my knight will pretty much look like the one on the box lol boring I knoiw but thinking of some sort of white chevrons or something on armour plates to signify rank or status. for example I may only put the crotch flag on the warlord knight.

I think the minis on the box art are beautifully painted, and I almost went for that scheme, but then decided I wanted to play with Freeblades. I'm thinking of doing a similar thing and only putting the crotch banner on the Knight who will be serving as my Warlord as well. Great minds think alike.

Nooo! They all need crotch flags and the big boss needs a huge red carpet crotch flag to sweep away all the debris.
The new scheme on the Captain Harlock knight looks great.

Thanks, Chem! I'm hearing rumors that FW is going to be doing additional Knight variants, along with bling to plug into the little hole that is just behind the cockpit hatch, so we shall see.

GIANTCHAINSAWDEATHROBOT!!! Number The Second. Just a few more final details (painting the cockpit hatch's portal, and rebuilding the energy cables that run from the rear pelvis to the hamstring areas) and the Captain Harlock-themed Knight will be ready to have heraldry applied. Aquilae, skulls and crossbones, and the motto, "To look for a place to die," will be added. I may also add some numbers as well, as I recall Harlock had some on his collar when he made his initial appearance in "Arcadia of My Youth." I then will need to craft a muzzle flash for the battle cannon, and rig up the spent casing being pooped out of the back of the cannon arm. And of course finish the base.

That truly is sex uncottered, as a submariner I love me a strong set of skull and cross bones........ You my friend are a legend Thank you! This Knight was themed after the classic anime character, Space Pirate Captain Harlock who proudly sported several skull and crossbones on his uniform, as well as on his space battleship, the Arcadia, and the pirate flag that it flew... In space.

Simply tip my cap, how many hours was that then? It was an all-nighter to build (around 14 hours of non-stop work, much of which was spent re-posing the legs, crafting new leg hydraulics along with new ankle joints, and modifying the battle cannon), and then took about three days putting in about 8 hours per day to paint--most of that time was spent doing the yellow trim. That was about how long it took to paint my first Knight (seen a couple of pages back), although that one only took about 6 hours to build because I didn't do any conversion work on it. Unfortunately my attempt at making a muzzle blast with expanding foam insulation didn't work, so I'm going to try using cotton mounted on an armature that will plug into the cannon barrel next.

does the red one go faster? Heh. It's also black, so it's 'arder. It's also yellow, so it's more expensive too.

must say still need to finish my first knight before applying trnasfers but GW did a good job with the transfers for these kits!

I've been mixing and matching transfers from other kits with the Knight kit's transfers, as well as doing my own freehand work to get the heraldry sorted. I used a bunch of transfers from the Baneblade kit on the Harlock Knight.

I've modeled up a muzzle blast using a 10 mm bead and some plastic rod to build a support that can be plugged into the cannon barrel, and then glued cotton balls to the rod. Waiting for the glue to dry, then the cotton balls will be getting dipped in thinned down yellow paint (or I might go get some bulk yellow ink). I may also add some orange shading to the blast. Also, note the expended casing being dumped out of the back of the cannon.

photoshop is so much easier than cotton wool I actually bought some pump-sprayed fabric paints earlier today, and spritzed the muzzle blast with yellow and orange. It's down in the Super Basement TM drying right now (takes about four hours for the paint to dry), and in about three more hours should be safe to touch, at which point I will be plugging it back into the cannon and taking MOAR photos.

Here it is with the muzzle blast complete: Note the empty casing being pooped out of the back of the cannon in the above photo.

well in the UK the price of a knight is a quarter of what he wants for each one. some pro painters would say that's reasonable but like hell would I buy them lol

It's hard to see the shell casing in the last picture because of the angle and the knee in the background but I'm glad you cut it in the end. Great work, as usual.
Selling two Knights at once is a bit unusual; they could have been split into 2 sales.

Thanks, Chem! I think the rationale behind selling 2 at once is to give someone an instant army, but I still don't think those models are each worth almost $600 a pop...

As you say they are very well done BUT you would have to be stupid to spend that amount of money, I'd rather have an army for that sort of cash!

I found this while unpacking. This purple, blue, and green blob on butcher's paper is apparently the first thing I ever painted, and for some reason my parents saw fit to have it framed. The faded date on it indicates mid-October of 1977 if I'm deciphering it correctly. I think I've improved a bit in the past 37 years...
