I use mine as a buff to my nearby squads, (two heavyweapon teams) Basically a lascannon, vox (if my 30man blob happens to be nearby), and a regimental standard. My PCS however, is kitted out to charge right at the enemy (Powerfist on the PC, all four others have p+CCW)

In a small game, I tend to mount mine in a Centaur with anti-tank equipment -- typically BS4 meltaguns and an officer with a powerfist for the inevitable close combat. As a fast open-topped vehicle it can race in and blow stuff up while still protecting the squad for a turn or two.
In larger games, I use a bare-bones squad, with a lascannon for sniping, a standard and advisors, and stand back providing support to the rest of the army.

company command squad:
company commander has: carapace, bolter, and power fist. vet one has: regimental standard, power sword. vet two has: vox. vet three has: medpak. vet four has: sniper rifle.
I have only one company command squad so I cant give any other opinions.

I go with plasma, highest rank gets the best toys. Plasma pistol and power sword, 3x plasma gun and vox, all in a chimera with a stubber, laser and flamer. If needed i will add some advisors for reserve medling. Well it has been a while but this has changed. I now use: Plasma pistol and power fist, 3x Plasma Gun Vox Astropath Chimera (Multilaser/Heavy Flamer) I upgraded the power sword to a fist because I thought that my commander deserved a unique weapon, and I had a 2nd ed marine fist that was crying out for a conversion. The astropath is pretty much a constant feature now, it lets my sentinels hit the board in the right place and any tanks I leave in reserve come in promptly. I ditched the stubbers when I started to move 12" on the first turn more. Over 20% of the cost of a transport is too much, no matter how awesome they look. Especially when they get a turn less firing.

Necro of DOOM! This'll probably go onto DadCRO's gems (if it isn't already on there). Anyhoo, I just wanted to say that I currently run my CCS with Creed, Kell, 2 Plasma, Medic, & 2 bodyguards, but considering how expensive this unit is, I'm going to cut it down to Power Sword, Lascannon, Standard, Vox, 2 Bodyguards, Carapace, and Krak.

This is a zombie thread for certain.
I've actually changed what I use recently. With my new infantry army I now use just an astropath, a lascannon and a vox. The squad gives the reserve bonus, decent orders and can still take shots at transports. Not great but pretty cheap, leaving points over for scoring units or heavy firepower.

I'm a Straken fan. I used to give him a unit all with CC wep and pistol but now I'm thinking Grn launcher and Melta guns. That way they can Pack a punch an then charge. Unfortunately a plasmagun ain't any good at that. I once stuck Nork with him, a rather formidable and scary unit but way to costly.
Also I take a second with MOO and stick it at the back, possibly with a mortar and it acts just like a heavy weapon squad.

ahh yes, the 2nd CCS...
I also like having 2 CCS, one does the forward duties, the other sits among heavy weaopons teams, and if I'm likely to be facing hordes then they'll sit with a MoO

Company commander plasma pistol, power weapon x3 snipers You're wasting the PP and PW. You won't be moving with the sniper rifles so the other weapons are of no use what so ever. Drop the PW+PP and get an Astropath/MoO/OoF instead.

Yes but now you have commited Heresy by Conversing with a Heretic. This is a crime punishable by Castration followed by a thorough waxing and finally being Purged by flame.... How do you plead?

I have two, and seemingly both are the two most popular choices. Wahey!
My first CCS was set to be frontline boosters, with a flamer, standard, power weapon, plasma pistol, and of course the Vox to order perhaps some run orders or FRFSRF for lots of medium range shots.
My second (both in fluffy command level and purchase/addition order) is the secondary firing line commander, with basic commander, 2x plasma gun and medic to increase survivability, my MstroOrd (they're supposed to be static) and Vox in order to command my Sniper and Heavy Weapons teams to try again.
On the poll I voted for my First.

Usually 3x plasma guns and a medic all inside a chimera with a multi-laser and heavy flamer. Though recently Kras has showed me the error of my ways and I now roll with 4x plasma guns with the chimera. That's another 15 pts save for a plasma gun elsewhere!
