Schrueder stopped and scanned the area, checking for any signs of activity. When he spotted nothing, he turned to the Watch Master and replied to his question. "That depends on what we want to do, sir. The surface is to the right. It's obvious, because of the angle, the air and of course the wire defense. As our objective is to secure more of the tunnel it would be advisable to secure this entrance to the surface. The orks are up there in force, we know that. Having a secure and fortified outpost at a place we can bottle-neck them, with a safe fall back position, namely here, is a good idea."

Eric listens to Schrueder, staring into the two tunnels in turn.
"We should go left, that would leave the monofilament covering our backs. Can we even move it if we wanted to? That stuff is pretty dangerous. There could be orks hiding down in that darkness, they could come up behind us if we head for the surface. Best to use the defences already in place, instead of ripping them down."
Eric stared at the mesh, it reflected the lamp light ever so strangely. He had never seen the stuff before but he used to know a guy who had lost an arm transporting some.
He did not tell the others that the reason he wanted to stay down in the tunnels was that he had not seen the surface since that day with his family. The thought going up there brought the memories back.

Due to disconnects on my part and lack of ideas in general, I'm thinking of closing this and trying something else. Unless someone objects?

Bit of a shame, but people seem to have lost interest anyway. Can we say that everyone just went home and ate cake?

Sounds good. I do have another idea, but I want to plan ahead this time.

Yay, cake!
Looking forward to the next one, I relearned a few of my old creative writing skills through this.
IC: Eric sat down to eat his cake with a smile on his face, fighting orks had been tough. At least the Guard had a good cake compensation scheme.

OOC: My conclusionary paragraph
IC: With the Armageddon war suddenly at a close. Alex retreated back to his own forces lines. He was put back into his old platoon command squad as the platoon leaders bodyguard and stood ready to defend his CO with his life, as the 688th Corilithian mixed battalion slunk back to their lander's and proceeded to take off, to the next conflict zone.
