Going with my red army scheme, I have an idea for KV series tanks! Take a chimera, put a leman russ turret on it, 2 side sponson heavy bolters from one of the space marine tanks. A heavy stubber modeled to look like a DP machine gun. I'll fill up the passenger las turret guns with somethings, cover em up. It will have the same rules as the leman russ, just look a bit different, I think it will be a nice change from that WW1 ish leman russ we have and now I will have a WW2 ish soviet tank force! Hopefully. Any ideas or comments are welcome!

Sounds good. You love the russian tanks don't you Commisar, I prefer the german ones. Good luck anyway, send in some pics when they're done.

LoL, yes I do. I was even thinking of making a german tiger, just for the sake of having a 40K Tiger with a tiny micheal wittman sitting in the cupola.

The Baneblade must be the 40K equivelent of the King Tiger, I am not sure if the T-34 has an equivelent. The chimera does look a bit like one though.

Yeah, kinda. The baneblade always reminded me of the elefant or ferdinand, some sort of heavier version of them.

I don't think the banblade looks like the King tiger, I just think it is the 40k equivelent in intimidation factor. Although I definately think the Tank destroyer is based on the Panther.

I noticed a few days ago that if you use a chimera turret for the LRBT with the heavy bolter side sponsons, it looks like an old WW1 or WW2 tank

By the way commissar, the Baneblade is designed on a real life WW2 German design called the Maus. It weighed around 200 tons, had a 128mm gun with a co axial 75mm gun (much like the baneblades co-axial autocannon+ Mega battlecannon) and about half a dozen MG 42s en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panzer_VIII_Mauswww.lonesentry.com/articles/maus/index.htmlOh, and by the way, the KV series tanks were the single greatest armoured thingy-up of the second world war. It was just like the man they named it after. Slow, ugly, pretensious and stupid as cow sh*t. Armaments factory manager: It is slower, less reliable, more expensive thanthe T 34, and has absolutely no advantages over T 34. Voroshiliv: Then why again should I not have you shot? Armaments factory minister: Errr... (frantic whispering) we have named it after you, comrade war minister! Voroshiliv: We'll take another thousand!(patriotic music)

Yeah I knew about the maus. Those Vostroyan tanks kick arse, thats the first thing I thought of when I wanted to make KVs. And yeah, I know the KVs blow, but they are fun.

No, Red army infantry. Every time we had to attack somewhere, they gave us KV tanks for support. By the time we got a third of the distance most of them had broken down and we had to do all the bloody fighting. I don't think their was ever an instance were they actually got into firing range. And then they made us push them back to the reserve depot. (jk)
No, sudden strike and genuine wargames.
(I love the JS3! 122mm gun! whooo!)

No, red army infantry.. every time we attack somewhere, we are given KV tank support... (tis a conspiracy by tank commanders to give us the worst armour in the army) Lost more to mechanical breakdowns than the germans. Still, they made good cover for our mortar teams...(jk)
My real experience of these comes from sudden strike, an interesting wargame called Hans und panzer and a modified version of company of heroes. However, darkside has served in every army in the world since Attila the Hun. (suppresses darkside)

LoL. Well I wanted to make the KV because it would be simple and I have the parts. And anything soviet is cool.

Knowing KV tanks, it'll probably blow up on the 1st turn every game you use it in....(trails off into dark muttering.)
But I hope it turns out well.

Funnily enough, darkside agrees with me on this. He says if they're anything like real KV tanks then they should take breakdown tests every turn. And only move 3" a turn.
Interestingly enough, I met an elderly gentleman in a bar yesterday who was with a bunch of British legion people. Turned out he had been Red Army Tank commander. Had the medals to prove it too. When I asked him about the KV series tanks he went into a long stream of Anglo-Russian cursing. Turns out most of his friends died in KV series tanks. Sad story.
