So I've picked up two boxes of Warriors and started shaving and filing. I've also got three sets (6 total) of FW Boneswords.
I am planning on using one set of swords to make a Tyranid Prime which leaves me with a big decision to make on equipping the last 5 Warriors.
I've always heard it said that in 5E Warriors in groups of three just don't have the staying power to make it worth fielding them. I had thought to make 3 of my Warriors Bonesword CC machines and the other 3 Dakka Warriors- but this obviously goes against the pre-mentioned advice.
I could just make my CC Prime and have the other 5 be Dakka Warriors- but then there are 4 beautiful boneswords with no xenos hands to wield them. I've never fielded any myself so I am just going off of what I read.
Has anyone fielded Warriors- CC or Dakka- and how do you build your units to be effective?

The store owner at my local GW plays a tyranids army with a Prime and 5 warriors with the shooty option. That plus 1 to your BS really works. And once you get em into combat they will chop alot of things up.

Or blown away by dirt cheap Str 8+ weapons.
Long fangs eat Warriors for breakfast- but because I went out and bought these critters- I HAVE to find some way to make them relevant.
And yes- tanks always look a little better with some Nid parts in the grill.

So I ended up kitting these guys for Ranged.
4 Deathspitters, 1 Barbed Strangler and a Prime attached to share his BS.
They got wasted. Absolutely wasted. Dirt cheap M. launchers to the face- instant death. I really think gaunts pump out more Dakka at quite a bit less points. Shame, really. Why did they go and take Eternal Warrior away?

Well i don't play nidz.. So can't help you with how to run them.. But i can give you some points on where to not put them.. Leman Russ Main Battle tanks.. Missile launchers in all their forms (except Tau).. Power weapon blobs.. Meltas.. Demo Charges.. Those are the tools i normally use to melt away warriors.. In general i have a "harder" time killing them if there is alot of gaunts in front of them to give them cover.. Not much, and since it is Nidz and not Guard i don't hope i helps.. EDIT: LemonKing you last post was over 3 months ago..

i usually kit mine for CC and make them absolute monsters, sometimes i will throw in adrenal glands and and toxin sacs 1 Tyranid Prime, lashwhip+ bonesword, scything talons, adrenal glands, toxin sacs 3-5 warriors-Scything Talons, 2 boneswords, adrenal glands, toxin sacs or i will swap them round 1 Tyranid Prime, 2 boneswords, scything talons adrenal glands, toxin sacs 3-5 warriors-Scything Talons, bonesword+lashwhip adrenal glands, toxin sacs lets see what happens... 1. Furious charge... 2. enemy strikes at initiative 1 3. rerollable hits 4. ALWAYS wound on 4+ 5. no armor saves 6. make ld test or suffer instant death! (if two boneswords pass it on 3d6 ) and this is all at ws 5 with 3 BASE attacks... needless to say, not much survives....

@lemonking: You do know that Furious Charge doesn't really do anything in most situations with that build: Your Opponents are mostly striking at I1, so the Init Boost doesn't do much, and you're Wounding on 4+ anyhow, so the Str Boost doesn't do anything unless the target is T5, when you will get Re-Rolls that you wouldn't otherwise.
My take: Regular Warriors I find work best shooty. They can't deal well with Units with a Hidden PowerFist, and they take a long time to get into Combat. I usually run them with no upgrades except a Barbed Strangler and maybe DeathSpitters. Usually use a small Brood with just the Strangler as Backfield Synapse.
Shrikes, on the other hand, do best as dedicated Assault Units. ScyTals plus either 2xBoneSword/Adrenal Glands or BS/LW/Toxin Sacs.
In any case, Cover is vital, and a Prime goes a long way toward keeping regular Warriors alive in the face of Missile Spam and such.
Truth be told, though, most of the time, my Warriors stay on the shelf these days unless I'm playing a very casual game. Even with Cover and a Prime, Missile Spam whittles 'em down pretty fast, and then it just takes one run-in with a Hidden PowerFist to cripple or finish the Brood.

What westrider said is pretty true, although I use them as a 'support' unit, sending them in with the hormagaunts and gaunts. A bit of shooting and a bit of combat, and they usually do ok for me. Theres a lot of things that will out-shoot or batter them in combat, so its great to use them in tandem with other units.

Well normal ones I go with scything talons and spine fists to soften the target up before the assualt. But Shrikes I favour a pair of boneswords with scything talons. I do like my re-rolls.
