I am starting a new fantasy army. But I cannot decide from the options above. Cheers MrBojab P.S. I would also like to know why you chose option you did.

Samurai vampires; it sounds too awesome.
Just out of interest how were you going to model the jackal/ wolf / lion beastmen?

Samurai vampires = WIN
How would you model the different types of beastmen though?

Samurai. Vampires. Need any more justification?

The lion beastmen would be converted beastmen with a slightly converted version of the shoulderpad from the high elf chariot.
The Jackal beastmen would be a highly converted gor with tome kings bits.
I don't know about the wolves.

Samurai vampires. But only if all your models have Sashimono: It may be a pain to put banners on every model but it really would make the army look striking and unique. Also it would reinforce the Japanese feel a lot.

Banners attached to your back sound like a really stupid idea. Wouldn't you blow away in the wind somewhat? It's a huge fornicateing thing with no purpose just getting in the way. Besides it makes those guys look like sailboats.
I think if i were to decide either wolf or jackal beastmen as every other choice sounds stupid. Why don't you want to do pirate skaven or pirate orks or maybe ninja skaven (heavy eshin theme)? Then again i'm sure it's because you either didn't think of it or those armies just don't interest you.

I'm gonna have to agree with FKM (What? Who said that?) The banners, while adding individuality would possibly do so at the expense of the over all aesthetic of the models. In the end, you know deep down that what you want to start collecting and the way in which you want to do it. I just hope our input is useful Paradill

Well I hink that they used to use them for easy identification from range. It is a real life thing too, so it can't be that unfeasible. It just strikes me as a very japanese thing to do, and would make your army unique.
I don't think that it would be too expensive. You could even do it with some wire and paper.

Banners would make your army very unique, but perhaps a bit hard to rank up. Sounds like a fun idea, I don't know much about ancient Japan, but maybe zombie peasant guys and skeletons/graveguard/blacknights for samurai, with a bit of a Warhammer twist to it.
