krylon, reminds me of my misspent college days...

Hey everyone, here's another update on my Cadian/diorama project I got going on. Here's a ruined building I am in the progress of constructing. By daonemdt at 2011-11-30 By daonemdt at 2011-11-30 I'm attempting to use some Floquil textured (as some of you guys kindly suggested )spray paint to try to create the effect of the smaller rubble in comparison to the bigger pieces of the slate to give that bombed-in look. By daonemdt at 2011-11-30 When it dries I'll see how it looks and if everything is good I'll go onto priming. Still wondering if it would look right with the ruins itself sprayed with the textured spray? What do you guys think? I trying for a more sparse distribution of smaller rubble, like debris from an explosion effect.

Hey everyone, How is everyone doing? Its been a while since I've last posted on my thread on my cadian army. Pretty much the project has been on a long stand by recently due to life. Although I've mange to play the new 6th edition at a normal rate, I've had to choose between the chance to play or the chance to paint and I've been choosing to play a lot lately(especially with awesome 6th edition ). Here's what I've done recently... Painted in the new citadel colors by the way... (excluding background standard bearer.) Just to point out, I've done these in the new paint line from citadel I love the new range overall, the paints cover better. Seemingly, the pigment doesn't seem to run as much compared to the old citadel colors when watered down but my only gripe are the new washes. At first I was all excited about em but then I realized that they are all comparably darker than their predecessors. I guess its ok for those who desire greater contrast between their shades and main color. The new textures i think are great. Saves a lot of time. How do you guys feel about the new paint line from Citadel? I hope to continue to paint more regular and finally finish my 8th Cadian....so i can finish my Blood Angels. ;D

I love the smoothness and cleaness (word?) of your paint job on these models and the whole army. They are looking great, and make me wish I could paint better. Keep up the awesome work, I can't wait to see more of your project.

Hey everyone thanks for the replies. dougeye:I got that scout from a friend who had already primed it. I seems like it might be auto primer because when i tried stripping others like it it sure didn't want to come off. Here is some stuff i got done recently.... My Master of Bombardment My bodyguards for my company command..... New Regimental Standard I'm working on... ...and the beginning of my new Sentinel Squadron I plan on adding a fully painted 50 man blob squad to add to my army list and I'm challenging myself to completing the task in 30 days from today. Lets see how that goes Wish me luck and I'll keep you guys posted. ;D

Still can't get over how smooth your painting is As above, good luck with the blob. Do them in batches of five, and paint something fun inbetween each batch, that way you won't loose the will to live

Hey everyone, Merry Christmas and happy holidays. Thought I'd give myself a gift of hope today in order to keep my painting motivation up by posting these models i finished today and keep the momentum going. So here we go.... The new sgt. for my line squad... and two new guardsmen... and group shot. This brings the total completed models for my new blob squad up to a whole six....with 44 left to go not counting commissar or priest. Hopefully as im getting into the grove of batch paint the process will speed up quicker. Thanks for looking and hope to post up again in another two weeks time.

Thanks everyone for the comments and support. scotti88: my paint scheme is currently the following. Armour:Base-catachan green,Shade nuln oil, Edge highlight loren forest then straken green over it. Fatigues:base- steel legion drab, then layer on karak stone. Black leather: base-black, edge highlight- eshin grey then over that with dawnstone. White emblems-clestra grey with white scar highlights. Flesh: base bugmans glow, shade reikland flesh layer on cadian flesh. For lord type characters i usually mix the base and the highlight color to make a mid tone color between the two for light and darker areas of shade. I plan on setting friday night and sunday afternoon to hope start and finish 5 guardsman. We'll see how that goes. Thanks again.

I really love the different poses you pulled off with the power swords and chainswords. Did it take much to pull that off? I'm fairly certain the powersword is from the baneblade kit, but what did you do to remodel the chainswords?

kommissar- Hey there, for the chain swords on my body guards i pretty much just cut and reposition a few bitz to get the conversion down. the bits used for both of them were the left arms from the flamer thrower arms and the plasma arms from the cadian command set. For the body guard with his sword towards the ground,I evened out both top and bottom of the fists and cut a chainsword from a sgt and glue it on the fist and then cut off the bottom handle from catachan blade and glue that to the bottom of the fist (the eagle head). Just took a couple minutes to set the positioning to make sure it was aligned and then making sure the bond was strong enough so that it wont split or seperate overnight once i put it down or something. the other bogy guard using the left plasma gun arm was pretty much just a hand swap job.

Really am loving what you're doing with this army, especially as the plastic Cadians aren't my favorite minis in the world, but yours look superb. I love the subtle conversions that you do. Your most recent sergeant with the bionic hand and power sword is great!

Hey everyone, I've been keeping somewhat to my self imposed painting schedule so far. So heres what i got done since last time..... 3 guardsman to go towards that 50 man blob squad.... Two platoon command squads Ill be working on..... Looking for any suggestions as to getting a sling over the shoulder for the lasgun on the helmet less vox caster trooper? Was thing copper wiring or something...... @trooper: Thank you sir, my feelings about the cadian plastics are the same. The proportion of the old shock troops, while awesome when they first came out, are starting to show their age when compared to the other new stuff coming out. Thank god for the Cadian command set!lol

For the sling: Maybe really thin plastic card cut out in a strip, or perhaps you could use really thick paper (like from an index card) cut in a strip and coated with white glue? Or you could try making one out of GS, but that might be really fiddly...

a strip of plasticard, heated so it softens and becomes easy to bend?

Lead foil. Sturdy, flexible, and only slightly toxic.

Hey everyone, Im back with a slightly overdue update once again. I've managed to get somethings done and without further a due here's what I've done...... Here are three guardsman I've completed since last update..... One of my platoon commanders ....one guardsman to go along with the platoon commander in his platoon command squad..... ...and one Vox-caster to complete the first ten man squad of the first 50 man blob squad!lol ;D Here's a pic of that the newly founded and complete 10 man Infantry squad.... Here's my Leman Russ I've been working on. Not fully completed yet but open to suggestions as to how make it look more weathered. @endrik,trooper1974Sgt.Rock: I've found some GW 40k barbed wire and I decided to smooth it out and will try using that as a sling for the other vox caster. I'll let you know how it turns out and thanks for the tips guys really appreciate it. Thanks for looking everyone and hopefully I post up again in two weeks time.
